Chapter 7 - What's A Crap?

"Hmm".

Alexander mumbled, attempting to play dumb, but he was pretty audible when he spoke.

The knight just sighed helplessly.

"Come on kid, let's just get the lady to the altar".

Alexander's tensed shoulders fell, luckily the knight didn't look too deeply into it, and decided to just let it go.

They removed the heavy chains from the lady, and attached another thinner chain around her neck.

Alexander found it unnecessary, with how fragile she looks, how could she possibly get away from two armed men.

The knight held her leash as they left the prison, the castle was a pretty complicated place, somehow they didn't need to follow the way they did to get to the prison.

Instead they went through a long flight of stairs, and just kept on walking, it was like there wasn't an end to them.

"The castle couldn't possibly be this big".

Alexander thought to himself after he saw yet again another flight of stairs.

At this point, they had been climbing for almost two hours, Alexander was starting to lose his breath, and the muscles in his leg were starting to ache.

He glanced at the sacrifice, but she seemed composed, it was almost like she wasn't even fazed.

Just then, the lady turned her head, her lightless eyes staring straight at him, or through him, Alexander wasn't really sure at this point.

Each time they locked eyes over the last hour, he felt as if the tower's protection was being seen through, almost like she could see the real him.

The lady suddenly smiles, Alexander was taken aback, what's she smiling about, she's literally about to be killed by some psycho monarch.

Alexander hurriedly looks away.

"She smiles like someone who's lived longer than she lets on, but her eyes... her eyes are of someone still waiting to be born".

"What kind of monster are you?".

Alexander's steps halted for a moment, when the red knight turned, he simply shook his head, as if he was thinking of something.

The red knight looked away and kept on walking, Alexander was in the body of a young man.

It was natural for him to feel as if this was wrong.

At Least that's what the red knight assumed.

Meanwhile, Alexander was about to lose his mind, he heard a voice echo directly into his head.

It was the voice of a woman, sweet and melodious, Alexander didn't need a well planned out education to figure out who it was.

The sacrifice lady somehow spoke into his mind, Alexander would be freaked out if he wasn't in an otherworldly tower that grants powers to transcend mortal limitations.

This has got to be a normal day occurrence here.

"Even your soul looks different from ours, where did you get it from, to think I can't see through it... How about you let me have it?".

This time, the lady faced Alexander, her eyes staring straight into his very core.

Alexander could hear her, but he didn't know how to respond, there wasn't any books on

telepathy in the public library.

The lady suddenly smiled and turned away.

"If you come with us, you'll die".

Alexander practically couldn't take it anymore, and he decided to just respond in his head, whether she could hear him or not, that was up to her.

"You can't trick me into saving you".

The lady's shoulders shook lightly, as if trying to suppress a laugh.

"Was what I said that funny?".

"No, it's just... What makes you think you can save me from that woman?... I have never seen a human like you, so I felt it was a pity for you to die so young... if you want to join me, then I welcome the company".

Alexander furrowed lightly, he wasn't sure what was going on, the tower would want a seeker to influence the flow of history, and to do that, they needed to actually be part of that history.

At Least that's what the old man said, Jerry typically only spoke while drunk, so it was difficult to tell which was useful and which wasn't.

And to make matters worse, Alexander never had any proper training when it came to solving mysteries in the tower.

I have got to just trust my instincts then.

"What's in it for me and how do I know you're not just lying to me?".

The lady shrugged her shoulders.

"I don't know what you want, as for lying, I have never done that in my life... have you?".

Alexander didn't know how to answer that, he had lied dozens of times, but mostly to save his own skin.

"Do unintentional lies count?".

The lady glanced at Alexander.

"Oh my, was that your attempt at a joke?".

He coughed inwardly.

"Sorry".

The lady was very composed, and she seemed to know what she was doing, Alexander wasn't about to get fooled to death.

So naturally, he had to reject her offer while still leaving room for a favour, just in case things actually turn out like she said it would.

"You can speak into my mind, that must mean you're pretty strong, can't you just beat the crap out of that guard and run away, I promise to standby and do nothing".

The lady's face became feasibly troubled.

"What's a crap?".

Alexander almost fell down the flight of stairs.

"It's... it's nothing, just answer the question".

The lady was still perplexed, but she still gave Alexander a response.

"It's the chain around my neck, it's been enchanted with the back tongue, I need your help removing it".

"The Black tongue, don't you mean the forbidden tongue?".

"Who forbade it?".

Alexander shook his head.

"Never mind, just how do I help you with an enchanted artifact, from my knowledge, things like this can only be broken by the person who made it, or by another enchanter... and I'm neither of those".

"We're here". The red knight finally spoke.

He looked back at Alexander and the sacrifice, they both didn't seem out of the ordinary.

He turned back and pushed the heavy metal door, it opened with a creak, and behind the door was a massive hall.

The hall was dark, with black wet chains hanging loosely from the ceiling.

In the middle was a massive altar with fresh blood still on it.

Kneeling before the altar were three other girls, each accompanied by a guard with a spear that stood rigidly behind them.

Alexander and the sacrifice lady locked eyes once more, this time, not a word was said... but her intention was clear.

This is it, don't let this be your last day.
