Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: The sky cleared, the rain stopped

"Huff~"

Heiyan adjusted his breathing with a deep inhale, mentally reviewing all the key points of the technique. Facing forward, he quickly formed a series of complex hand seals with both hands.

The dazzling sequence of encrypted seals left trails in the air before ending with palms pressed together.

Shoo!

Puffing out his cheeks, Heiyan forcefully spat out a white water jet from his mouth.

This stream was only as thick as an arm, yet it moved incredibly fast—crossing fifty meters in less than half a second—and struck a massive boulder deep within the forest.

Boom!

The sturdy rock, taller than three men combined, exploded upon impact, shattering like fragile tofu.

Water Release jutsu typically had one common weakness: insufficient damage potential.

Realizing this limitation, Second Hokage Senju Tobirama developed [Water Fang Wave].

Unlike ordinary Water Release techniques, [Water Fang Wave] concentrated powerful water pressure onto a small area, ejecting it as an ultra-high-pressure thin water jet from the mouth—like a sharp blade slicing through the target.

To put it simply in four words: "high-pressure water gun."

"Absolutely incredible..."

Kosuke Maruboshi murmured. If he hadn't seen it with his own eyes, he would never have believed that Heiyan had mastered [Water Fang Wave] in merely half a month.

Back when he first successfully used this technique, it had taken him a full year to accomplish.

"Heiyan, I really don't have anything else to teach you anymore," Kosuke couldn't help but sigh at this thought.

Actually, he still had another move from Leaf-Style Willow—a combination of swordsmanship and Genjutsu classified as an S-ranked secret technique—but unfortunately, Heiyan lacked Yin Nature Transformation abilities and showed no talent for practicing Genjutsu at all.

"You'll always be my teacher," Heiyan humbly replied, his expression sincere.

His quick mastery of [Water Fang Wave] wasn't so much due to extraordinary talent; rather, it was largely because of Sage Transformation enhancing his capabilities.

Though his current [Water Fang Wave] already far surpassed standard Water Release techniques, both its speed and power still had significant room for improvement.

In the original Naruto universe, when the Second Hokage used [Water Fang Wave], the stream's velocity approached supersonic levels, and its force was strong enough to sever the God Tree's roots directly (the legendary divine tree that once threatened the world).

It was getting on toward evening.

Looking toward the setting sun on the horizon, master and apprentice headed back to the village and then stopped by the hospital to visit Might Duy.

Meanwhile.

Under the same twilight sky, beneath the identical setting sun.

Above the Uchiha clan's sacred grounds, a great river could be seen winding through dense forests below, quietly flowing forward. The sunset shimmered across its surface, making the scenery on both banks breathtakingly beautiful.

This was the Uchiha clan's mother river—the Naha River.

At the headwaters of the Naha River stood a massive waterfall. The roaring water tumbled down from the mountains, crashing down and throwing up countless sprays of mist.

Before the waterfall, sitting atop a large bluestone slab, Fugaku Uchiha sat cross-legged with closed eyes, fully concentrating on drawing out chakra.

Suddenly, he opened his eyes. Within their dark depths appeared three vivid crimson tomoe spinning slowly yet emitting intense chakra fluctuations.

Three-tomoe Sharingan.

Whoosh!

Fugaku Uchiha leaped down from the massive boulder and landed by the riverbank. As he raised his head to gaze at the roaring waterfall cascading from above, a surge of unprecedented heroism surged through his chest.

Slap!

He clapped his hands together, forming the Tiger seal. Then he gathered chakra in his throat and forcefully spat it outward. Immediately, a massive wave of flame erupted forth like an ocean, surging straight toward the waterfall.

Boom!

The flaming sea collided head-on with the thundering waterfall. A deafening explosion roared across the sky as immense quantities of steam shot upward, eventually condensing into a light drizzle that fell gently beneath the glow of the setting sun.

"After adapting to this pair of triple-tomoe Sharingan, my eye power has increased more than twice compared to before..."

Fugaku Uchiha murmured softly as he savored the growth within his body.

Earlier, he had easily unleashed [Fire Release: Great Fire Destruction] after merely forming a single seal—and its power was significantly greater than before.

