Chapter 68 - Time Flies, Two Years Pass

After returning to King Wu's Mansion, Shi Yi didn't immediately begin cultivating. Instead, he went straight into his Ten Celestial Heavens.

Inside the small world within the Ten Celestial Heavens.

The air was filled with the sweet scent of birdsong and flowers, a truly pleasant fragrance.

In the center of the small world, the Willow Deity sat cross-legged, unmoving, like an ancient willow tree that had existed since the beginning of time.

It was only when Shi Yi leaned in close, seemingly with some illicit intentions, as if he wanted to "ride" her and then destroy her ancestors, that she slowly opened her eyes.

And as she opened her eyes, the myriad stars of the heavens were reflected behind her.

It made her seem so sacred and inviolable.

"Rebellious disciple, why aren't you cultivating properly? What are you up to now?"

The Willow Deity's voice held a hint of impatience. Shi Yi bothered her every day, and she was starting to get annoyed. Couldn't this rebellious disciple, who only wanted to climb trees, give her some space?

"Teacher, you said you'd grant me a reasonable request if I broke the Virtual Spirit Realm's record five times."

Shi Yi, seemingly fearless, embraced the Willow Deity's slender waist, which was easily held in one hand. He knew she wouldn't resist physical contact with him; otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to embrace her at all.

Some things…

You can't expect a woman to take the initiative. The man has to be proactive.

Perhaps in the Willow Deity's eyes, this was just normal intimacy between a teacher and disciple. As long as Shi Yi didn't overstep, didn't move his hands inappropriately, and only hugged her, she could accept it. After all, it meant that Shi Yi was fond of her.

Unless someone harbored ill intentions from the start, no one would dislike their disciple being affectionate.

Willow Deity, although she felt that Shi Yi was a troublesome person, didn't necessarily reject her disciple's closeness.

But in Shi Yi's view...

Willow Deity was the white moonlight in his heart, a true goddess. When there was an opportunity to take advantage, he'd seize it. With the accumulation of time, one day he would succeed in "climbing the tree."

Being timid and hesitant would never accomplish anything.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Shi Yi understood.

Women like Willow Deity, who didn't know how many millions of years she had lived, had seen geniuses countless times, like the sands of the Ganges River. The possibility of her taking a liking to him, a junior, was close to zero.

Her Dao heart was firm, and she had never had the concept of a Dao companion. She had accepted him as a disciple because of his Double-Pupiled identity, not because she was suddenly feeling benevolent.

But if you don't strive for something, it will always remain out of reach. Nothing is truly impossible in this world.

Reality is even more absurd than novels. So many seemingly aloof and unapproachable women end up being won over.

If you think it's impossible, then it probably is.

Because you yourself believe it's impossible.

But Shi Yi never thought like that.

He felt he had a good chance.

A woman three years older is like holding a gold brick.

A woman thirty years older... you get a whole kingdom.

A woman who is three thousand years old can enter the ranks of the immortals.

Shi Yi couldn't even begin to imagine a woman who was three million years old, but one thing was certain: if he could latch onto this thigh, his future would be limitless.

Although this approach smacked of being a freeloader, if it could save him decades, or even millions of years, of detours, then occasionally being a kept man was acceptable.

Thinking of this.

Shi Yi rubbed his stomach. His stomach had always been weak, and occasionally eating soft food could aid digestion. Moreover, this soft food was delicious and tender; just holding it felt wonderful.

Willow Deity is so amazing!

"Aren't you dissatisfied with the path your teacher has arranged?" Willow Deity's tone was calm and unwavering.

Honestly.

She didn't understand Shi Yi's infatuation with her. There were so many women outside: princesses,仙子, demonesses, and beauties of the human world.

Yet, he was particularly fond of this willow tree, while her Dao heart was an unbreakable stone.

A disciple was acceptable.

A Dao partner was not.

Her Dao heart was like a stubborn stone, unyielding, not allowing her to be touched by love, an emotion that would affect her cultivation.

