Chapter 147 - ¹⁴⁷:punching the heckler

"Silas, what are you talking about?" Alana's voice shook just hard enough to attract notice. Her eyes watered as if unshed tears were forming, the epitome of a hurt innocent.

She clasped her chest theatrically, angling slightly toward the crowd that had formed at the entrance. "I saw it with my own eyes, she was kissing you! You weren't in your right mind, Silas. You may not recall it, but it took place."

The manner in which she spoke, so sincere and shaking, convinced a number of the students that it was true. She gave Avery another look of hatred, her gaze flashing with victory behind the watery mask.

The audience was eager to believe her account. It was, after all, believable. Silas had been visibly shaken up earlier, anyone could tell. And if he'd been having a panic attack, how could he possibly affirm or deny what had transpired?

"Yeah… he was out of it. He wouldn't even know if she—" someone breathed from the back, getting a few nods.
