Avery leaned forward slightly, lowering her voice in a way that felt intimate, almost sisterly. "If you were dating Silas just before our marriage… then you must have some pictures or something, right?"

Her tone was deceptively mild, even kind, but her eyes glinted with quiet amusement.

"Any reservations you made at places together? Anything at all?" Avery asked again, her brows drawn together in feigned concern, the perfect picture of a conflicted, pitiable wife trying to process shocking news.

Underneath the mask, however, she was savoring every second of this.

She had expected Alana to bring up something significant, maybe a photo, an old letter, or some other piece of evidence that might give Avery insight into what, if anything, had existed between Alana and Silas.
