"Your luggage is already in the car, we just have to leave now." Silas said with a smile as he saw that Avery was looking around for her luggage after coming out from the washroom.
"Ok." Avery replied with just one word as she exited the room, followed by Silas. She deliberately slowed her pace, keeping a small gap between them as they walked through the corridor.
The hotel hallway was quiet. Avery kept her gaze forward, pretending to admire the neat symmetry of the chandeliers above, but in truth, she was only trying to maintain some distance from him.
Distance her mind desperately needed to sort through the storm of emotions brewing since the morning.
