Chapter 3 - Uchiha Clan's Coup (2)

Shisui arrived at the Naka Shrine, the Uchiha Clan's clandestine meeting spot, specifically the secret underground chamber housing the Uchiha stone tablet. This was their sacred gathering place. He observed the usual attendees, all members who regularly joined such meetings. Among them stood Fugaku Uchiha, the Clan Head, with his eldest son, Itachi Uchiha, the Anbu squad leader, at his side. The Clan's elder council was also present—Elder Saito Uchiha, a stern man with a deeply lined, grey face, his hair tied back in a traditional top knot, clad in simple dark robes.

Beside him was Elder Hana Uchiha, a sharp-eyed woman in her late sixties, her grey hair neatly pulled back with elegant strands. She carried herself with quiet authority, dressed in a refined, dark kimono. The last elder was Genji Uchiha, a stocky, imposing man with a thick, greying beard and a scarred face, wearing simple dark robes like Saito. Also present were the four squad leaders, with their respective vice captains, from the Konoha Military Police Force. The KMPF was primarily responsible for maintaining peace and order within Konoha, acting as the village's internal security force.

While they had their headquarters, specific squads were organized for their various duties, covering different aspects of civilian and shinobi law enforcement. The first was Squad Leader Uchiha Haruo of the Interrogation & Special Investigations Squad. He was a lean man in his late twenties or early thirties, with sharp features and short, neat black hair. He wore the standard Police Force uniform with custom pouches for tools. His squad specialized in complex criminal investigations, interrogating suspects, and gathering intelligence on potential threats to village peace, whether internal or external.

Their work differed from Konoha's T & I Department but shared some similarities. Next was Squad Leader Uchiha Ryo of the Patrol & Civilian Law Enforcement Squad. He was a well-built man in his mid-thirties, possessing a friendly yet firm demeanor, a square jaw, and dark, slightly disheveled hair. He preferred lighter armor under his uniform for mobility. His squad was responsible for daily patrols throughout the village, responding to civilian disputes, petty crimes, and maintaining general public order. They were the most visible face of the KMPF, interacting directly with villagers, handling everything from apprehending thieves to breaking up tavern brawls.

Following him was Squad Leader Uchiha Isamu of the Covert Operations & Counter Squad. He was a quiet, unassuming man in his forties with a perpetually neutral expression. His eyes were rarely fully open, but when they were, the tomoe of his activated Sharingan spun with precision. He wore a darker, less conspicuous version of the KMPF uniform, designed for stealth. His squad was the most clandestine within the KMPF.

Finally, there was Captain and Squad Leader Uchiha Sora, a young woman in her mid-twenties, exceptionally skilled and focused. She had long, dark hair tied in a practical ponytail and a determined look, carrying herself with a disciplined posture. The last two squads were not directly involved in active policing on the streets, but they were crucial for the KMPF's long-term strength. They were responsible for training new recruits, developing new tactics for law enforcement, and ensuring all KMPF members maintained peak combat readiness. Each squad leader was accompanied by their vice captain.

Shisui was the last to enter. Upon seeing him, Itachi looked at him with a determined and nervous gaze. Shisui choose to ignored it, understanding Itachi's thoughts. He knew Itachi expected him to use Kotoamatsukami on his father but was also filled with anticipation. Shisui positioned himself beside Itachi and Fugaku. Upon Shisui's arrival, Fugaku surveyed all the meeting attendees, most of whom were Jonin-level or above. He declared, "Now that everyone is present, let's begin the meeting. Shisui, Itachi, tell us about the current status of the Hokage faction."

Itachi glanced at Shisui before speaking, "Father, currently isn't the time for..." Shisui cut Itachi off, addressing Fugaku and everyone present, "Now is the best time to reiterate the coup plan, Fugaku-sama." Hearing this, everyone was momentarily stunned, looking at Shisui in disbelief. More than anyone, Itachi was dumbfounded, staring at Shisui in disbelief.

Shisui sighed, thinking, 'Just what do they think of me? What's with that reaction? Am I not allowed to say something like that?' After a few moments, some members of the Konoha Military Police Force department began to laugh loudly.

"Hahahaha, Fugaku-sama, even Shisui has now said to initiate the attack against the Hokage faction! What are we waiting for? We should start planning for the coup properly!" Ryo Uchiha commented with a hearty laugh, receiving approving nods from Haruo, Isamu, and Sora.

