Chapter 19 - Ch. 19: ruined land, beautiful night

Zelda's POV

The ambush at the bottom of the plateau confirms one thing in my mind. Calamity Gannon , he knows about us and he wants us stopped. The day has been battle after battle on our way through to the river we saw when we were descending from the plateau. Our goal was the sheikah tower but after making it to the first shrine we saw it was already almost night and we're still pretty far from the shrine itself.

I pause writing in my journal on the slate as kyros sets up a lean-to that's raised off the ground inside one of the ruined gaurds post as linkle and Mineru start cooking food or gathering the rusted weapons laying around. I sigh as I tremble slightly before continuing writing.

The attacks were spread out clearly to slow us down but they clearly were to be testing us. Well that's what I think, the first attack was a clear attempt on my life according to kyros but the others he doesn't think they were. I don't know if he's correct or not but I'm worried now. Especially after what we saw before the ruins. Women and men hanging from wooden posts clearly dead for some time but each one bore the signs of rape and repeated births before being speared onto the posts through their ass. Not even the children that was with them were spared. Cook pots filled with thier bloody remains and clear teeth and fang marks from the bokoblins and moblins.

This land is a ruinous nightmare and I feel it's my fault even though everyone says it's not. Everyone had their different reactions to the sights we found.

Linkle prayed for their souls to find peace before gathering them up for a funeral pyre that we will light tomorrow.

Mineru remained silent through this ordeal but I saw the look in her eyes. A look that said," I've seen much worse than this." I asked her about the look and she said the demon king of her time would do this in front of towns he was going to conquer and to sow despair before the battle.

Kyros literally destroyed several bokoblins and moblins around the area in a fit of controlled rage. Spears of darkness, light, ice, and something that destroyed... no devoured anything they touched, dotted the land his anger physically giving off an aura. Once he calmed down he started working silently on our shelter for the night and hasn't said a word to anyone.

It's approaching nightfall and I hear the forest around the ruins come to life. Roars of monsters and screeches of keese as they command the night. Fireflies float through the night bringing dazzling displays to the evening sky. A ruinous land by day a beautiful sight by night. I've never been more glad for the darkness as it now hides the hideous sights that the light showed us.

I sigh as I close the journal entry and I look to the sky. The moon casting a beautiful glow framed by the shining stars that dot the sky. I feel a weight settle beside me on the fallen log I'm using and I look over seeing kyros breathing slowly. He stares out across the ruined courtyard and he shudders slightly as I catch tears in his eyes. I reach towards him and start rubbing his broad back as he takes shaking breaths. He mumbles something but I hear it clearly. His distraught voiced whispers hitting my ears.

" It's not them," he said, " it's not them." I look at him as he breathes deeply and I hug him in understanding. We stay like this until the fire we had going smolders to embers as we both drift off to sleep with the palicos keeping watch for us.

" So the princess is alive, hee-hee, this will be glorious. We can capture her and present her to lord Gannon and he'll lead his followers to greatness." I chuckle rubbing my hands together as I hear the screams of the women being 'educated' in their new roles. I walk past the map of Hyrule and sit in my glorious throne of tied women. My hands landing on the tears of two plump women. Fans softly swaying from to more subjugated girls, giving me a cool breeze. Oh it was a pity that the assassin failed but he did provide us good news.

" Master kohga," says a female voice as another foot soldier lands before me. Her yiga armor defining her curves. Her masked face looks down like the good girl I raised.

" Akame, dear you don't need to call me master, Daddy or father would do," I say as my daughter removes her mask. Perfect chocolate skin much like her gerudo mother/ Carrier, wonderful silky white hair framing moon like silver eyes. Yes my daughter is perfect, she'll be welcomed by lord Gannon and one of the free women in his control. For that was her purpose all along.

" Forgive me father, I'd like to capture Zelda and her group. If you'll permit me this request," says my daughter akame. I nod thinking of the scenarios that could happen and it's always a win win.

" Granted, but we must get her before she reaches kaikoro," I say as she nods and vanishes in our technique. Oh how you make me proud.

Akame pov

'Free, I'm finally free from that place,' I think as I rush across the land tears of joy filling my eyes as I wear regular travel garb my weapons being an eightfold long blade. I must give this information to lady impa in kaikoro Village or even the princess. I clutch the documents I have closer to my chest as I think about my possible future. Freedom, prison, or a plaything, I'd take any of the options but the last. I run into the night finally free from the nightmare I endured from birth.
