Hell's Kitchen Lucky Diner
"So your old man wants to send this troublesome guy over here?" Alex Ray looked at the two brothers standing before him with a headache.
The two standing there were the notorious brothers Thor and Loki.
There was no part in this plan that made sense. Wasn't Loki supposed to be with the Time Variance Authority now?
No. Loki, the God of Stories, had been born—but this guy in front of Alex was nothing more than a supporting role.
But was Odin treating Hell's Kitchen like some kind of rehab center?
All kinds of problem children were being dumped here.
Alex looked down on Odin a little. Sure, Odin was a successful king—the Allfather of the Nine Realms sounded impressive.
But as a father, Odin was a colossal failure. His own family, including Hela, had been sealed away for thousands of years because of his rigid, patriarchal rule. For perspective, Sun Wukong was only sealed under the Five Finger Mountain for five hundred years.
Alex understood Hela's pain well. After all, she had contributed greatly to Odin's conquests, only to be imprisoned in the end. Anyone would rebel after that.
Thor was clearly Odin's favorite—but that favoritism had made Thor arrogant, though he'd mellowed somewhat recently.
Of course, that favoritism was practical: Odin needed Thor to succeed him. If there had been other options, Thor might've been treated like Loki.
Speaking of Loki—Odin was fully aware of all Loki's misdeeds but never stopped or taught him.
Instead, they just dumped Loki on Alex. Did that mean they would throw Hela to him next?
Was Alex supposed to be some kind of therapist?
Thor looked embarrassed. "You know that Loki's latest screw-up means he'd be locked up by my father without question. This is serious. The punishment would last a long time."
Thor squeezed Loki's shoulders. "But I couldn't bear to see him imprisoned. So I talked to Dad and arranged another punishment—exile."
"Exile?" Alex stared at Thor and Loki, speechless. Could Thor really speak after this?
So Hell's Kitchen was some kind of frozen wasteland for exiles? Loki was being exiled here.
"Thanks a lot," Alex said, teeth clenched.
Thor had caused such a huge mess, and Loki was nothing but trouble. First, he killed his godfather Odin, exiled Thor, and tried to take over Asgard.
And failed.
After that, he boarded Thanos's ship again, got the Mind Stone from Thanos, and promised to grab the Tesseract to hand over to Thanos. In exchange, Thanos's Chitauri army would help him conquer Earth.
But he failed again.
Not only that, but because of Loki's blunders, Thanos lost the Mind Stone and three generals of the Black Order.
Thankfully, Thanos never officially adopted Loki as his godson—otherwise, Thanos would've been dragged deeper into the mess.
Of course, both times Loki failed because of Alex's intervention—but even without Alex, Loki was doomed to fail.
And now he was coming to Hell's Kitchen again. Was he planning to make this place his next target?
Couldn't conquer Earth? Then conquer Hell's Kitchen first, right?
Alex suspected Odin was trying to dodge responsibility. Loki had caused Thanos major losses, so any sane person would know Thanos wouldn't let him off easy.
Alex guessed Odin was planning something and couldn't protect Loki anymore—so only Earth could keep him safe.
No matter how Alex looked at it, Loki was a huge problem.
Whenever he remembered the scene where Loki knelt on one knee and said with heartfelt sincerity, "I've wandered half my life, only regretting I never met a wise master. If you don't abandon me, I'll gladly be your adopted father!" Alex shuddered.
He immediately refused. "No. This small corner of Hell's Kitchen can't hold a great god like Loki. Find someone else. I really can't do this favor, Thor."
"No, Alex, please help me," Thor begged. "Dad already said he gave you the reward. Most importantly, Loki really admires the sorcerers of Kamar-Taj and wants to learn magic there. Please help. Don't worry—Loki has definitely turned over a new leaf! To make sure he can't cause trouble, Dad sealed away his divine powers. Now, he's just a normal guy."
Thor's desperation was palpable. Afraid Alex wouldn't believe him, he quickly pulled the expressionless Loki up and urged Alex to look closely—to see for himself that what he said was true.
Thor's words confused Alex. He frowned, thinking about the reward Odin had mentioned.
When had he ever accepted anything from Odin?
Then he recalled the life token from the daiki. So the old man knew Alex had it.
"Why call this a reward? That was given to me by the daiki itself. The old man Odin is trying to get something for nothing."
Alex then used his Observation Haki to scrutinize Loki. Indeed, Loki's divine powers were gone.
Still, Alex rejected him.
Loki noticed Alex's rejection and stood up expressionlessly. He hadn't really wanted to come to Hell's Kitchen anyway. After all, he was a god. How could he settle in this rundown place?
He'd rather be locked away than stuck here.
If he'd lost his powers and was dragged here by Thor, who would want to come?
Just as Alex was about to stand and see the guest out, the Time Stone in his system space began to pulse.
Alex felt the stone sending a message, urging him to accept Loki.
He listened carefully. The voice from the Time Stone was broken but clear enough: "Accept... Loki... the reward..."
Alex's heart stirred. Could this be Loki, the God of Stories, communicating through the Time Stone?
He frowned, thinking back on everything about Loki.
Alex had long suspected the Time Stone was left by Loki, the God of Stories. After all, Loki's World Tree color was green—and the Time Stone was green, too.
With that, Alex decided to keep Loki.
"Wait. I'll keep this guy Loki—but you're not allowed to interfere with how I handle him!"
