Chapter 20 - Chapter 20. In the Rain

Anna's appearance startled Ling Yan, but there was no medicine in the room to treat the wound. She could only use a bed sheet to bandage it and stop the bleeding. Even so, Ling Yan remained a little worried.

"In theory, the cloth used for bandaging should be clean. Now we're using this in a hurry to stop the bleeding. I don't know if it will get infected later..."

Anna, who had a headache, laughed weakly. "Sister Ling Yan, we only have a little more than a day left. The priority is to get through this."

"You... just be mindful. Were you attacked?"

"That white-collar man, but he's dead," Anna mentioned the topic lightly. "But I need to rest. Now the invisible ghost has killed people, and I don't know about other ghosts. Sister Ling Yan... could you..."

"You go to sleep first. Only Grace's body is in the room. I don't think you'll mind. I'll guard the door." Ling Yan nodded.

Anna considered this, then took the dagger from her waist and handed it to Ling Yan. "If someone tries to break in by force, you'll need a weapon. It might be a substitute ghost."

"Got it." Ling Yan took the dagger and held it in her hand. "I'll return it to you when you wake up."

After everything was settled, Anna dragged her tired body to the bed in the room without a corpse and glanced at the other bed.

The white sheets completely covered the person on the bed, and a layer of coagulated blood oozed from the neck. Grace... her death seemed to have happened a long time ago, yet it felt like only yesterday.

"I'm so tired, Sister Grace."

Anna murmured in a low voice, leaning against the pillow, and slowly closed her eyes.

Heavy rain fell, and occasional lightning flashed across the sky. The people who had fled in panic were still running for their lives. Rami and the two lovers had already hidden in the gardener's hut and witnessed the horrific scenes in the two living rooms that resembled a horror movie.

However, for the three people who had truly experienced more than five days of terror, this was no longer shocking.

"Is it... safe here?" The man in the couple asked tremblingly.

"How should I know?" Rami slumped on the ground, breathing heavily. "I've never run so fast in my life. If I get caught, I'll accept it, okay?"

"Brother Rami..."

"Why are you hesitating like that, you old man?" Although Rami was exhausted, he still roared with full energy. "Men should be decisive in what they do! Your wife still needs your protection!"

"Brother Rami, I, we haven't gotten the marriage certificate yet..." The man scratched his head awkwardly.

"Is this the time to care about that?" Rami glared and turned to the woman. "Girl, tell Brother Rami, do you like him?"

"Yes..." Although the woman's voice was low, she answered without hesitation.

"Did you hear that, kid? If you can't even protect a woman who likes you, don't say you're with me!"

"Why, why are you suddenly talking about this, Brother Rami..." The man was a little panicked.

"Damn it! Is your brain full of mud? This is clearly a rule to kill us all. How can we survive if we don't fight?" Rami's eyes narrowed, and he suddenly licked his lips and said grimly, "I'm telling you, there were traitors who fled from the battlefield before, and I cut off two of their fingers and threw them into the river. If you dare to do that, I will kill you!"

The man shook his head hurriedly. "No, how could it be! Brother Rami, I will never run away..."

As soon as the words "run away" were uttered, the man's eyes widened, and he pulled the woman back a step in fear. Rami's reaction was also fast. He pushed his hands to the ground and immediately rolled to the side.

Wisps of black smoke began to seep out of the wooden roof at a very fast speed. By this time, most of the body made of black fog had formed behind Rami.

"Run!"

Rami picked up a folding stool and threw it at the black fog, then scrambled towards the door. When he turned around, he found that the couple had been trapped in the house by the black fog. They were trembling and hugging each other, their legs weak with fear.

"Damn it!"

Rami suddenly turned around and rushed back, heading towards the body in the living room of the small house. This action immediately attracted the attention of the black fog, and it immediately changed direction and moved towards Rami.

"Haha! I knew you were a coward when you were alive! You're still a coward even after you die! You want to kill me? I will grind you to ashes first!"

Rami laughed wildly, took out a lighter from his pocket, and reached out to light the bed sheet wrapped around the body. Strangely, despite the heavy rain outside, the house was unusually dry, and after these days, the moisture on the body seemed to have drained considerably. Rami actually managed to ignite a flame.

The black fog pounced over, and Rami rolled to avoid it, smashing the lighter directly at the corpse. However, the room was too small for him to dodge the second attack.

"Brother Rami!"

The man panicked, looking around but unable to find anything useful. Rami had been caught by the black fog, and countless wisps of black smoke pressed him into the black fog, like a bottomless black hole. Rami was also incredibly ferocious at this moment, still roaring, "What are you afraid of? I will die even if I am afraid! Burn it for me! I will die with it!"

Whoosh!

The man turned around and saw the woman, with tears in her eyes, kicking an oil barrel in the corner to the ground. There was the sound of liquid sloshing inside.