If given the chance to face off once again against Kurokawa, the Mist rogue ninja, from over a month ago, he now possessed one hundred percent confidence in utterly crushing his former opponent.

However, deep within his heart, the person he most desired to defeat wasn't Kurokawa, but—

"Heiyan..."

Repeating that name over and over through clenched teeth, Fugaku Uchiha unconsciously tightened both fists until his nails dug deeply into his flesh, causing him to bleed without realizing it.

Time regressed back to over a month ago.

That night, he suffered a devastating defeat at Kurokawa's hands, nearly costing him his life—until Heiyan intervened, turning the tide of battle. With overwhelming force, Heiyan instantly annihilated the enemy and ended the fight.

Afterward, Heiyan silently departed, concealing both his achievements and reputation. Yet surprisingly, Fugaku Uchiha became celebrated by his colleagues in the police force as a hero—the tale of how he 'defeated Kurokawa' spread widely throughout the clan.

For Fugaku Uchiha, all of this felt bitterly ironic.

As a result, he withdrew from the world entirely.

From that point onward, he hadn't slept for three full days and nights. Whenever he closed his eyes, an image would involuntarily rise—a young man standing tall with palms pressed together, mounted atop a colossal dragon. That figure shone brilliantly, like the moon itself suspended in the sky.

As for himself, he was nothing more than a faint flicker of a firefly.

Ever since childhood, Fugaku Uchiha had always experienced smooth sailing, never encountering failure. But now, for the very first time, he questioned his own worth, sinking into profound despair and confusion.

He locked himself inside his room, eyes bloodshot, hair disheveled and grown long, his entire body pale and emaciated beyond recognition.

That boy named Heiyan had already become his spiritual demon.

Just then—

A miracle struck.

After enduring countless agonizing days and sleepless nights, when the pain within his heart reached its peak, a unique flow of chakra suddenly surged forth inside Fugaku Uchiha's brain, stimulating his optic nerves.

A sharp pain pierced both eyes. His Sharingan had evolved—from double tomoe to triple tomoe.

Among the Uchiha clan, most individuals were naturally sensitive and emotionally intense. When their hearts endured powerful emotional shocks, their eyes—mirrors reflecting the soul—often underwent evolution accordingly.

Just like what happened to Fugaku Uchiha.

Over a month had now passed. Fugaku Uchiha had completely adapted to the power of his triple-tomoe Sharingan, achieving a tremendous leap in strength. He'd risen to become one of the strongest warriors within the Uchiha clan.

Finishing his trip down memory lane, Fugaku Uchiha snapped back to reality.

He lifted his head and noticed the mist in the air had vanished. A dazzling rainbow stretched across the sky above the Naha River waterfall—breathtakingly beautiful.

The sky cleared, and the rain stopped.

That confident man known as the Number One Prodigy—the Uchiha genius Fugaku Uchiha—had returned.

"Heiyan, just you wait. I will defeat you. I swear it."

Fugaku murmured with burning eyes full of determination.

For now, however, he had something far more important to do.

Near the waterfall stood a building complex known as the Naka Shrine—it was a secret gathering place for the Uchiha clan.

Fugaku walked straight into an underground hidden room beneath the shrine.

CRACKLE! The flames roared to life in the braziers lining both sides of the chamber.

In the center stood a giant stone tablet covered in mysterious inscriptions.

With anticipation in his heart, Fugaku stepped before the tablet, activated his triple-tomoe Sharingan, and tried to read the carvings on it.

Because from the clan elders, he had learned that within these strange characters lay recorded the path to revival for the Uchiha clan.

Yet soon enough, disappointment filled Fugaku—he found his eyes could only translate the first few lines of text, all trivial and insignificant.

"Could it be... only through awakening the legendary Mangekyo Sharingan can one fully understand what's written here?"

He muttered softly.

Unfortunately, over twenty years ago, Madara Uchiha betrayed the clan—he not only stole the blazing war fan, a sacred relic, but also took countless ancient texts and scrolls containing the secrets to awakening the Mangekyo.

Damn it all!

At that thought, rage flared in Fugaku's heart. He slammed a fist against the nearby wall, immediately creating cracks like spiderwebs spreading across its surface.

"Young man, would you like to know what's truly written on that stone?"
