Chapter 88 - Chapter 89: Reaching the Top 16

Xiaoqiang watched his ace, Psycho, defeated, feeling a surge of resentment.  He then brought out several Fighting-type Pokémon,

but without exception, they were all defeated by Pandarunner, using the Eight Gates and Tai Chi Chuan.

After defeating all of Wang Xiaoqiang's Pokémon, Pandarunner's level rose from 52 to 55,

and his Tai Chi Chuan became even more proficient.

After defeating Xiaoqiang,  Junshafeng successfully advanced to the next round.

Due to the large number of participants, the first round took nearly four hours.

Junshafeng estimated that the round of 16 would have to wait until tomorrow.

While waiting for the next round, he spotted several powerful Trainers.

He also discovered that Linruo, who had left earlier, was also participating in this Miare Tournament.

After four or five hours, the first round finally concluded.

There were still over 100 contestants left.

Soon, the big screen began selecting the contestants. This time, the first group was not Junshafeng.

Instead, it was Linruo and a Grass-type Pok

émon Trainer.

Jun Shafeng had seen the Grass-type Pokémon trainer's battles.

He knew that the trainer's ace Pokémon was a Venusaur,

  reaching level 73.

However, compared to Linruo's Charizard, it was significantly weaker.

Furthermore, their stats were significantly countered, proving the Grass-type trainer had no chance of winning.

Sure enough, in just ten minutes,

Linruo used Charizard to single-handedly defeat six opponents, instantly drawing cheers from the entire crowd.

It was arguably the most enthusiastic match of the day, aside from Jun Shafeng's first match.

Meanwhile, Jun Shafeng used the system to identify Linruo's Charizard, discovering that in just a month, it had reached level 90.

"It seems Linruo's strength is formidable. If I hadn't shown up, she might have won this Miare Tournament.

However, she must have failed in her final challenge against the Four Heavenly Kings. Otherwise, she would have been the only one Ash would have encountered in the Kalos region."

Speaking of Ash, Jun Shafeng couldn't help but wonder where this young man, who looked the same for decades, was currently traveling.

"Since Team Flare is still here, it means Ash hasn't come to Kalos yet. After I successfully challenge the King, I'll take the opportunity to search for Ash in other regions.

I've finally made it to this world, and if I can't fight Pikachu, it would truly be a huge regret in my life."

Jun Shafeng couldn't help but feel excited at the thought of battling Pikachu.

Just then, the previous groups' matches had concluded.

Coincidentally, the player selected on the big screen was Jun Shafeng.

Following the host's call, Jun Shafeng and a player named Bart arrived at the battle arena.

The originally Grass-type arena suddenly transformed into a rocky one.

Bart couldn't help but beam with excitement.

"I didn't expect it to be a Rock-type arena! I was already worried about my bad luck meeting you, but now the field is in my favor. Maybe I can even win the game."

Bart said, then took out a Poké Ball and threw it into the air.

A flash of red light appeared, and a Nidoking appeared on the field.

Seeing that the opponent had sent out Nidoking, Jun Shafeng immediately checked its ability.

It turned out to be Poison Sting.

"Looks like we can't send out a panda. In that case, it's time for you, Slowking."

Jun Shafeng took out a Poké Ball and threw it.

Slowking, using telekinesis, floated through the air.

Bart's face changed when he saw that Jun Shafeng had sent out Slowking.

"A water-type Slowking! Looks like this is going to be tough to deal with."

 Bart decided to strike first.

 He had Nidoking use Sandstorm.

Instantly, billowing yellow sand rose across the scene.

Slowking looked at the overwhelming yellow sand, his powerful telekinesis instantly covering the scene.

Using telekinesis, he locked onto Nidoking's position and, with a single movement, unleashed Petrify, immobilizing  Nidoking .

 "Slowking, use Raindrop."

Upon hearing Jun Shafeng's command, Slowking immediately used Raindrop.  Suddenly, dark clouds gathered in the sky, and a torrential downpour began.

 The rain hit Nidoking

, and Nidoking's strength dropped sharply in an instant. Slowking used a water wave and defeated Nidoking with one blow.

Bart looked at the defeated Nidoking and immediately reclaimed it. He

 then threw another Poké Ball,

 summoning a Cunning Tengu.

 "Cunning Tengu, use Leaf Storm."

Upon hearing his master's command, Cunning Tengu unleashed a storm of sharp blades from his hands.

Those seemingly insignificant leaves suddenly became sharper than razor blades.  Slowking immediately used his skills to block Leaf Storm's attack.

Bart then commanded Cunning Tengu to use Blade Leaf.

Cunning Tengu, swiftly, arrived behind Slowking. Just as

Blade Leaf was about to strike Slowking

, Cunning Tengu froze. A closer look revealed that Cunning Tengu had unknowingly fallen under Slowking's hypnosis.

Slowking grabbed Cunning Tengu with one hand and, without hesitation, activated the Northern Divine Art. He

absorbed a vast amount of Cunning Tengu's experience in one go, raising his own level from 80 to 82.

He then used the Iron Head Technique, defeating Cunning Tengu with a single blow.  Bart looked at the defeated Cunning Tengu. He immediately retracted it

 and released a new Pokémon.

However, it was still defeated by the powerful Slowking.

In the end, Slowking defeated all six of Bart's Pokémon.

Unfortunately, to avoid exposing Slowking, he only used the Northern Divine Art once.

Therefore, defeating Bart's remaining four Pokémon only raised their level to 83.

Jun Shafeng successfully advanced to the round of 16. Due to the lateness of the match, the Miare tournament was temporarily suspended.
