Chapter 416 - Chapter 402 – The Ruthless One, Dr. Mei

"Also, I have been calling you Nagami, so why are you still using such a formal tone?"

Elysia puffed out her cheeks slightly, her voice tinged with faint disappointment.

"Just call me Elysia, okay~? And if you want you can also call me Ellie~."

She leaned closer, her breath brushing softly against Nagami's neck as she whispered,

"Tell me, what else are you hiding from us, Nagami? You can secretly tell me, can't you?"

The pink-haired fairy thought she had already seen straight through Nagami's personality — an extremely rare type who could remain absolutely rational under any circumstance.

For someone like him, emotional appeal was the key.

If she could just make him react emotionally, even for a second, then a crack would appear — a weakness she could exploit.

Even the slightest advantage would be better than their current situation.

"You're really cute, Ellie."

What he said wasn't flirtation — just an honest psychological observation, based purely on biology and physics.

On the other hand, Mobius who is still on Nagami hand decided to change her strategy.

She dropped her aggressive posture, shot a sideways glance at the slightly embarrassed Elysia who had retreated a few steps, and turned toward Nagami with her most pitiful expression.

Raising her delicate face, she spoke in a soft, trembling voice that would melt anyone's heart.

"B-Big brother… it's so dark and scary here… can you please let me go?"

"Of course."

Without a moment's hesitation, Nagami lifted his hand.

In an instant, the doll-like figure of Mobius was magnified beyond normal perception — revealing a slender girl with C.C.-like light-green hair, so vivid and real that everyone could see her.

If Mobius hadn't shown up in that strange form and tried to invade his consciousness earlier, Nagami wouldn't have reacted so harshly.

That dumbfounded, almost adorable look on Mobius's face said it all.

He just released her so easily… could it be that Nagami had a soft spot for gentle, shy, and cute little girls?

Mobius might have just discovered a new way to extract more useful information.

Should she test it?

In an instant, her expression shifted into a sweet, coy smile.

Her emerald eyes sparkled with feigned innocence as she clasped Nagami's hand and shook it gently.

"Big brother," she purred, her tone sugary and soft, "can you tell me what you really are? Are you truly just the Herrscher of Reason?"

She'd met plenty of Herrschers before, but none — not even the Herrscher of Binding, who required armies of Fusion Warriors to defeat had ever made her feel such powerless dread.

The Herrscher of Reason was supposed to be among the weaker ones, a relic of a bygone age!

Someone like Welt could barely compare to a Fusion Warrior, let alone this monster in front of her.

[TL Note— But he survives and keep appearing until star rail though www]

No way… this kind of Herrscher can't be real!

That thought came naturally to Mobius's mind.

"Yes, I'm just the Herrscher of Reason. You can sense that, can't you?" Nagami smiled faintly.

He was just using a bit of "Five Hundred Million Years of Honkai Simulation" to enhance his Herrscher abilities — nothing too special.

Kevin, meanwhile, looked completely lost in memories, his icy blue eyes distant and misty.

But within moments, the coldness returned as sharp and lifeless as a frozen glacier.

Even Paimon could tell: that "Dr. Mei" Kevin mentioned was no longer of this world — and not even the powers of this world could bring her back.

When Nagami turned his gaze toward Kevin, the man finally spoke, his voice like steel scraping against stone.

"Mei never explained everything, but from what I later discovered… she used her own soul in a special experiment. After her death, it became impossible for anyone to revive her by conventional means."

"She… experimented on her own soul?!" Paimon's eyes went wide in horror. "What's wrong with the people in this world?! How can they do something that crazy?!"

Lumine froze for a brief moment at Kevin's words, a flicker of sorrow flashing in her golden eyes before fading away.

Elysia, on the other hand, remained calm — she likely already knew.

But the slight frown forming on Mobius's face suggested otherwise.

Nagami showed no surprise at all.

His expression stayed perfectly calm.

He had already suspected that Mei's death was irreversible.

Even Mei experimenting on her own soul didn't shock him.

As a scientist, that kind of decision wasn't beyond imagination.

In fact, when Nagami had first absorbed and analyzed certain knowledge, he'd briefly considered doing something similar himself — a project meant to completely understand the origin and operation of one's own consciousness.

To gain perfect control over his mind — rewriting memories, regulating emotions, optimizing cognition, even digitizing his soul and rewriting his personality.

Thankfully, before the plan could be completed, Lumine linked to his consciousness — shattered it and permanently deleted all traces.

Honestly, it wasn't necessarily a harmful plan.

If executed, Nagami's power would've increased drastically.

But the result… would mean he'd no longer be himself.

He'd become something far beyond human — Him.

"An experiment involving the soul, huh…"

Given Kurumi's City of Time's absorption rate, expecting her to gather enough energy to send someone 50,000 years into the past was unrealistic.

And even if Nagami reached that era, without knowing what Mei had done to her soul, he couldn't bring her back to the present.

"I still don't believe Mei would die so easily."

Elysia pressed a finger to her lips, and Kevin's gaze immediately sharpened, locking onto her like a blizzard in human form.

"Just a hunch, of course," she added playfully, "but my intuition about beautiful girls is never wrong."

Kevin stared at her for a long moment, then finally looked away with a weary sigh. "…Let's hope you're right."

After a long pause, he turned to the black-haired boy, his tone heavy.

"Now then… can you tell us why do you want to come to the Elysian Realm?"

The illusion of Elysian Realm had already been stripped away.

Nagami could see through everything — even the deepest secrets hidden within.

Yet Kevin still didn't know what his true goal was.
