Chapter 3 - System Task

"Just knowing is enough, you can be useless but don't embarrass yourself."

Ruth, that shrew, immediately took advantage of the situation and started cursing, "Don't be ungrateful. This job was arranged by your Brother-in-law. If you can't even handle being a Accountant, you're really waiting to die, you good-for-nothing."

"Mom, what about the medical expenses?", Lily asked cautiously.

"We'll get it once he starts working.", Ruth seemed to grow angrier the more she looked at Luis. She snorted and said, "Alright, go wash up. You reek of bad luck."

"Let's go!", Lily didn't dare to stay any longer and quickly pulled Luis upstairs.

The second floor had three rooms and a very small living room. The couple's bedroom was the smallest, originally a child's room. With a bed, a wardrobe, and Luis's computer crammed inside, it felt extremely cramped.

The tiny window did little to dispel the lingering smell of smoke.

The youngest sister, Leah, was a student and only came home on weekends. The eldest sister, Nancy, was already married, so the second floor was usually a quiet refuge for the young couple.

As soon as Luis sat down, Lily went to the room to find clothes for him and said, "Husband, you should wash up first."

Remembering the newbie mission assigned by the system and seeing his wife, Luis felt a surge of heat in his chest. He grabbed her hand roughly and said hoarsely, "I can't get my head wet. Help me wash."

"Mom's still home!!", Lily replied shyly, her usual timid demeanor resurfacing.

In the past, Luis had grown increasingly annoyed by her submissive and meek attitude toward everyone at home. But now, it looked so pitiful and adorable that it only fueled his lust.

"She'll probably go out to play mahjong soon!"

Luis lit a cigarette and tempted her, "Go down and ask first. If it's just the two of us, she definitely won't want to eat at home."

"Then I'll go check!", Lily was actually a bit eager too. She gave him a shy, flirtatious smile before heading downstairs.

Facing such a beautiful face, even though he knew the soul inside was still Lily's, Luis couldn't immediately show the intimacy he should have. It seemed he needed time to adjust to this sudden stroke of luck.

"System, how exactly is task completion judged?", Luis, being cautious by nature, immediately asked in his mind.

"Newbie Mission: Wife's Orgasm. Task duration: one week. Please complete the newbie mission by giving her a sexual orgasm and advancing the 'Wife Corruption' side mission."

"Just one orgasm is enough?", Luis was a bit surprised.

"Yes, just one. Comforting a wife and giving her oragasm is the exchange cost for the newbie gift pack."

The system's voice was firm, making Luis light another cigarette as he fell into deep thought—or perhaps it was more of a guilty reflection on his lustful thoughts.

He and his wife had been high school classmates. Back then, Luis had pursued the school beauty with all his might, acting like a complete simp. At the beauty's pitying request, he even arranged candles in the shape of a heart under the girls' dormitory to confess his love.

The result? The school's biggest bully mockingly wrapped his arm around the school beauty, and came over to kick over the candles, humiliating Luis in front of the entire school.

After that, Luis dropped out voluntarily. With no one to rely on, he knew that even if he got into college or vocational school, he wouldn't have the money to attend. It was better to start working early to support himself.

Lily had been a quiet, plain-looking girl in their class with little presence. But she had silently started comforting Luis.

Whether it counted as her taking advantage of his vulnerability was debatable. Luis was decent-looking—handsome enough that he wouldn't have noticed her under normal circumstances. But in that low state of mind, he'd practically pounced on Lily, who was still a virgin at the time.

The fiery passion between a virgin boy and a virgin girl, especially when the boy was in a volatile state, made their first time painfully awkward. They were even scared about whether they needed to go to the hospital.

After that, Lily had followed Luis with unwavering devotion. By the time she graduated from vocational school with mediocre grades, she confessed their relationship to her family and brought Luis home to meet her parents.

Arthur Wood wasn't pleased but didn't object. Ruth, however, had her own schemes at the time—it was a moment of crisis for her.

The eldest sister, Nancy, was already married. The youngest sister, Leah, was pretty enough to marry into a wealthy family. But this plain-looking second daughter was Ruth's biggest headache. The paternity test incident had humiliated her deeply.

Back then, Arthur's mistress was pressuring him to legitimize her position, and even the traditionally rigid Arthur was wavering. Ruth, in a panic, decided to bring Luis into the family as a live-in son-in-law.

The reason was simple: if all three daughters married out, what would happen to her? Arthur already had another family on the side. If she lost this house, she'd have nothing left.

At the time, the naive Luis had married Lily. Lily was overjoyed to be with the man she loved, but their married life wasn't as happy as she'd imagined.

"Husband!", Lily came back upstairs shortly after, looking a bit happy as she said, "Mom said Sister and Brother are coming to see you tonight. They'll have dinner here."

"Them? Since when are they so kind-hearted?", Luis's first reaction was suspicion.

His eldest sister, Nancy, had always been arrogant. She'd married the son of a high-ranking official early on. Though the guy had been jailed for two years after a fight, his family was well-off, and he'd always looked down on his second sister and her husband.

If they cared about this family at all, it was only because of their sexy Mother-in-law and their petite, big-breasted youngest sister.

Before Luis could process this, Lily said softly, "I'm going to buy groceries. Sister and Brother will be here soon. You should rest for a bit."

With that, Lily hurried downstairs to start preparing. The moment she went down, Ruth's unmistakably shrill voice rang out:

"Don't be stingy with the groceries. Your Brother-in-law likes seafood. Get some good crabs and prawns, understand?"

"Oh, and buy a roast duck from the shop at the intersection. Your Sister loves that, and I've been craving it too."

Lily agreed meekly, while Luis, upstairs, burned with rage.

If only Ruth was home, even cooking rice would earn them a scolding for wasting gas. Occasionally, when Lily tried to show filial piety by buying seafood, Ruth would berate her for being cheap and having no taste, all because she'd married a loser.

Cooking was always Lily's job, with Luis helping out. Yet Ruth would still nitpick over meals for three.

The worst was the roast duck shop at the intersection. If the eldest son-in-law bought it, Ruth would say she loved it. But if Lily bought it, she'd complain that it was greasy and unappetizing—a classic case of blatant favoritism.

There were too many little details in their daily life, but the treatment was completely different. Lily suffered even more than Luis did.

Luis realized that while he was unhappy and resentful, his wife had endured even greater hardships to maintain their relationship.
