Mrs. Holmes was indeed helpful.

But that was only one reason for her eagerness to assist the Grangers.

As a mother, she knew her son's personality all too well.

Solitary, eccentric, unsociable.

This had been a constant headache for her at his previous school.

Although Sherlock had resolved the issue himself, the outcome wasn't exactly pleasant.

So, if he could make friends before even starting school, it would be the best possible scenario.

Meanwhile, Sherlock had already greeted the little girl named Hermione.

Out of politeness, he added to Mr. Granger, "Dr. Granger, pleased to meet you."

"Pleased to... wait, how did you know I'm a doctor?"

Mr. Granger responded instinctively but then realized something was amiss.

He hadn't mentioned his profession during the introductions.

Mrs. Granger and Hermione, with her bushy brown hair, were also taken aback.

Seeing the Grangers' surprised expressions, Mr. and Mrs. Holmes exchanged smiles.

They weren't surprised at all, of course.

Similar incidents had occurred many times before.

However, Mrs. Holmes' smile quickly faded.

Because Sherlock didn't answer Mr. Granger directly but turned to Mrs. Granger instead:

"Mrs. Granger, I actually suspect my mother has pulpitis caused by dental caries, but she's been too afraid of the pain to go to the dentist. I hope you can help her."

Mrs. Granger's eyes lit up, and she immediately began asking Mrs. Holmes about her symptoms.

Although Mrs. Holmes shot Sherlock a glare, she cooperated and started describing her condition to Mrs. Granger.

From the moment Sherlock was pulled forward, Hermione Granger had been observing him.

Sherlock's short black hair, grey eyes, and taller-than-average height for his age were immediately noticeable.

Now, hearing him directly state her parents' professions astonished her even more, prompting several more glances his way.

That's when she noticed his rather prominent aquiline nose.

"It's quite large."

When Sherlock's sharp gaze turned towards her, Hermione, caught staring, blushed and quickly turned her head away.

The Grangers had arrived somewhat late.

Although the two mothers hit it off well, the Grangers still needed to proceed first to purchase Hermione's school supplies promptly.

However, before parting ways, Mrs. Holmes not only confirmed the location of the Leaky Cauldron for them but also unreservedly shared her day's shopping experiences with Mrs. Granger.

Simultaneously, Mrs. Granger persuaded Mrs. Holmes to have a comprehensive periodontal health check before school started.

Guaranteed painless, of course.

And so, the day in Diagon Alley concluded satisfactorily.

The following month was very fulfilling for Sherlock.

He didn't dwell on the Granger family.

His mother's pulpitis was indeed an unexpected bonus.

As for looking after Hermione at school, that was unnecessary.

Sherlock had always found taking care of himself troublesome enough.

Having Hermione take care of him was even more impossible.

Besides... with a little witch tagging along, where would he find the time to explore Hogwarts?

During this period, he meticulously studied how to use his new pet.

After several attempts, he discovered, just as the pet shop owner had said, that the owl could deliver both letters and parcels.

Seemingly no different from a postman, but far superior in speed and accuracy.

He also gave his pet owl a name.

Watson.

Sherlock couldn't quite explain why, but he felt the name suited a companion who would be with him long-term.

Additionally, he finished reading all the textbooks and the extra books he had purchased.

Through them, Sherlock finally gained a systematic and macroscopic understanding of the wizarding world.

Compared to the little witch Hermione Granger, he was more interested in two other names.

One was Harry James Potter.

This name appeared in the school-required A History of Magic, as well as in the books Sherlock bought himself: Important Magical Events of the Twentieth Century and The Rise and Fall of the Dark Arts.

This boy, the same age as himself, was born on July 31, 1980.

He was known as "The Boy Who Lived," "The Savior of the Wizarding World," and "The Only One Who Ever Survived the Dark Lord."

The reason Harry Potter held these titles was related to the other name.

The Dark Lord whom Harry Potter had supposedly vanquished.

According to the books, this was the most powerful and dangerous Dark Wizard in history.

So much so that when his name needed mentioning, many books simply referred to him as "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named."

Only a very few books used the name "Voldemort," and often only once.

When subsequent references were needed, it reverted to the Dark Lord or You-Know-Who.

Sherlock, a firm believer in science, found this somewhat incomprehensible.

It seemed utterly absurd.

Perhaps... this was just a peculiarity of the magical world?

In any case, due to Voldemort's immense power and numerous followers, he had once ruled the wizarding world.

For the entire magical community, it was the darkest period in history.

However.

Where there is oppression, there is resistance.

The dark, high-pressure rule provoked growing discontent among many, eventually leading to a protracted war between good and evil.

The leader of the white wizards fighting against Voldemort was none other than Albus Dumbledore, the Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

This was why Hogwarts and Dumbledore himself held such esteemed positions in the magical world.

This conflict was known as the First Wizarding War, and it lasted for a full eleven years.

The entire wizarding world suffered greatly during this war.

According to the books, if the war had continued, Voldemort might truly have come to rule the magical world.

However, in the eleventh year of the war, just as Voldemort's power reached its peak, a turning point occurred.

October 31, 1981, Halloween night.

For reasons unknown, the feared Dark Lord arrived in Godric's Hollow.

It was a small village in the West Country of England, a semi-magical settlement named after the famous wizard Godric Gryffindor.

Harry Potter and his parents lived there.

Undoubtedly, the Potters were exceptional wizards.

They were powerful and had been active on the front lines against Voldemort.

Even so, when confronting Voldemort directly, the Potters were inevitably and brutally murdered by him.

After killing the Potters, Voldemort turned his wand on the mere 15-month-old Harry Potter.

But.

The Dark Lord, possessing immense power, having personally killed hundreds, and feared throughout the wizarding world, failed!

The powerful magic, previously infallible, blasted the Potter house into ruins, yet Harry himself remained unharmed.

Thus, Harry Potter became the only person known to have survived Voldemort's attack.
