Camila's POV
I had put my phone on do not disturb
It was flipped over, face-down, while I tried to force my eyes to stay on the chemistry textbook in front of me and notes spralled out over my bed i was a all round student i did humanitys and sciencs on the side I played 2 sports and needed to study ,Except the words weren't sticking.
How was I supposed to focus when my thoughts kept drifting back to him?
Anthony.
He'd texted me earlier. Something simple and sweet. I could still picture it:
"Hope your study session isn't melting your brain. Want a milkshake after? :)" he also apologizes again and asked for a rain check it was honestly fine he was so sweet and considerate
But I hadn't responded. Not because I didn't want to—but because I wanted to too much.
What if I was reading into things? What if I was just someone he felt bad for?
I sighed and stood up, tossing on a hoodie. Maybe walking to the pastry shop would help. Maybe he'd be there. Or maybe not
But what I saw when I walked in…
That wasn't what I expected.
Anthony was there, alright—seated at his usual table.
So was she.
Lana. Deron's friend.
She leaned a little too close, smiled a little too much, acting like she belonged there.
And for a split second, my heart dropped. She was trying to measure her hand against his
Was that all it took to replace me?
Was I just another girl who misread things?
I turned around and left, swallowing hard.
And just to make things worse, before I made it out of the shop, my eyes caught another scene:
She touched his hair I remember while he was driving me to school he mentioned how his mom used to rulfel his hair even tho he hated it but she didn't care and did it to tease him as a child. And yet Lana
She reached over, twirling one of his curls with her finger.
My stomach twisted.
He'd explicitly told me that he didn't like people touching his hair. That it was a boundary. His thing.
And now she was playing with it like it was nothing.
He didn't flinch. Didn't stop her.
It was almost comical—how fake his rules had been.
I walked faster. This time, I didn't look back.
Anthony's POV
I had no idea what just happened.
One second, I was dodging awkward small talk from this girl who recognized me from Camila's orbit—and the next, I looked up and saw Camila was out the door.
Her expression said everything.
I stood up fast, heart thudding.
"Camila—wait!"
But she was already gone.
Lana blinked. "Oh. Was that her?"
I didn't answer. I was already halfway to the door, clutching my jacket and silently cursing myself for ever coming here today. I should have just gone home after the bored meeting
All I'd wanted…
Was to maybe run into her.
To maybe see that smile again.
Now I wasn't sure if I'd even get a chance to explain. She ran out and then she was on the back of some guys Motorcycle and she was gone I cursed my self and wondered who was he what even happened that girl pointed out a bit of leave in condition in my hair and mentioned how Camila hated to see when product wasn't applied properly and it was an ick to her. I stiffened and before I knew it she was touching my hair I hated it.Camila must have seen it. did she misunderstand? did she think I was into that Lana girl ? I got in my car and headed for her house
