After hearing Dr. Banner's explanation, Steve and the other Avengers realized how rude they had been.
Although they hadn't figured everything out yet, it was clear that these two people had come to help. And they had almost picked a fight with them. That was on them.
"I'm really sorry. We were too presumptuous just now," Steve stepped forward quickly and apologized with sincerity.
He was worried that because of his earlier recklessness, Alex Ray and his team would refuse to lend them the Infinity Stones.
Alex noticed Steve's concern and joked, "The guests are here, and you're not even offering coffee or tea?"
From that, it was clear Alex hadn't taken their earlier tension to heart.
"So, you're from a parallel universe and came here to help us. How many Infinity Stones do you have?" asked Fat Thor, his belly stretching his armor as he stepped forward.
Hearing this, Nebula—standing in the back—narrowed her eyes with a glint of interest.
"Three. Two are with me, and one is with Strange," Alex said, sipping his tea.
Upon hearing that, Thor walked over to Alex and slapped Strange on the back—who sat beside him with a helpless expression. "Brother, I didn't expect to see you again."
Strange frowned, and instinctively leaned away, shrugging off Thor's hand.
He didn't recall being close to Thor. Even in their timeline, Strange had only met him once.
"So, the version of me in this universe... is really dead?" Strange asked. Though Dr. Banner had mentioned it before, he was still curious about the details.
"Dead," Tony answered bluntly, though his eyes were full of memory and regret.
The room fell silent. Whether they were thinking about comrades lost in the last war or Natasha, who had just died, a heavy quiet settled over them.
Strange looked like he wanted to ask more questions—perhaps how he died, so he could be better prepared.
But Alex spoke first. "Tony, you're looking a lot older."
He wanted to change the subject—and Tony truly did look different. His gray hair and wrinkles made him look over twenty years older than the Tony in Alex's world.
Alex's comment snapped Tony out of his thoughts. "The version of me in your world does seem familiar to you... and yeah, he's a lot younger. Still just as narcissistic, though."
"Oh? So you've met the Tony from our universe?" Alex raised an eyebrow. He didn't expect that this Tony had already encountered the one from his world.
"Well… yeah. I guess I owe you an apology," Tony said, looking genuinely remorseful. Alex didn't respond immediately.
Tony continued, "I was going to sneak into Hell's Kitchen to steal the Infinity Stones. But I got caught before I even started."
Alex instantly understood. Tony must have learned through some means that he held the Stones and tried to find them.
"The Stones are always with me," Alex replied calmly.
Seeing that Alex didn't seem angry, Tony asked another question. "But the Tony in your world recognized me in the end. And he knew he had a daughter. Has he traveled to another parallel universe? Or did you tell him?"
Tony was confused. According to all his intel, the Tony in Alex's world hadn't yet married or had a child.
Aside from multiverse travel, he couldn't understand how that Tony knew about Morgan.
Tony had noticed that Alex disappeared from his homeworld at intervals—it was highly likely he'd been visiting other universes.
"Yes. I told him. I've been to several parallel universes," Alex replied nonchalantly.
Captain America took a step forward and asked, "Why is there a Captain Carter in your universe? What's going on over there?"
The other Avengers looked at Alex with curiosity. They, too, were eager to learn about this other universe.
"Our world is very different from yours. I'm sure Dr. Banner and Tony can confirm that," Alex said, looking to the two men.
After all, one had seen it in person, and the other had seen it on the internet.
"Yes, it's incredible—and honestly, kind of enviable," Dr. Banner nodded.
"They've got mutants, tons of superhero organizations we've never heard of," he added.
"And a lot of that is probably because of Alex," Tony chimed in.
"In their universe, the Chitauri army was much stronger than the one we faced. And the number of heroes who participated in the Battle of New York? At least a hundred times more than ours," Banner continued.
"Right. With more fighters on the field, we didn't feel much pressure during the war," Alex added casually.
Through their conversation, the Avengers were beginning to understand just how vastly different Alex's universe was from theirs.
With Banner's help, a picture of Alex's world was forming clearly in their minds.
Words like "envy," "terrifying," and "powerful" kept echoing in their thoughts.
Especially this seemingly ordinary man standing in front of them. According to Banner, it was Alex Ray who single-handedly wiped out the entire Chitauri army.
That revelation shook them. Many of the Avengers present had participated in that war. They remembered how much destruction the Chitauri caused.
It was burned into their memories.
And now, standing before them was a man who had not only eliminated the Chitauri but had also taken down General Glaive with his own people.
Compared to their own universe, Alex's was overflowing with both the quantity and quality of superheroes.
Even more shocking was hearing that the battle had very few casualties. The worst losses were economic.
Money could be earned again. But once a person was gone, they were gone.
Compared to wealth, life was far more precious.
Honestly, the Avengers were envious—of Alex, his allies, and their world.
And all of this was quietly recorded by Nebula, still standing silently in the back of the room.
Meanwhile, aboard a distant space battleship…
"Interesting… You're another traveler through time and space. Let's see if you truly have the power they say you do."
