Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: The One Most Worth Hating Is Already Dead

The quiet living room was filled with the sound of clinking dishes, and no one spoke until a sob broke the silence.

Florence Fuller paused and looked over silently.

This sob seemed to break through the barrier, and Evelyn Shaw hugged her bowl and began to cry.

Charles Shaw hadn't expected Evelyn to react this way, and he glanced awkwardly at Florence, gently patting Evelyn's shoulder: "Alright, stop crying. It's not easy for Florence to visit."

"Waaah...," Evelyn sobbed, hugging her bowl, "You came without telling us beforehand... Now it seems like these two dishes make our home look so shabby."

Florence handed over two tissues: "I don't think so."

She was actually quite willing to eat.

"Waaaaaah...!!" Evelyn cried even harder.

Florence took a deep breath: "If you really don't want me here, then I'll leave."

"Hey...! Florence!" Charles quickly stood up to stop her.

Evelyn's crying stopped abruptly: "That's not what I meant."
