Walking beside Mazikeen, Jason raised an eyebrow when she stopped in front of an elevator buried inside a derelict, half collapsed building.
"…Really?" he asked, eyeing the rusted doors.
"Yes," Mazikeen replied simply as she stepped inside.
Jason shrugged and followed her in. The doors slid shut with a tired groan.
Mazikeen glanced at him, lips curling slightly. "Surprised? What, you've never heard of the elevator that goes straight to Hell?"
Jason leaned back against the wall, unfazed. "This'll be my third trip down there. Each one somehow managed to be more fucked up than the last, so no… not really surprised."
Mazikeen turned fully toward him, one eyebrow lifting. "Third?"
"Well," Jason said thoughtfully, "I wouldn't exactly count the second one. That was some hellish dimension ruled by an interdimensional demon king."
Mazikeen smiled knowingly. "Trigon. Ah… so you ran into him."
"You know him?" Jason asked.
"Of course," she replied. "Lucifer and I crossed paths with him once. Lucifer handled it."
Jason gave a short nod. "I figured."
The elevator began to descend, the hum low and heavy.
Jason glanced at her again. "So let me ask you something. What if I said no? A war in Hell isn't exactly my problem. I'm human."
Mazikeen studied him for a moment, then smiled slowly. "Then I'd have to offer you something worth fighting for. Something special."
Her eyes flicked toward him, playful and sharp.
Jason scoffed lightly. "I don't think there's anything you could offer that'd make me go to war."
Mazikeen stepped closer.
"Are you sure?"
In one smooth motion, she pressed him back against the elevator wall. Her body fit against his effortlessly, warmth meeting warmth. Her presence alone was overwhelming. Dark eyes locked onto his, hair framing her face like a shadow, her beauty sending a quiet chill through him.
She leaned in, lips close to his ear, breath slow and deliberate.
"I'd give you… me."
Jason froze.
To his own surprise, his composure slipped. The pull was undeniable, almost unnatural. He prided himself on control, on never being swayed so easily, yet Mazikeen's presence dug in deep, wrapping around his senses.
The elevator doors slid open.
Heat poured in instantly, thick and oppressive, the air of Hell swallowing the space whole.
Mazikeen laughed softly, pulling away as if nothing had happened. "Honestly… you're all so easy."
She stepped forward, hips swaying deliberately as she walked out, every movement intentional.
Jason exhaled slowly, rubbing his face once.
"…Fuck."
Then he followed her.
.....
Jason followed Mazikeen into the depths of a massive infernal castle, its black stone walls pulsing faintly as if alive. Demons lurked everywhere. Corridors, balconies, shadows. Hundreds of eyes watched him.
Yet not a single one dared to attack.
It was not only because of Mazikeen walking at his side, the former Queen of Hell in the eyes of many. Even stripped of absolute authority, her status as Lucifer's consort still carried terrifying weight. Any demon foolish enough to strike her would invite annihilation.
But more than that, Jason himself had changed.
His cursed energy rolled off him in heavy waves, oppressive and predatory, far stronger and more dominant than before. Every demon felt it. Instinct screamed at them to stay away.
As they approached the inner halls, Mazikeen glanced at him over her shoulder.
"Inside," she said, "you'll meet what's left of our resistance. This war went all out. They're… awful. Just deal with it, okay?"
Jason shrugged, unfazed. "Sure. Let's meet them."
They entered a vast chamber carved with ancient sigils and burning braziers. Three figures stood waiting.
Jason immediately took note of them. Each presence was distinct. Each dangerous in their own way.
Mazikeen stepped forward. The room straightened with her.
"Everyone," she said coldly, "this is Jason Anderson. The one I told you about. He will help us."
She turned slightly, gesturing to each in turn.
"Jason, these are the current fighters of the resistance in Hell."
She pointed first to a squat demon with leathery wings, bald head, yellow eyes, and a serpentine tongue that flicked in and out as he smiled.
"This is Nergal. Archduke of Mendacity. He's quite the bastard. Be careful around him. He might try to kill you when you're not looking."
Nergal's grin widened, sharp and amused.
Mazikeen moved on.
"This is Etrigan."
The yellow skinned demon stood stiffly, fish like fins jutting from the sides of his head, a dark cape draped over his shoulders.
"Hmph," Etrigan muttered, clearly unimpressed and acting as if he would rather be anywhere else.
Finally, Mazikeen turned to the last figure.
A woman.
Brown hair, strikingly beautiful features, and a muscular, battle hardened body that radiated authority.
"And this," Mazikeen said, "is General Belyllioth."
Jason's eyes flicked toward her.
Belyllioth met his gaze without hesitation, eyes sharp and assessing.
"This is who you brought us, Mazikeen?" she said bluntly. "You think a mere human can solve our problems?"
Mazikeen turned to her slowly, eyes narrowing.
"Are you questioning my orders?"
Belyllioth stiffened but did not look away.
"I am not," she replied. "You are the Queen, and I respect hierarchy. But this is our world at stake. I would prefer a more powerful ally than a human."
Mazikeen's voice dropped, dangerous.
"This human could have killed all four of us by now. Including me. Just so you know."
The room went still.
She glanced back at Jason briefly before continuing.
"He is the one Lucifer entrusted the world to after he left. Do not look down on him."
Jason, meanwhile, looked bored.
"So," he said flatly, "are you finally gonna tell me what the fuck is going on, or do I gotta wait?"
Mazikeen smirked despite herself and gestured toward the table.
"Sit."
Jason did. The others followed, Mazikeen taking her place among them.
She folded her arms and began.
"After Lucifer left, Hell was divided among multiple demon lords, each ruling a territory. The highest rank was given to Demon Lord Neron."
Jason listened silently.
"He ruled Hell in a way I wouldn't call peaceful," Mazikeen continued. "It is Hell, after all. But it was orderly. That's the word."
She paused briefly before going on.
"A few hundred years ago, the twins appeared. Lady Blaze and Lord Satanus. At first, they were nothing more than half demons. Insignificant. But they rose. Slowly. Ruthlessly. They reached the level of Demon Lords."
Jason nodded slightly.
"They caused trouble," Mazikeen said. "But nothing Neron couldn't handle. He is the strongest Demon Lord in Hell. Aside from Lucifer, no one ever dared stand against him. Many tried. All failed."
Jason spoke up. "And now they succeeded?"
Mazikeen shook her head.
"No. They still haven't defeated him. But now… Neron does everything they say."
Jason's eyes sharpened.
"They've united. They control all of Hell. They are rewriting the rules Lucifer put in place. And eventually, they want to move on to Earth."
She leaned forward slightly.
"That change is what we are fighting."
Jason considered this. "You think they're controlling his mind?"
"To a certain extent," Mazikeen replied. "Yes."
"I see," Jason said calmly. "So what's the plan?"
Mazikeen's lips curled into a slow, dangerous grin.
"Now," she said, "we get to the fun part."
