Unlike the small favors of the past few days, this time Lancelot personally captured Aurora and even provided evidence of her disgraceful past deeds — truly a great help to Guinevere and her side.
No matter how much he had objected to Fairy Lancelot before, this time Guinevere could not refuse to acknowledge the favor.
After all, it was impossible for him to send Aurora back now. Since this beast had fallen into their hands, there was no reason to let her go.
Even so, no matter how much Fairy Lancelot had done for him, Guinevere still found it hard to like her.
Because from beginning to end, the only one Fairy Lancelot cared for was Uther. Aside from Uther, she had no regard for anyone else in the world. In her eyes, there were only two kinds of people: Uther, and everyone else. And she could eliminate or kill the latter without hesitation — the threshold for her to decide someone must die was far too low.
Guinevere had no doubt that if he so much as said "no" to someone, or showed even the slightest hint of wanting them dead, Fairy Lancelot would kill them without hesitation.
That thought made Guinevere deeply uncomfortable.
He felt that Fairy Lancelot was not an independent person at all, but more like some kind of wish-granting machine. Whoever first picked her up would, in effect, have her "remote control" in hand — able to manipulate her to eliminate anyone they wanted gone. Guinevere even suspected that if one day he told Fairy Lancelot to kill Percival, she would probably do it, even though Percival had been her companion for so long and was her younger brother.
It was horrifying — even if the remote control for this killing machine was currently in his own hands.
And this was precisely one of the key reasons Guinevere could not accept her.
Even if Uther was Guinevere himself, so what? Guinevere did not know what kind of person that self from two thousand years ago had been, what he had experienced, or how those events had shaped him. He knew nothing of Uther's experiences or choices, nor of the beliefs in his heart.
What's more, according to Lancelot, even Uther's appearance had been concealed — Guinevere didn't even clearly know what that "Uther" looked like, only guessing a vague outline from his shadow.
Such a person — though reason told Guinevere that Uther was him — was still someone he could not completely accept in his heart.
So could Lancelot's love for Uther really be considered the same as loving Guinevere?
Imagine this: if one day, through some twist of fate, Guinevere became an enemy of that Uther from two thousand years ago — and given that this was the Nasuverse, such a possibility was hardly impossible — what would Lancelot do then?
The answer was obvious: she would probably kill Guinevere without hesitation. No matter whether their relationship was good or bad, she would still do it. At most, she might feel sad for a while afterward.
This was someone who clearly possessed self-awareness and emotions — joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness — yet had chosen to live as a complete machine. Such a person was far too dangerous. In comparison, the grudges between her and Guinevere seemed almost trivial.
So Guinevere did not trust Lancelot.
Even so, until he could find a way to make her stop clinging to him, Guinevere could only temporarily tolerate her presence… though he continued to reject all the delicacies and treasures she tried to send him, which only ended up benefiting Artoria and Noknare.
[Because Fairy Knight Lancelot, while capturing Aurora, had also gathered part of the evidence of her past crimes — though not all, even this partial list was enough to completely overturn the good reputation she had built up over the years.]
[Very soon, Noknare used Aurora as bait to draw out the Wind Clan spies hidden in Edinburgh and captured them all. Afterward, Noknare sentenced Aurora to death, to be carried out personally by Gareth.]
[At the same time, under Noknare's direction, Aurora's crimes were quickly made public. As her true face became known to the world, the humans and fairies who had once supported her turned to spit on her name. No one spoke in her defense — even her former ally, Woodworth, hastily issued a statement severing ties with her.]
[Thus, another enemy blocking your way was removed. Now, the only remaining clearly hostile opponent left in Britain was Woodworth.]
"In that case, what is there to hesitate about? He's nothing more than a defeated foe."
[After dealing with Bogart and Aurora in quick succession, in March of Queen's Calendar Year 2018, Noknare once again led her forces south, marching to bring down Woodworth.]
