Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

Franklin POV

I'm in my Humungousaur form, and right now, I'm going full monster mode — smashing spider robots left and right. I grabbed a bunch with both hands, crushed them into a metal basketball, and yeeted it straight into another swarm.

They just keep coming. So I just keep smashing. Harder. Louder. Meaner.

"Do we actually have a plan, or are we just crushing stuff and hoping they eventually give up?" I said into the comms.

"Wait, how are you on the Justice League channel?" Batman asked, sounding vaguely annoyed.

"And mine," Tony added. "I don't remember giving you the password."

"That's not important right now," I said. "What is important is that someone, anyone, tells me we have a plan."

"We don't," Captain America replied calmly. "We've been holding the line, keeping them away from the towns."

"Just keep fighting until we think of something," Wonder Woman added.

"Right… because endless murder-bots and winging it go so well together," I muttered.

I leapt into the air, came down with a seismic slam that sent a massive shockwave through the battlefield. I wiped out a ton of spider bots.

But before I could feel even a little proud of myself, the alien structure opened up again—More. Spider. Robots.Pouring out like it was Black Friday and these bots wanted deals.

"Okay… time to turn up the heat."

I slammed the Omnitrix symbol on my chest.

"Heatblast!"

I felt the flames surge through me as I changed. Now I was launching a constant stream of fire, sweeping it across the battlefield in long arcs, burning through rows of metal monsters. The heat shimmered in the air. The robots screamed as they melted and exploded.

I spun around, blasting in every direction. "Yeah! That's right! Who wants s'mores?!"

But even as I fought, I couldn't shake the feeling—This wasn't the final wave.

This?This was just the warm-up.

I kept the heat going for 30 straight minutes—nonstop flames, melting bots left and right. But then I saw something that made my heart drop—

Batman's jet.Going down. Fast. And crawling with those freaky robot tiger things.

"Aw hell—"

I slammed down on the Omnitrix."Jetray!"

Wings out, jets blazing, I took off and soared toward the crashing jet. Just in time, I saw Batman eject, free-falling through the smoke.

Got him.

Scooped him up with my feet, wings burning through the air, and guided us to a safe landing.

"You okay?" I asked, setting him down.

"Yes. Thanks for the assist," Batman said, brushing himself off like that was just another Tuesday.

"No problem," I said, already lifting off again.

I soared high above the battlefield, firing optic blasts down at the metal swarm to give the others some breathing room.

1 hour later

We'd been fighting these spider freaks for a full hour, and I could see it—some of the heroes were starting to slow down.

We needed a break. Now.

I dove, landed hard, and slapped the Omnitrix.

"Diamondhead!"

I drove my crystalline fists into the dirt and pushed. Massive crystal spires shot up from the ground, forming a dome around the alien structure—trapping the endless bot spawn point inside. For now.

That was enough for a breather. Everyone regrouped.

"Nice work, Omni," Superman said, nodding. "That dome buys us time. But we need a permanent solution."

"Agreed," Iron Man said. "While we were fighting, I've been scanning the structure and these bots."

A hologram appeared in front of us, showing the alien tech.

"These machines are nanotech scavengers," Tony explained. "They convert any material into programmable matter and feed it into the core of the alien structure. And at the center..."

He zoomed in.

"A black, synthetic energy source. Some kind of—well—Dark Heart."

"So we destroy the structure's heart, and it all shuts down?" Atom asked.

"Not just shut down," Mr. Terrific added. "We need to vaporize it. If even a fragment survives, it can restart itself."

"So... what I'm hearing is—we give this thing a heart attack," I said, smirking.

The smart heroes gave me a collective look.

"A simple way to put it," Mr. Terrific said, "but yes."

"Really wish someone told me that an hour ago. We could've wrapped this up already," I muttered.

"Wha—" Tony started.

I slapped the Omnitrix."Nanomech!"

Lightning crackled as I shrunk down to microscopic size.

"Wow… I think you might've just beat Atom at his own game," Shazam said.

"Thanks for the compliment. Now let's end this," I said.

"Wait, I'm coming with you. Two heads are better than one—and you might not know what you're walking into," the Atom said, shrinking down beside me.

"Fine by me. I can always use some help," I replied.

BOOM!

The ground shook as what was left of my crystal dome shattered. The spider-bots had torn through it and were already consuming the remains like piranhas on a feeding frenzy.

"Well, that didn't last long…" I muttered. "We're gonna need cover."

"You'll get more than that," Cap said over the comms. "Avengers, Justice League—cover Omni and Atom!"

"This might be a bumpy ride," Wonder Woman said, swooping in with fierce determination. She extended her hand. "Hop on!"

"Just don't squeeze," the Atom said nervously as we both shrunk and landed on her palm.

She flew like a guided missile, blasting through enemy bots. I could barely take in the chaos—Hawkman, Hawkgirl, the Lanterns, even Thor were fighting tooth and nail—but it still wasn't enough. The robots were swarming Superman and Wonder Woman like ants on sugar.

Then, a powerful repulsor blast cleared the skies around us—Iron Man.

"Don't worry, you two! I've got your backs!" he said, flying in with a barrage of missiles.

Wonder Woman glanced down at us. "Sorry, boys. I need both hands for this."

Without hesitation, she tucked us—yeah, between her boobs. No complaints here.

Strangely enough, from that angle, I had a crystal-clear view of the alien structure.

Wonder Woman bulldozed through the spider-bots with her fists. I helped, firing mini-lasers from my fingers.

"You can shoot lasers in this form?" the Atom asked.

"Uh, yeah. Wait—you can't?"

"Nope. My suit just shrinks me."

"Well, then I suggest you seriously upgrade that thing," I said, blasting another bot midair.

