Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: The Storm Approaches

The stranger's words echoed in Seraphina's mind long after he vanished into the shadows. Ruvan was coming, and with him, a storm that would tear the village—and her world—apart. She could feel it in the wind that whipped through the trees, in the restless howls of wolves that circled beyond the safety of firelight. Her powers pulsed, unpredictable and wild, as if the moon itself was trying to claim her. Kael stood by her side, silent but fierce, his hand barely brushing hers—a touch full of unspoken apologies and promises. The villagers whispered behind closed doors, fearful and unsure. Some called her a savior, others a curse. But Seraphina knew the truth was more dangerous. She wasn't just a girl marked by the moon anymore. She was the key to an ancient battle that had been waiting centuries to begin—and the wolves were watching, waiting for her next move.

That night, Seraphina couldn't rest. The visions from the forest came back in flashes—scenes of fire and blood, of wolves falling under dark spells, and a figure cloaked in shadow dragging chains that rattled like thunder. She remembered the name Ruvan, but the image of him was unclear, like smoke slipping through her fingers. Was he her enemy? Or a lost protector? She had to find out, but every step deeper into this mystery pulled her further from the girl she once was—and closer to something she barely understood. Kael warned her to stay close, to not trust anyone. But Seraphina knew the truth would come from places no one expected. She needed to unlock the secrets of her bloodline, or risk losing everything she loved.

Just before dawn, a piercing howl shattered the silence—urgent, desperate, calling her name. Seraphina grabbed Kael's arm, her silver eyes wide and fierce. "They're here," she whispered. Outside, the shadows in the trees shifted, revealing shapes that moved like ghosts—wolves, but not like any she'd ever seen. Larger, darker, eyes glowing with hunger and malice. The forest had sent a warning, and whatever was coming wasn't waiting for the full moon anymore. Kael tightened his grip, ready to fight. But Seraphina knew this battle was bigger than claws and teeth. It was about blood, power, and a legacy written in moonlight—and if she failed, everything would burn. The storm had arrived.
