Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

"I don't feel that the case is genuine," Raven Storm said.

"Which case are you talking about?" Rocco Vitale asked, feeling as if Raven said something out of the blue.

"The case where Master asked to find the caller's identity. The caller seems to be Dorian Blackthorne, the third son of the old Master Blackthorne," Raven explained. Her team had easily found the identity but were unable to contact their master. They called him through a special network, but it seemed the network wasn't working for some reason. Raven herself tried to solve this, but it seemed absolutely useless. The master's network was really special — something no one had ever seen before. It was as if there was always a person controlling it, even though they knew it was impossible unless he hired too many people just to control it. Then again, they knew nothing about their master.

"Well, just because he is his son doesn't mean the old man Blackthorne isn't in the wrong," Rocco said. They had been dealing with all sorts of cases. It wasn't surprising for him that a family member was against someone among them.

"Well, I think Raven is right. When that guy called again to inquire, his voice was slurring, as if he were drunk. It was the same case when he first called us," Carmine Ricci said. He always had that weird feeling when that guy called, as if something was telling him it wasn't right.

"That doesn't mean anything. Maybe this guy was extremely tortured by that old man and is drinking away his pain," Rocco said. It wasn't that rare a case either.

"This guy Dorian was renounced by the old Master Blackthorne because of internal issues. Rumor has it all that happened because he did something to harm his own family," Eliza Waverly said. She still had her resources, even if she had renounced her title. She still knew what was happening in the social circle. It wasn't rare for such higher-ups to behave this way either. Most of them thought it would affect their lineage if they had children with normal people.

"Ha, he must be sad that this man separated him when he was the one who was right," Rocco said, proud that his assumption was right all along.

"I don't think so. Even though no one has a good opinion about his son, it's been quite a long time since he took revenge. Even if he harbored some hatred, it should have faded by now, or he should have proceeded in some other way by now," Eliza said. She was someone who had gone through a lot of the banter of elite social life. She knew how dark and abusive they could be. Even if that person was really good, he wouldn't have called. If he weren't a good one, he would have acted long ago. After all, it had been almost 25 years.

"So?" Rocco questioned. His mind seemed to see no fault in it. He was thinking maybe the guy hadn't forgotten about all that. Every day was just more and more painful because he was judged unjustly.

Even though the things Rocco had to go through were quite too much, he was still naive and thought like a kid, even if he had brains.

"No son would want their dad dead after not reacting for almost 25 years. He did it either because of his drunken haze or because he had some other ulterior motives,, like maybe money. After all, if he is renounced, he won't get any, would he?" Carmine said. He now seemed to wonder if that guy was facing any psychological issues. Who would want to raise a problem when it had been resting for eternity?

"Yes, I absolutely agree with you. And even if he was unjustly judged, he shouldn't have asked to sabotage him. Maybe try to reason or just live with it. Sabotaging won't help either. There is definitely something wrong," Eliza said. Even if all those people were against Dorian, she didn't feel it was right to blame him. After all, she didn't believe that old Master Blackthorne was that good a man.

"Whatever you say, guys, if all of you feel that he is indeed in the wrong, maybe he is. When you can call the master, tell him that you don't feel his intentions are right. I mean if he feels that what we say is indeed true, he may save his time," Rocco said. He knew that all of them could see a greater picture than he, and he wasn't ashamed to reveal that he wasn't exactly capable of thinking properly.

"I guess you are right. We could give our suggestion. Don't know how Master would feel about this, but let's give it a try," Carmine said. He really felt that the suggestion wasn't bad, that maybe they could give it a try.

"That is when the connection is re-established. I asked my team to report immediately when it did happen," Raven said.

"Hope it won't be long. I mean, we need his support even if it isn't for this matter at all," Eliza said. She didn't want to admit it, but she was afraid something had happened to their master. I mean, maybe she was worrying about nothing, but she couldn't help it.

"I guess Eliza is worried about the master—is it love, sweetheart?" Raven made fun of her. She loved to torment her. They had quickly established a relationship in the group. Even though they shared a deep emotional connection, they fought like cats and mice. Raven often started that simply for fun. But they knew deep within they were more like soul siblings.

"Oh damn you, Je jee. Are you jealous of me? Are you afraid you may lose me?" Eliza couldn't just give up without a fight. She knew Raven hated it when she called him names. Especially this one. But what could she do? She couldn't help it.

"You..." Raven was screaming. It was obvious that she lost her cool.

"Stop both of you!" Carmine said sternly, even though a smile was hidden. He loved to see them get along.

Raven suddenly got a message saying the network to call the master was re-established.

"The connection is back; you can try calling him now," Raven said to Carmine.

"Right, I'll call him right now," Carmine said and started calling. The call soon picked up.

"Yes," the master replied.

"Sir, we found out about the caller," Carmine replied. He knew from all his years of experience that the master liked to hear things straightaway.

"Well, who is it?" the voice said without any emotion.

"Master, it's Dorian Blackthorne, the third son of the one he wants to sabotage. But we don't feel the case is genuine, though," Carmine said.

A silence welcomed him after his reply.
