Jun Shafeng stared at the Dragonite hovering above, unable to resist scanning it with his system. When Dragonite's stats appeared, he froze in awe.
[Dragonite]
[Type: Dragon/Flying]
[Level: 85]
[Gender: Female]
[Ability: Inner Focus]
[Moves: Dragon Rush, Hurricane, Dragon Claw, Dragon Tail, Draco Meteor, Thunder Punch, Fire Punch, Double Team, Substitute, Protect, Roost, Dragon Dance, Aerial Ace, Hydro Pump, Flamethrower, Aqua Tail, Earthquake]
Jun Shafeng gaped at the long list of moves. "This is the strongest Pokémon I've seen yet, and it knows *so many* moves."
On the other side, Officer Jenny finished scolding Dongfang Xing and Shi Long, then noticed Jun Shafeng staring at her Dragonite. His striking blue hair caught her eye, and she studied him for a moment.
Jun Shafeng felt a chill as her gaze shifted to the Growlithe beside him. Officer Jenny's expression softened. "A Growlithe, huh? You must be part of the Jenny clan. I didn't expect to meet family here."
She knelt and petted Growlithe's head. Growlithe leaned into her touch, wagging its tail happily.
Jun Shafeng, still a bit nervous, managed to say, "Your Dragonite is incredible, ma'am."
Officer Jenny smiled faintly. "No need to be so formal—we're family. I raised this Dragonite from a Dratini. Unlike most Jennys, my first Pokémon wasn't a Growlithe. It took me 15 years to get her to this level, which is why she's my only Pokémon."
Jun Shafeng nodded, impressed. Raising a Dragon-type was notoriously time-consuming and resource-intensive.
He glanced at her police uniform, noticing nine stars embroidered on it. His inherited memories told him that nine stars marked a city-level inspector—a high-ranking officer. His eyes widened.
Officer Jenny caught his surprise and chuckled. "What, haven't seen me on TV? I took down a group of Pokémon poachers not long ago."
Jun Shafeng laughed awkwardly, scratching his head. To him, all Officer Jennys looked nearly identical, and even as a member of the Jenny clan, he couldn't tell them apart. He didn't admit that out loud, though.
Dongfang Xing and Shi Long, standing awkwardly nearby, finally spoke up. "Officer Jenny, what's our punishment?" Dongfang Xing asked nervously.
Officer Jenny's face turned serious again. "Since it's your first offense, I'll go easy. Clean up the park and repair any damaged equipment at your expense."
The two nodded quickly, relieved.
Officer Jenny turned back to Jun Shafeng. "Train that Growlithe well and evolve it into an Arcanine as soon as you can." With that, she leapt onto Dragonite, and they vanished into the sky.
Jun Shafeng glanced at Dongfang Xing and Shi Long, who were already starting to clean up. Knowing their battle wouldn't resume, he took Growlithe and headed home.

The next morning, Jun Shafeng took Growlithe for a walk. Passing the park, he noticed the damaged equipment had already been repaired. A few trainers were battling in an open area nearby.
An idea sparked. "This is perfect," Jun Shafeng said to Growlithe. "Officer Jenny said only Pokémon under level 30 can battle here. That's great for us—no worrying about high-level opponents."
He patted Growlithe's head, and they entered the park. Almost immediately, a boy with glasses approached.
"Here to battle?" the boy asked. "I'm free if you want to have a match."
Jun Shafeng nodded. "I'm Jun Shafeng. What's your name?"
The boy smiled politely. "I'm Bai Yu. I'm starting at Tianhong University soon, but first, I want to get my Pokémon past level 30 here in the park."
"Sounds good," Jun Shafeng replied. He and Bai Yu moved to a nearby clearing for a Pokémon battle.
Bai Yu glanced at Growlithe. "How many Pokémon do you have?"
"Just one—Growlithe," Jun Shafeng answered.
Bai Yu nodded, pulling out one of his three Poké Balls. "Then let's make it a one-on-one match."
He tossed the Poké Ball, and a red flash revealed an Ambipom.
Jun Shafeng's system quickly scanned it, displaying the details.
[Ambipom]
[Type: Normal]
[Level: 30]
[Gender: Female]
[Ability: Technician]
[Moves: Swift, Quick Attack, Double Team, Double Hit, Low Sweep, Fling]
After reviewing Ambipom's stats, Jun Shafeng felt confident. "Growlithe can handle this," he thought, ready to begin the battle.
