Axton sat in his room, feeling reluctant to go to Ren again, not after rejecting the boy's confession.
Guilt has been eating him up since he turned his back on Ren. Ren's vulnerable and expectant eyes haunted him like a ghost; he could recall the pain in those green eyes when he said those mean words to Ren.
He stood from his desk. Perhaps an invitation to the sauna might be a good bait to get Ren to speak to him. He knew he must be freezing by now.
He stepped out of his door and climbed down the glass stairs, striding over to Ren's room.
They were leaving by morning, but they weren't going back to the faction yet. The General had tasked them to seek the signals for a week, and they were expected to cover more distance than the previous search team. Axton didn't want to set off on a new journey with Ren sulking at him.
He always felt helplessly unwanted each time Ren stopped speaking to him.
