Chapter 2 - Shadow Consumed

The next morning, Seth felt uneasy. The fatigue hadn't gone. Neither the nausea. If anything, it clung together more tightly.

His expression became worried.

Still sitting on the bench, Seth recalled the strange figure he saw last night.

Just then, someone walked by him dressed in a police uniform.

"Excuse me sir, This is a restricted area. I'm gonna need to ask you to leave."

Seth sighed.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I'll leave now."

The police officer looked at him intently.

"Hey Sir, you don't look good. Have you been experiencing fatigue, nausea or unusual tiredness?"

"Yes, Sir. I've been feeling nauseous, and unnaturally tired."

The policeman's face turned serious.

"Since when have you experienced these symptoms?"

"Since yesterday."

Seth thought of the torso he'd seen. Although he did not know if he should disclose that information to someone else. Well, he was not sure if the police officer was going to believe him anyway. That type of information was best to be kept to himself.

"I'm not sure if you're aware, but those are symptoms of the recent event that had been happening."

"The Disappearances? Don't they call that 'the purge?'"

The policeman grabbed Seth's hand.

"I need you to come with me."

Before Seth could react, they were already walking at a fast pace. They were practically running.

They left the park, and crossed the street. Coincidentally, just across from the park was the police station. Upon entering the police station, the policeman grabbed a key that seemed untouched for a long time. It was the key to a room at the very back of the station.

Inside, the room was built with a thick layer of concrete. The door itself was made of what looked like a vault door. The room was soundproofed.

At the center was a pod with fancy electrical works.

The policeman looked at Seth.

"Get in."

Confused, Seth got in, trusting the Policeman's word.

Seth got close to the Pod, but the policeman stopped him.

"Before you go in, I must explain why we are doing this."

The policeman cleared his throat.

"We believe that you're a victim of a curse that had vanished long ago, The Curse —which they now call The Purge— was a powerful epidemic. Today, you will be serving as a test subject. The Curse was known as challenges cut in parts. Try your best to not die."

More policemen entered the room.

Seth got in the Pod and closed his eyes. Almost immediately he heard the humming of the electronics working. Then, he felt the world trembling, as if it were vanishing.

"NO!"

When he woke up, he couldn't see anything.

Then he heard something..