She had walked this path alone, accustomed to solitude and loneliness. A disciple was already the limit.

However.

If Shi Yi knew what the Willow Deity was thinking...

He would tell her that there was a saying: "Dripping water wears away the stone."

"I don't mind, absolutely not, Teacher, don't say that. I just want to try to walk my own path, to carve out a path to the heavens. If it doesn't work, I won't stubbornly persist, and I'll follow Teacher's guidance then."

Shi Yi nuzzled against the Willow Deity, the scent of her fragrance filling his nostrils.

"Your Dao heart is so unstable, fickle and indecisive. You haven't even tried, yet you've already planned your escape," the Willow Deity's voice finally lost its calmness, laced with a hint of disappointment.

Who, before even trying, would already prepare a way out in case of failure?

With such a cautious mindset, how could one ever walk the path to the heavens?

"Teacher, as the saying goes, 'Prepare for failure before you strive for victory.' If one path doesn't work, then change paths. Someone who stubbornly follows one path to the end is either foolish or stupid. Especially those who sacrifice themselves for the sake of the common people, Teacher, I swear, I didn't mean you."

As Shi Yi spoke, he suddenly noticed the Willow Deity's expression change. Her gaze, fixed on him, caused his heart to skip a beat. He immediately swore he didn't mean it that way.

Did he say something wrong? Did he just happen to touch her sore spot?

However, what Shi Yi didn't know was...

His words pushed the Willow Deity another step closer to the abyss of darkness, causing her mindset to shift gradually from selfless to selfish.

She no longer felt so great and selfless, even considering giving up entirely and just letting Shi Yi take care of her. With a disciple to look after her, she could live a peaceful and happy life.

Not bad.

In the Willow Deity's eyes, Shi Yi's cautiousness and tendency to plan for the future was just giving up. His Dao heart was not firm enough; he didn't even have the courage to stick to a single path.

Of course.

The Willow Deity wasn't in the mood to discuss Shi Yi's Dao heart. She was just bewildered by her past sacrifices and the value of those sacrifices.

She had the ability to live well.

Why did she have to sacrifice herself for others? Sacrifice and dedication had not earned her any gratitude, only betrayal, being sold out, and disappointment.

She sacrificed so much for the Nine Heavens and Ten Earths, for the Immortal Domain. Yet, who cared about her? They were all just hoping she would die sooner.

Once she was dead, her corpse and her techniques would all be theirs.

And this was considered a great opportunity, a massive stroke of luck in the eyes of the world.

Some things are unpleasant to say.

But once spoken, they reveal the truth.

Weren't all the so-called opportunities in this world just the result of strong individuals dying?

And weren't the weaker ones seeking their opportunities from the remains of those stronger individuals?

Even the commonly known treasure grounds were formed only after countless people died there, leaving behind enough opportunities to become what the outside world considered treasure grounds.

Sounds pathetic.

But that's the essence of this world, a world of mutual predation. Humans devour humans, beasts devour beasts, humans devour beasts, and beasts devour humans. This world inherently has no darkness; humanity imbues it. Yet, these very people are still searching for the so-called source of darkness.

Time flies, and two years have passed.

During these two years, Shi Yi diligently cultivated, reaching the peak of the Transformation Spirit Realm, ready to break through to the Inscription Realm at any moment.

Actually,

The Inscription Realm and the Array Formation Realm are considered a single major realm; their essence is quite similar.

The Inscription Realm draws upon the runes of ferocious beasts and raptors, inscribing special runes within the body. The Array Formation Realm builds upon these runes, initially deducing formations, allowing one to inscribe various killing arrays within the body, thereby greatly amplifying their combat strength.

Meanwhile,

After another two years, Shi Hao, who had left home and was traveling the Great Wilderness, broke through to the Ninth Celestial Heaven.

"Two years have passed. It's time to go home. It doesn't seem right to return empty-handed. I heard that a mountain treasure will appear deep in the Great Wilderness."
