"Please open your eyes. You've been sleeping for a long time… Mom says you're okay, but I'm starting to get worried." Koda's voice slips through a dark void, and I take a deep breath as it suddenly feels like I've been brought back to life.
"Does it hurt?" He speaks again, and confusion hugs me.
Does what hurt? Did something happen to me??
I struggle to pull my eyes open, and as my eyelids peel back, I whine at the sunlight.
"Elián!?" Koda's excited voice calls, and I feel the bed dip beside me, and he sits there.
"You're finally awake." He says, and I take a hand up to my head.
"God, I feel numb," I mumble as I try to sit up, but he quickly grabs my shoulders to stop me.
I stare up at him with confused eyes, but he simply pushes me back into the bed.
"You just got operated on. You shouldn't sit up." He says, and a metal gong gets struck in my head.