After a couple more minutes, we finally reached the alien structure. Without hesitation, I stepped up behind Atom, grabbed him by the armpits, and lifted him off the ground.

"Whoa—wait, what are you doing?!" he asked, clearly confused.

I didn't bother explaining. I took off flying straight into the structure, holding him like a backpack with trust issues.

"You can fly, too?!"

"Yep. And seriously… you really need to upgrade that suit," I said, grinning.

Third Person POV

"The Atom and Omni have made it into the alien structure," Wonder Woman said through the comms.

"Good. Now all we have to do is buy them time until they figure out how to destroy the core," Captain America responded, his shield ricocheting off two spider-bots.

"This probably isn't the best time," Iron Man chimed in, "but I'm calling it now—the Avengers call dibs on Omni."

"What? You can't call dibs!" Shazam shouted. "Technically, the Justice League met him first—we had dibs before you!"

"That doesn't count unless everyone was present. That makes your so-called 'dibs' invalid. And since I just called it now—dibs," Iron Man said smugly.

"Omni already made contact with the Justice League, so we have first interaction rights," Shazam argued.

"That's not a thing!"

"Will you two shut up?" Batman and Captain America said at the exact same time.

"Omni isn't a toy. He's a person," Superman cut in, his voice calm but firm. "He'll make his own decision. If he wants to join the Avengers, fine. If he chooses the Justice League, also fine. Either way, it's his choice."

"Now both of you focus on the fight before we lose more ground," Natasha said as she flipped a bot and emptied a clip into another.

"Fine, fine, whatever," Iron Man grumbled. "But I am going to tell Omni about the Avengers' benefits when this is over."

"Then I'll tell him about the Justice League benefits," Shazam fired back.

"Do you even have any?"

"..."

"Exactly," Iron Man said with a smirk behind his helmet.

And with that, the heroes went back to fighting, the friendly rivalry fading into the chaos of war as they continued to push back the relentless swarm of alien machines.

Franklin POV

I followed the Atom's lead through the alien structure until we finally reached the heart of the problem—literally. We landed on a massive black sphere pulsing with energy.

"Wow… this is beautiful," Atom said, eyes wide. "This whole thing is information."

He began interfacing with it. "I knew it—I've got its entire history. Looks like every one of these robots is connected to it. This thing was a weapon."

"Really? What gave it away—the killer robots swarming the planet or the fact it's trying to eat the Earth?" I said.

"It was used in a war. Two planets were fighting, and the one that built this launched it at the other. It wiped out the entire planet. But it didn't stop—it just kept building, kept moving, world to world, consuming everything in its path. According to this… the war ended over 5,000 years ago."

"Please tell me this is the only one."

"For what I'm reading—yeah. This is most likely the last of its kind in the entire universe."

"Good. Now how do we destroy it?"

"We need to locate the inner core," Atom said. "That's the only way."

"Then let's—" I didn't even get to finish. Dozens of metal tentacles lashed out at us from the shadows.

I immediately opened fire, blasting them back with lasers. "Atom! Find the core and destroy it! I'll hold them off!"

He went to work while I kept the tentacles off him, but for every one I blew up, two more took its place.

Suddenly—

"Aaaaaaaaah!" Atom screamed in pain.

I turned to see him getting struck and thrown back. I shrank down to match his size and rushed to his side, helping him up.

"So I'm guessing you found the core?" I asked.

"Yeah," he groaned. "But I tried punching it barehanded. It didn't even flinch."

"Then allow me."

I took aim and fired everything I had into the core. At first, nothing happened—not even a scratch. But I kept pushing, channeling every bit of power Nanomech could muster. The energy built up until—

Crack!

A small explosion burst from the core, throwing us both backward. Black sludge started leaking from it as the entire structure trembled and began collapsing in on itself.

Without wasting a second, I grabbed Atom and flew us out of there, dodging falling debris and collapsing walls as we raced toward the exit.

I was dodging through all the crumbling debris as I flew toward any sign of an exit. That's when I spotted it—a small hole in the collapsing structure. Without wasting a second, I blasted toward it, clutching Atom tightly.

We made it out just in time.

The entire alien structure behind us groaned before collapsing in on itself and melting into a pool of molten metal. It was done.

I gently set Atom down. He returned to normal size, and I transformed back into my regular form.

"Wow, that was intense," I said, catching my breath.

"Agreed," Atom said, dusting himself off. "You did amazing work in there, Omni."

"Same to you, Atom. If you ever want to team up again, I'm down."

As we spoke, the rest of the heroes began regrouping. Superman floated down and landed next to me.

"You did good, son," he said, giving a rare nod of approval. "Considering that was your first invasion… you handled yourself like a pro."

"Thanks, Superman. But now it's time for the part everyone hates."

"And what part is that?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Clean-up duty," I said, smirking as I activated the Omnitrix.

"XLR8!"

With a flash of green, I became a blur of speed. I zipped around the battlefield collecting every last scrap of destroyed spider robot and dumped them all in a massive pile where the alien structure once stood. Flash and Superman helped too, making the job even faster.

But what no one noticed… was that I pocketed a few choice robot parts and slipped them through a mini-portal to my base. I had plans. Research plans.

After a few minutes, we had a perfect scrap mountain.

I transformed again.

"Snow Beast!"

A blast of icy wind erupted from me, freezing the entire pile solid. I made absolutely sure not to miss a single piece. When I was done, the whole thing looked like a futuristic glacier.

Then I turned to the Hulk.

"Hey, Big Green," I called. "You want the honors?"

Hulk cracked a grin.

He leapt into the air and brought down a monstrous right hook that shattered the entire frozen pile into thousands of tiny, useless shards.

Cleanup: complete.