Rami still had half of his body outside the black fog at this time, and he laughed when he saw the oil barrel. "Hahaha, sister, you did a good job! You f*cking bastard! Today, Brother Rami will go to hell with you; you're in luck! Hahahahaha!"

The flames on the body had already begun to die down. The man trembled as he picked up the oil barrel and unscrewed the lid. A strong smell of gasoline wafted out. The woman also ran over. The two of them held the bottom of the oil barrel together and rushed towards the body.

"Brother Rami! Goodbye!"

The window of the gardener's hut reflected a bright flame, and two figures rushed out of the house accompanied by a shrill scream. The flames devoured the wooden structure, but they were never able to escape the house. Only streams of black smoke emerged from the gaps between the doors and windows, slowly gathering into a ball in the air.

A flash of lightning illuminated the sky, and the rumbling thunder that followed woke Anna from her dream.

The room was dark, but the faint light of day still provided some brightness. Anna immediately noticed that there was one more person in the room.

Noah.

At this moment, Ling Yan and Noah seemed to be in a minor dispute. Noah felt that Anna was very dangerous and wanted to take Ling Yan away, but Ling Yan naturally didn't want to leave. The two maintained a certain distance and tried to persuade each other.

After listening for two minutes, Anna slowly sat up, coughed lightly, and said, "Stop arguing."

Noah glared at Anna. "Your identity is still unclear! You have no right to speak here!"

"Since last night, Sister Ling Yan and I have been together, and the substitute ghost has had no chance to attack us at all." Anna smiled slightly. "On the other hand, Noah, we can't guarantee your safety during this period."

"Enough!" Ling Yan suddenly raised her hand to stop the two from continuing. "I believe in both of you, so please don't argue here! Let's revive Grace now and sort out all these confusions!"

"Can everything be figured out by reviving her?" Noah expressed doubt. "I don't deny that she is very smart, but so many days have passed. Do you still plan to let her analyze the changes that she doesn't know about?"

"We found the blood of the divine bird, and we are qualified to use it." Anna climbed down from the bed and stretched out her hand. Ling Yan took out the narrow-necked bottle of blood from the cabinet and handed it to Anna. The two walked to the bed where Grace's body lay.

The sheets were pulled open, and Grace was still lying there. If the wound on her neck was ignored, it would appear as if she were still sleeping.

Anna held up the bottle, unscrewed the cork, and slowly tilted it.

The red blood fell on the skin and immediately spread out as if it had a life of its own, penetrating the skin. Grace's face, which had turned blue due to death, began to improve slightly. Seeing that the blood of the divine bird was truly effective, Anna was no longer stingy and poured the entire bottle of blood on Grace.

Then, a scene that seemed like a miracle unfolded.

The huge wound that had been cut open slowly closed and healed, leaving no scars. The color of death gradually faded, revealing a pale complexion. Finally, in Anna's extremely expectant eyes, Grace's chest trembled slightly.

"Sister Grace!"

The person on the bed opened her eyes, and after a moment, her gaze focused, sweeping across the faces of the three people in the room one by one. She opened her mouth and uttered a familiar voice:

"Am I not dead yet?"

Grace sat up a little dazedly, glanced out the window, and reached out to touch the shoulder of Anna, who was holding her other hand tightly. After a brief moment of thought, she immediately smiled.

"The power outage... what day is it?"

"On the sixth day, the ghost destroyed the generator," Ling Yan answered.

"So, you all know the information about the mirror ghost and the possessed ghost?"

As soon as this was said, Noah's eyes widened immediately. "How did you know?"

"Noah, don't be anxious. First, tell me how I came back to life?"

"Sister Grace, I'm sorry... You are not truly resurrected. I found the blood of the sacred bird, which can revive people for a short period of time..." Anna raised her head, her tone full of apology.

"I see, so you just want me to help you analyze the situation?" Grace did not appear disappointed, as if she had expected it.

"Yes, we are in a very critical situation now. I feel that I can't cope with it anymore, so..."

"Then, let's first sort out the current situation. The situation of the three ghosts, and the situation of the new ghost..."

Noah couldn't help interrupting her again. "How do you know there is a new ghost?"

Anna was also a little surprised. Grace was killed by the mirror ghost. It was understandable for her to guess the information about the original three ghosts, but the new ghost...

"It was about the next day." Grace frowned slightly. "But do you still have time to listen to this explanation now? Time is running out. Tell me what you know quickly."

"No... I think you may know more than us now..." Ling Yan felt powerless for the first time. Did Grace die with so much information? Did that mean that if Grace could have been protected at that time, everyone wouldn't have ended up in such a passive situation?

"Well, let me talk first, and you can add to it?" Grace seemed to understand everyone's situation and immediately changed her approach.
