Hearing the Baron's explanation, Asher remained silent, momentarily shocked and genuinely dumbfounded. He did not know how to react to the words he had just heard. Initially, he had assumed the rumors circulating through the territory might have been about him directly, but now he understood that they were about the Wargrave family as a whole, and about what they had done in response.
'Father personally made a move,' Asher thought calmly, his expression remaining composed as his mind sank deeper into thought.
'It hasn't even been that long since the assassination attempt, yet they're already wiped out… How did they even discover the attempt so quickly?' His thoughts continued to churn. 'Was I marked with the same artifact that allowed the assassins to track my location during the True Awakening?'
