Chapter 49 - She Cried For My Lie

Beneath the soft light of dawn, Li Chen, Su Lingxue, and Yu Qingci walked together toward the Lotus Pool.

Su Lingxue sat down at the edge, dipping her delicate legs into the cool water, swaying them gently like a fish brushing the surface.

And Yu Qingci rested quietly beside her, calm as always.

Li Chen sat between them, arms folded, gaze lowered —but inside, he was anything but calm.

His heart raced with anxiety, a knot forming in his gut.

He still hadn't told them about the system— couldn't tell them.

Not without risking everything.

He kept wondering...

Why aren't they saying anything yet?

Are they disappointed?

Hurt?

Angry because I'm hiding something?

Just as he opened his mouth to explain, Su Lingxue spoke—softly, but with piercing clarity.

"My dear husband… have we ever done anything to make you not trust us?"

Li Chen turned to her.

Her legs had stilled. Her eyes were glistening—shimmering with tears that hadn't yet fallen, as if waiting for his answer to save them from spilling.

It broke him.

He'd seen her cry before—but never like this. Never because of him.

His heart clenched.

If I tell her the truth… and she doesn't like it?

If I lose her trust?

...

Still, despite the hesitation, a part of him—perhaps the smarter part—decided to stick to the plan he'd rehearsed in his head.

He had even double-checked it with the system earlier.

But the system's reply was as brutal as it was final:

[System:

Host. Once you mention my presence, this system will be permanently deactivated.]

[The choice is yours.]

Fuck! That's outright blackmail! You bastard !

But he knew—he was helpless against the system. His strength, his path, his entire future came from it. The only viable path now… was a well-delivered lie.

He gently grabbed Lingxue by the shoulders, his fingers wiping away the tears threatening to fall.

"Wife, listen. I know why you're asking… and you're not wrong. But I had my reasons."

"The techniques… the strength… they came from a dream."

"A dream where I met a celestial master—powerful beyond imagination. He gave me these gifts. But then he vanished."

"I don't know who he is. I don't know why he chose me. That's the truth."

"I didn't want to burden you with something even I don't understand. If you stress too much, how will our love seeds grow strong? You don't need stress. You need peace—for our future."

He even let a few tears fall—just enough to make it real.

And that was all it took.

The dam broke.

Both women burst into tears like overflowing rivers, weeping openly now, sobbing into his chest.

Yu Qingci clung to him from behind, her tears soaking the back of his robe.

"Husband… we're sorry…"

"We thought you were keeping something from us because you didn't trust us."

"But you… you were trying to protect us."

"We're sorry, husband. Please… punish us if you must."

Li Chen froze.

Punish...you?

What the hell just happened?

Was this real?

Did they just fully buy my bullshits?

Or… am I really just that good at acting?

And then came the sound.

DING!

[Host, keep up the good work.]

Li Chen stood still.

"…"

He was speechless.

His brain filled with nothing but a cascade of curses he couldn't say out loud—not while two weeping wives clung to him.

"System…"

"System…?"

"You motherfucker system—!"

No response.

This bastard is always assigning weird-ass passive tasks... One day I'll drag this fuck out and shove a dragon dick down his system core. You fucking shit, just you wait... Just... Wait.

His trembling body only made his wives more worried.

They thought he was furious.

They clung to him even tighter.

"Husband, please forgive us!"

"We won't ever question you again, we swear!"

"Please don't hate us!"

Tears flowed again.

Li Chen couldn't take it anymore.

He pulled them into his arms and kissed their foreheads, whispering softly.

"Who told you I was angry?"

"And who said anything about punishment?"

"You silly girls… when have I ever punished you? When have I ever even thought about it?"

He looked down at their tear-streaked faces.

"You two are my world. There's no place for punishment between us. Only love. And maybe… a little mischief."

And then, tenderly, he kissed them both—first one, then the other—softly drinking their tears from their lips.

His hand caressed their gently rounded bellies.

"Alright, enough. This has gone on long enough."

"Wipe your tears. The others are probably waiting for us."

He stood, straightened his robe, and added with a teasing grin:

"And next time, don't talk about punishment so casually…" "Because if you do—then maybe I will punish you."

The girls blushed understanding his hidden meaning.

As he turned to walk, the word punishment echoed in his mind—followed by the unwanted mental image of the reward he'd just received.

Dragon dick… pleasure in pain…fuck

Is that even punishment anymore!?

He smacked his forehead.

Li Chen… focus! Don't get distracted by such nonsense. Focus on the present!

With a deep breath, he walked forward—his wives trailing behind him with flushed cheeks and teary smiles.

Together, they returned toward the courtyard.

Unaware, beyond the peace of their home, the lower realms were already shaking—

—as news of a massive tournament began to spread.
