Hearing Tsunade's words, Mizuki immediately sensed trouble. His wounds hadn't even healed yet, and now he was being targeted again. He'd been stuck on mission after mission with no break—and wound up injured to top it off. Not even a single day off. It was rough.
"That is…" Mizuki frowned as he spoke, "I wanted to ask for some time off…"
"Denied." Before Mizuki could finish, Tsunade cut him off.
"At least hear me out—I have a reason."
"No reason works. Look at other ninja—they're all working hard too."
"Well… I'm getting married. Does that count for anything?" Mizuki managed a nervous smile under Tsunade's firm gaze.
"Eh?" Taken completely by surprise, Tsunade hesitated for a moment. "That kind of reason?"
After thinking it over with a pained expression, she said, "Although it may seem inappropriate to take leave at this time, especially as a Jonin, I suppose I can be understanding. Something joyful might help brighten our gloomy village lately. Alright then, how long do you want off?"
"A month… would that be okay?" Mizuki asked carefully.
"No way. Don't even dream about it," Tsunade instantly crushed his hopes.
"How about half a month? That's the minimum."
"I'll give you one week maximum," Tsunade instantly halved his request.
"One week is too short. At least ten days?"
"No! Just one week. Take it or leave it."
Mizuki tried to negotiate further, but Tsunade quickly extinguished any hope he had left.
"Fine. One week will do. Barely enough."
"Come see me after that week. There are many complicated matters waiting for you to handle."
"One week? But I haven't started preparing yet. Besides, look at me—I'm still injured. Shouldn't we treat my injuries first before counting my vacation days?"
"You're asking for leave without any preparation at all?" Tsunade sighed, rubbing her temples in exasperation. "Once you've recovered, it'll already take three or four days. You won't settle for anything less than ten days, will you?"
"But isn't that a reasonable justification? Surely you wouldn't send an injured person on missions?"
"Alright, fine. Ten days it is." Since that was the case, Tsunade gave in. "But ten days later, I expect no more excuses or complaints from you."
"You've got my word—I don't go back on promises," Mizuki boasted confidently.
"Then that's settled."
Once they were done discussing, Tsunade handed Mizuki a scroll and solemnly said, "This is what I mentioned earlier—the inheritance of the Uzumaki clan. Have a good read."
Mizuki accepted the scroll, feeling its cover made of unknown material, and opened it slightly to glance inside.
Even though he was somewhat prepared, when he saw the name listed near the front, Mizuki still felt his heart jolt.
He closed the scroll, took a deep breath, and said, "This is far too valuable…"
Shaking her head, Tsunade replied, "This object has been kept in the village for many years now. But ever since Kushina Uzumaki died, nobody has truly understood these things anymore."
"Alright," Tsunade sighed, her expression turning thoughtful as if recalling distant memories.
After a moment of silence, she continued, "The only known surviving heir of the Uzumaki clan—Naruto Uzumaki—clearly doesn't seem like someone who would understand this. Most of the sealing techniques used in our village have been passed down from ancient times. Ever since the Fourth's sacrifice, there hasn't been a single ninja who truly mastered sealing arts or brought any innovation to the field. In over a decade, you're actually the first one to make any meaningful progress. So it makes sense to entrust this to you."
"Fine then, I'll take it."
Since she had said that, it meant Tsunade had already thought everything through. Mizuki didn't bother refusing further. At this point, he really did need these resources to expand his knowledge base—researching alone was just taking too long.
"Mmm, take a good look at it. It might be very helpful for your injuries."
"I'll give it a try, although I haven't seen the details yet. From what I can tell, though, it seems completely unrelated to the issue of vitality I'm trying to solve."
"That's exactly my point—even though your medical ninjutsu skills are decent, you're still not a qualified Medical Ninja. Even an ordinary newcomer who doesn't even know how to use a Scalpel could outthink you when it comes to creativity in this area."
Tsunade clearly disagreed with Mizuki.
Though a bit frustrated inside, Mizuki knew Tsunade wasn't entirely wrong. After all, true expertise comes from deep specialization. No matter how much he looked down on other Medical Ninjas, he couldn't deny the fact that he himself remained an outsider to the field.
Seeing Mizuki stay silent, Tsunade continued, "The jutsu in there must be unfamiliar to you, but I'm sure you've heard quite a bit about it."
"Yes." Mizuki nodded. "For someone like me who wants to master sealing techniques, such powerful methods capable even of suppressing tailed beasts have long been something I wanted to observe firsthand."
"The Adamantine Sealing Chains were once legendary among sealing experts. But since the destruction of the Uzumaki Clan, they've practically vanished."
"I understand that. Still, this sealing technique relies on the Uzumaki Clan's extraordinary vitality and unique physiology—it would probably be impossible for civilians to handle."
"You haven't even seen it yet, and you're already figuring this out. The more you say, the more I believe handing this over to you was the right call."
Praising him, Tsunade added, "You're absolutely right. Stories often describe the Adamantine Sealing Chains as chains formed from explosive chakra releases, binding enemies—even capturing tailed beasts. Powerful sealing techniques like this are rare, but not unheard of. However, most require multiple users working together and come with many limitations. Techniques like the Adamantine Sealing Chains, which can be freely used by a single person? Extremely rare."
"There probably isn't something that convenient without a catch."
"Of course there's a cost involved. Think about it—even with your chakra going all out, could a normal person ever hope to bind a tailed beast? One with far better quality and far more chakra than you? Sounds impossible, right?"
"Now that you mention it, yeah, that does seem pretty strange."
"I don't know everything about this jutsu, but when you've got a Secret Technique unique to your clan, it only makes sense that you'd build your Ninjutsu around your clan's special chakra."
Mizuki couldn't agree more with Tsunade's point. The best example is the Hyuga clan. Most of their techniques are designed to make full use of the Byakugan's power. Take the Gentle Fist — it was practically made for the Byakugan.
