Chapter 7 - 7

I meditated as usual that night, and as I cleared my mind, a small stream of Chakra appeared in my lower Dantian.

Kirito suddenly opened his eyes. The surprise was too sudden; he had thought he wouldn't be able to sense Chakra until at least after he turned eight. It might be due to the different physiques of people from the two worlds—people here matured earlier.

In his previous life, Kirito had seriously studied meditation and had even learned from a Temple priest. When he tried to become a disciple, he found the priest was more interested in soliciting donations from rich people. This changed Kirito's view, so he distanced himself, picked up books to learn on his own, and discussed with others in online forums.

Normally, for females, the number is 7, and for males, 8—meaning physiological maturity comes at 14 for girls, 16 for boys.

In his past life, children weren't taught meditation early since their Yang energy was undeveloped and minds unstable. But this life gave Kirito more time—and maturity.

Luckily, he finally sensed Chakra at six years old. Chakra, strictly speaking, is life energy—though written as "Chakra," it's different from air or breath.

Natural Energy was probably a deep subject. When Naruto trained Sage Mode, toad-like markings appeared on his face. Jiraiya's were even more exaggerated. Maybe the word "Demon" should be added before "Immortal"—they didn't feel very orthodox.

Still, now that he could cultivate Chakra, he had a chance to become an Immortal in this world. Time would tell if Hokage's Immortals or he, the transmigrated Orthodox Human Immortal, would be stronger.

But that was far off. He wouldn't touch Natural Energy until he was sure.

He closed his eyes again, cleared his mind, and meditated.

The Chakra in his body was tiny. Kirito didn't disturb it, letting it remain naturally, just as his sect taught—naturalness above all.

Fortunately, where there's one, there's two. He would wait for his body to grow and mature further.

"Naruto!!" Iruka Umino snapped.

Naruto jumped up, rubbed his sleepy eyes, and quickly wiped the drool from his mouth.

"Go stand by the door!"

Naruto reluctantly walked over. On the way, Sasuke muttered "idiot," triggering Naruto, who tried to retaliate—only for Iruka to smack him with chalk.

Kirito watched Naruto at the door, marveling at fate. Naruto was mischievous, but kind. He and Sasuke just never saw eye to eye.

It had been a month since school started, and Sasuke had already fought with Kirito multiple times—losing each time, despite Kirito giving him some private coaching.

Ninja School mainly taught culture—language, math, Sengoku-era history, and the Will of Fire. Chakra extraction was also included, but most teachers didn't care much. Only Iruka was consistently responsible.

Ding-a-ling

The dismissal bell rang.

Iruka packed up and left the classroom.

Naruto sprang up to pack his bag. Sasuke walked over to Kirito with his hands in his pockets.

"I challenge you."

Sasuke was acting up again. Kirito raised an eyebrow. At first, he'd call him Sasuke in his mind, but now he called him by that nickname—not aloud though. It wouldn't carry the same meaning in this world.

Ever since Kirito beat Sasuke in a class spar, Sasuke wouldn't leave him alone. Kirito didn't refuse—having a training partner was better than solo practice.

"The usual spot," Kirito nodded.

Naruto cheered loudly. He always got excited when Sasuke got beaten.

The usual spot was the forest clearing where they'd once encountered Uchiha Itachi. Kirito's class had claimed it. Older kids tried to take it over—until Kirito beat them up. Now the space belonged to him and his group.

About ten kids, forming a small gang, headed to the clearing.

Konoha's Ninja School ended early, leaving a lot of time before dinner. Over the past month, this forest became their fixed playground.

Girls played house; boys sparred and practiced Ninjutsu.

When the parents noticed, they didn't stop it. Some even encouraged it.

At first, Kirito only trained them in Taijutsu, but later, he joined in the fun himself. Blame it on his child's body—definitely not childishness.

Sasuke and Kirito faced each other, forming the confrontation seal.

"Go, Sasuke!" Sakura Haruno shouted, hoping he'd notice her.

"Go, Kirito!" Ino Yamanaka chimed in, not to be outdone.

The girls were split between Sasuke and Kirito fans.

Unlike Sasuke's cold attitude, Kirito's cheerful personality and combat skill made him just as popular. If he topped the school in future exams, it would only boost his popularity.

Kirito didn't think much about it. After all, he was just a kid, and in his past life, his favorite was Tsunade—not anyone from the younger generation.

Sasuke attacked first, tossing a shuriken.

Kirito dodged calmly, blocking only lethal moves. This sparring was easy for him—perfect for reflex training.

Bang!

Kirito caught Sasuke's right leg mid-kick, pushed hard. Sasuke flipped in mid-air, landed, slid two meters on the grass, and began forming seals.

Snake—Ram—Monkey—Boar—Horse—Tiger.

"Fire Release: Great Fireball Jutsu!"

A fireball spewed from Sasuke's mouth, swelling rapidly.

Kirito didn't dare be careless—that could seriously injure him.

He quickly formed seals.

Tiger—Snake—Rat—Snake—Tiger.

"Water Release: Water Formation Wall!"

A wall of water spun up from the earth—not around him, but toward the fireball.

Boom!

The fireball exploded against the rotating water wall. Smoke rose, but the water wall contained the blast.

So, he'd learned Ninjutsu after all, Kirito thought. He had assumed it was just a sunny day's aftermath.

Sasuke sat on the grass, panting. That Fire Jutsu drained him. He looked at the crater from the explosion, his face filled with frustration. He'd known he couldn't beat Kirito, but he hadn't expected to lose so cleanly.

Kirito hadn't expected Sasuke to learn Fire Release either. Most Genin took months to learn a single Ninjutsu—let alone use it in combat.

That's why even Jonin often used just a handful of techniques. A faster Ninjutsu meant higher survival odds. If everyone needed 40+ seals like Zabuza, they'd never land a hit. Though, Zabuza's mental breakdown caused his sloppy casting.

Their classmates cheered. Ino's eyes sparkled with admiration.

Naruto put his hands on his hips and challenged Sasuke again. Sasuke just rolled his eyes and thumped him.

"Such a bother," Shikamaru muttered, lying on the grass, watching the clouds.
