Sofia couldn't keep it in any longer. The weight pressing on her chest was too much to bear. Every smile from Adam, every playful look, every touch that once made her feel alive now only reminded her of what she lacked. Each day she watched him—so gentle, so endlessly patient—and it broke something inside her bit by bit.
Her eyes fell to the floor, fingers trembling as she finally spoke. "Tristan, I want to file for divorce. And this time," her voice faltered before she steadied it, "I'm completely sure."
Tristan froze, staring like he wasn't sure he'd heard her right. "Sofia," he said carefully, leaning forward. "Do you even realize what you're saying? Divorce from Adam?" His brows pulled together, confusion written across his face. "You've both survived so much together. Can you at least tell me why you want to end it now?"