"Hm, that's right, Fugaku," Elder Hana said. "Now that Shisui has spoken about a coup, that means it is the most opportune time for the plan. Shisui, tell us more about it."

"Shisui, is there a reason you are directly talking about a coup?" Elder Genji asked. "You don't sound like your usual pacifist self. Has something happened during your Anbu duties?"

Shisui looked at everyone blankly. He knew that directly suggesting a coup would shock them, but their reaction was too strong for him to fully comprehend what they truly thought of him. It was not that he didn't want to discuss it with proper flow, but he was never the one to beat around the bush, and currently, he was more focused on having the Uchiha deal with Danzo and Root first, even if it meant confronting Konoha as well. He wasn't overly concerned about it; all he could think of was saving his life from the current situation.

"Um, well elders, Fugaku-sama, can I talk with you in private? I have something to tell you," Shisui spoke, reluctantly asking Fugaku. Fugaku nodded, and they walked a short distance away, out of earshot. The others continued to discuss matters among themselves. Shisui sighed and said, "Uncle Fugaku, I've actually seen the true face of the Hokage faction today, when I made a mistake." Hearing this, Fugaku frowned and asked in a low voice, "What happened Shisui?"

"Ahem, Uncle Fugaku, please don't react too strongly to what I'm about to tell you," Shisui drew closer, whispered. "Actually, I have awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan, which can alter anyone's will without them knowing, and I did a stupid thing of telling it to the Hokage and Elders Council about it."

Fugaku's expression became more troubled and complex. He struggled to process his feelings. Should he be happy that Shisui, the clan's young prodigy, had awakened the legendary Mangekyō Sharingan, or sad that this news had been given to their supposed enemies first? Fugaku asked, "You said you saw their true face. What do you mean by that?"

"Phew, I told them that I could use my Mangekyō to stop this coup of my clan, so they wouldn't take any other actions," Shisui sighed, feigning a sad look. "They agreed and told me to use it on you. But when I stepped outside, just for security, I sent my shadow clone towards the Naka River, and there, Elder Danzo with his Root attacked my clone, thinks it's me and tried to take my eyes."

Fugaku's expression shifted from a frown to shock, then to anger. How dare that old man Danzo attack Shisui to claim his Mangekyō Sharingan? Fugaku controlled his boiling anger, showing little reaction to prevent others from discerning their conversation. "But Shisui, how did they know about our coup d'etat plan?" Fugaku asked. "Even Anbu monitoring around the compound aren't allowed inside, let alone around the Naka Shrine."

"Forgive me, Uncle Fugaku, Itachi and I were sent by you as moles in Anbu, but we were actually double agents for the Hokage," Shisui replied in a low, apologetic voice. "They knew about it because of us, but don't worry, my mind is clear now. I have no doubt that peace between the village and our clan cannot be achieved without conflict."

"When Danzo attacked me, he used Izanagi. My clone managed to kill him, but the next minute he reappeared behind my clone to attack him, and my clone dispersed," Shisui stated. "He possesses a Sharingan of our clan, and it's obviously not like Kakashi's case, which was willingly given by our clansmen. I'm sure the Hokage and other advisors also know about it, maybe they also have as well."

Fugaku's state of mind was in turmoil. The information he had just received from Shisui was difficult for him to comprehend. Although he held Shisui in high regard, the betrayal of his own son, who sided with the Hokage faction, was even more painful. And then, the news of Danzo attacking Shisui to take his Mangekyō Sharingan after hearing that Shisui possessed it made him believe that the Uchiha coup d'etat must happen. In canon, Fugaku was unjustly held responsible and took the blame for the Uchiha Clan's planned coup, despite his intentions not being as resolute as his clan members. He wasn't on the side of Coup d'etat idea. But things were different now.

Shisui thought, 'Will he willingly choose to initiate the coup plan? Well, his complex expression tells me the answer. It's better this way.' In canon, even Shisui was similar to Fugaku; both wanted good for the Uchiha Clan but also desired no harm to Konoha as a whole. If possible, they both wished for the Uchiha and Konoha to live in harmony. But situations were changing here. Shisui was not the same as his canon counterpart, but a transmigrator who wished not to die again, atleast not unfairly, and Fugaku's mind was also shifting due to the new mix of some truth and some lies information Shisui provided him.
