Chapter 39 - "The Book of Time and the Devouring Pogang."

"The Book of Time!"

Under the piercing stares of the seven Demon Lords, Shen Du slowly revealed everything he knew.

"The Book of Time records everything—past, present, and future."

"And it's not just a record. Whatever gets written in the book... actually comes true!"

"But there's a catch—those who try to fake or rewrite history will face an unknown price."

"That's what Ximu meant when he said, 'Let time take its revenge.'"

"But think about it—what if they already know the consequences of altering history, and they still push forward?"

"My fellow demons, we need to think carefully. If they try rewriting history again, what are we—eight Demon Lords—going to do?"

"Even if time eventually fixes itself, the damage will already be done."

Shen Du practically sneered as he finished sharing everything he knew.

The demon realm fell into a long silence—none of the Demon Lords spoke.

"...The Holy Lord has spoken. We need to stand united on this."

"I can't believe something like the Book of Time actually exists!"

"That kind of power shouldn't be in the hands of just any demon. It should belong to us—the Demon Lords. Otherwise, it could threaten our rule!"

After a while, Zhou Lan finally spoke, his deep, slow voice filled with unease.

The Book of Time. Its power was vast—unimaginable.

If such a thing fell into the wrong hands, even a fellow demon could become a threat to them all.

Zhou Lan was clear—regardless of whether anyone else wanted to go after it, he'd go alone if he had to.

"The Book of Time must be under our control."

"The power to rewrite history... it's a sin beyond measure. Those fools who dare mess with it must be wiped out completely!"

"We should strike first. If we wait and they write something bad about us into that book... we'll be screwed!"

"Why did the Dark Chi even give birth to such a dangerous thing? A book that records everything—it's too risky to leave it in anyone else's hands!"

The Demon Lords were all in agreement with Shen Du and Zhou Lan. They needed to act—and fast. The demons who'd laid hands on the Book of Time had to be eliminated.

But just then, Pogang awkwardly said,

"Uh… I'm kind of slow. And I… can't fly."

"If we're crossing the endless seas to get to Zhou Lan's continent, I don't think I'll make it!"

As soon as she said that, all the Demon Lords turned their gaze on Pogang—and instantly sucked in a cold breath.

When they first met, Pogang was only about five zhang tall (roughly 15 meters).

Now? She was over ten zhang—massive. No one could even guess how much she weighed now.

"Pogang… what the heck happened to you?!"

Shen Du was baffled. Back when they first met, Pogang wasn't even as big as he was. Now she had doubled—maybe tripled—in size.

"You guys know I'm the Demon of the Mountain, right? I've eaten tons of stuff over the years. Sometimes I even eat parts of my own territory."

The room went dead silent.

Even Shen Du was speechless. Then suddenly, a terrifying thought hit him.

Could that be the reason Pogang's future territory ends up being the smallest of all the Demon Lords?

Because she literally ate it herself?

That idea hit him like a bolt of lightning.

Pogang was the Mountain Demon. She wielded the power to devour everything—like a gluttonous beast from ancient legends.

No matter how tough the material—metal, stone, anything—it didn't last long in her massive jaws.

And every time she had a huge feast, her strength grew.

She could even devour mountains and earth, and that would make her body bigger and bigger.

That's why she looked so different now compared to when they first met.

In other words... the reason her territory's so small in the future? All her own doing.

The thought made Shen Du shiver. He made up his mind on the spot:

No way I'm letting Pogang anywhere near my Asian continent. One day she might eat half of it and I won't even know! That's terrifying!

"Fellow demons, I really can't move fast enough. If we're going to fight, someone's gotta pick me up and carry me!"

"Also… why are you guys looking at me like that?!"

Pogang looked around, realizing the others were staring at her kind of weirdly.

Especially Shen Du—his expression was so strange, she couldn't help but stare right back at him.

"Ahem—" Shen Du cleared his throat awkwardly. "Nothing, nothing. I was just thinking of a way to get you over to Zhou Lan's continent."

Pogang narrowed her eyes. "Really, Holy Lord?"

Shen Du nodded, keeping his expression calm.

"So… what's your idea?"

Shen Du rubbed his chin. "We could have Ximu drag you there?"

Ximu gave Shen Du a look.

Shen Du coughed again and tried a different suggestion.

"Or maybe we have Xiaofeng whip up an unstoppable hurricane to carry you—?"

"Ahem," Xiaofeng coughed softly.

"Wait, what about Zhong Su? He can ride the clouds, right? Maybe he—"

Before Shen Du could even finish, Zhong Su snapped:

"Holy Lord! You can ride clouds too! Why don't you go?!"

"Don't tell me you're a dragon that can't fly!"

Shen Du frowned and shrugged.

"My powers are… kinda chaotic. Mostly fire-based. Not exactly flying-friendly."

"My element is thunder!" Zhong Su shot back. "You think I can drag Pogang?!"

Listening to all this, Pogang realized something very clearly—they were all trying to avoid helping her.

Her face instantly darkened. She was just about to lose her temper when Zhou Lan finally spoke:

"I'll take her."

"My Moon Gravity power can move anything—no matter how heavy. As long as Pogang doesn't resist with her magic, I can bring her along."

As soon as he said that, everyone nodded in agreement.

Pogang's anger faded a bit.

"Alright, then it's settled. We'll regroup on Zhou Lan's continent—one day from now!"

Shen Du quickly jumped in to set the meeting time before Pogang got upset again.

After all, even he had to admit—none of them were all that eager to hang out with someone who might accidentally eat half their territory.

The other Demon Lords all nodded.

"Tomorrow, we take back the Book of Time. That thing's too dangerous—it must be under our control!"

Zhou Lan stuck out his tongue and spoke in a raspy voice.

And with that, the eight Demon Lords nodded in agreement and quietly exited the shared demon consciousness realm.
