Chapter 10 - The Main Character

A character Hyun-woo had only ever read about; was standing in front of him.

The novel portrayed him as too proud to ever ask for help. All who took a glimpse at him were dazzled by his stunning looks. He was said to have a distinguishing feature able to be recognized by anyone who saw him. A stripe of pure-white hair in between his pitch black hair. Almost like he couldn't be real.

He was supposed to be a merciless, egoistic character who cared about no one and only ever moved for his own gain.

Hyun-woo limped heavily as he walked past Ryu Min-Jae,"I was just about to kill him." and passed out right as he tread behind him.

Jin-soo also immediately lost consciousness after the last hit he received from the boss monster.

Lying on the ground completely defenseless, Ryu Min-Jae speechless at the smug words of a collapsed man. He decided to leave them there in their collapsed state.

Congratulations!

The Boss Monster Has Been Defeated.

The Tutorial Has Ended.

All surviving players will be rewarded and sent to the 1st floor.

The remaining players unaccustomed to the sudden change in their daily lifestyle were teleported to the 1st floor without any delay. All life threatening injuries were magically healed. However, the tower had a system deciding what could be remedied and what shouldn't.

But that didn't mean their mental psyche was able to cope. Many decided death was better than the constant fear and struggle to climb an unknown tower.

And the scars left on the survivors were part of a painful memory waiting to be recalled.

The tower worked in mysterious ways. It couldn't be understood. At least not at the current levels of players.

Jin-soo gradually came to and was shocked at the lack of discomfort. All he could remember was his waning consciousness in the previous fight.

Hyun-woo was passed out on the grass next to Jin-soo.

"Are you finally dead?" in an energetic tone whilst poking Hyun-woo's face.

Hyun-woo, calm and relaxed, in no hurry to prepare himself for any potential threats, "What do you think you're doing?".

Jin-soo rapidly withdrew his hand,"Uhh. There was an insect on your face. Yeah, that's it."

"...Sure.", Hyun-woo replied, focused on taking a look at his Status Window.

"So, what exactly happened back there after I fainted?", Jin-soo curiously asked about what took place in the tutorial.

"What does it matter?". "We survived, that's all that matters." shrugging his question almost like he was embarrassed.

Hyun-woo observed the surrounding terrain with a keen eye,"This is what the 1st floor looks like. Huh."

The world Hyun-woo knew had transformed into a novel or maybe the world from the novel took over the world as they knew it.

He could only know so much about the tower from a novel. After all, reading descriptions from a novel and experiencing something first hand have a world of difference.

Surprisingly, unlike the tutorial, other players were nowhere to be seen. Maybe they had been teleported to different locations or everyone else had moved ahead from the starting area. Regardless, Jin-soo and Hyun-woo were together by sheer luck.

That damn narcissist stole my Number 1 rank, Hyun-woo thought with an annoyed expression, his hands twitching, and visible dissatisfaction.

"Did you take a look at the rewards you obtained?", "I got some pretty decent items", Jin-soo downplayed his delight with his words but an apparent grin shone on his face like a child receiving a birthday gift.

"I forgot about that. Wait a minute.", Hyun-woo replied.

"A C-rank Katana. A B-rank adapting armor. As well as a B-rank skill."

The katana, jet-black like it couldn't absorb light. The armor able to modify itself into whatever the user preferred and lastly, A movement skill which complimented Hyun-woo's combat method.

"Now that seems really unfair.", Jin-soo said under his breath, expressing his discontent.

"Suck it up. It's not my fault I'm better than you.", Hyun-woo responded arrogantly.

Wouldn't that just be his fault in the first place?, Jin-soo too afraid to utter his thoughts.

"We overlooked the most important reward. The Class Selection.", bluntly stated Hyun-woo.

The class selection is the foundation of every player's strength. It could make the weakest person the strongest, and vice versa. It's not a decision to be taken lightly. It remains with you till death. And there is no way to change it.
