"What's wrong, Alex Ray? Is that guy really coming?" Strange asked anxiously, his eyes following Alex's intense gaze toward the sky.
Alex Ray's expression remained calm and unwavering. Though his face showed no fear, the heavy atmosphere around him made it clear that a storm was brewing. The Avengers standing nearby could sense the looming crisis.
Upon hearing Strange's question, the Avengers sprang into action.
They quickly and efficiently moved Dr. Banner, who was still kneeling on the ground, onto a nearby sofa to ensure his safety.
Then, without hesitation, they formed a defensive perimeter and turned their attention toward the direction Alex had been watching.
Each of their faces was set with grim determination. They knew—this battle was going to be unlike any other.
"Is it finally here?" Steve Rogers murmured, standing tall amidst the group, his eyes glinting with resolve. The last time they faced Thanos, they had failed. Friends—no, family—had been lost. This time, he wouldn't let history repeat itself. Not again. Not on his watch.
He clenched his fists, the weight of their previous loss still etched into his heart—but now, tempered with the will to win.
Suddenly, two missiles tore through the sky.
A violent explosion rocked the battlefield, slamming into the heart of the Avengers compound.
The ground trembled beneath them as fire and debris erupted around them.
Reacting instantly, Alex Ray and Strange activated the Mirror Dimension. In a flash, they pulled all the Avengers into its warped safety, shielding them from the brunt of the destruction.
"Move aside, Thanos! I've been waiting a long time for this!" Thor growled, his eyes locked on the monstrous spaceship hanging ominously in the sky.
He recognized it immediately—there was no mistaking it. It was the very same ship that had brought about his downfall. He had been killed by that ship… and so had his brother, Loki.
That ship had taken his home, his people. Half of Asgard had perished under Thanos' command. Now, Thor stood not as a king, but as a lone god without a kingdom.
Staring into the heavens, rage surged through him like wildfire. He had already slain Thanos once, yet the presence before him filled him with even greater fury.
Thor raised Stormbreaker high, roaring as a bolt of lightning struck down from the clouds.
With the crackling thunder came his armor—golden and gleaming—encasing him in battle-ready power.
Alex looked around at the Avengers now gathered inside the Mirror Dimension. Their expressions made one thing clear: they were ready.
He gave a small nod, then opened the portal back to reality.
A beam of light pulsed—and the Avengers reappeared amidst the smoldering ruins of their base, standing united against the dark sky.
Then it came—a massive blue beam shot down from the enemy ship.
As the light dissipated, a hulking figure emerged on the battlefield: Thanos.
Clad in his battle armor, helmet on, and wielding his colossal double-edged sword, he surveyed the Avengers with cold contempt.
He didn't speak at first. Instead, his gaze wandered across the devastated Earth.
"So… this is the future?" Thanos muttered, more to himself than anyone else.
His voice carried a strange tension—conflicted and distant, as if torn between pride and disappointment.
On one hand, he was satisfied. His future self had achieved his vision—gathering all six Infinity Stones and wiping out half the universe to restore balance.
On the other, he was puzzled. The survivors—those he had allowed to live—had rebelled. They had gone so far as to tamper with time itself, hoping to undo what had been done.
That ingratitude… it irked him.
Clearly, he had been too merciful.
This time, he would go further.
If they didn't want peace through balance—then he, Thanos, would force them to accept peace.
He took a seat on a massive slab of stone, his eyes falling on the three figures slowly approaching him: Iron Man (Tony Stark), Thor, and Captain America (Steve Rogers).
A smirk crept across his face, bitter and mocking.
"You can't accept failure," he said quietly, "but in the end… here you are. Still facing me."
He rose slightly, voice deepening. "I once believed that if I eliminated half of all life, the rest would thrive. But you've proven that… impossible."
The three said nothing. They formed a cautious triangle around him, weapons ready, but waiting.
Their silence wasn't weakness—it was conviction.
They wouldn't back down.
They wouldn't stop.
"As long as people cling to the past," Thanos mused, "they will never embrace the future. And so—they rebel."
From the back, Strange leaned toward Alex and whispered, "Honestly, he's got a point. If Thanos were born on Earth, he might have made a great philosopher."
Strange had been dragged into this by Alex. He'd have preferred to stay hidden in the Mirror Dimension.
At that moment, Tony finally stepped forward. "Yeah," he said, voice dry and sharp. "We're stubborn like that."
Thanos looked up at him. "Then I should thank you. Because now, I understand what must be done."
He stood slowly, and a dark energy began to radiate from him.
Powerful. Unstoppable.
"I will reduce this universe to dust," he intoned, voice low and rumbling. "And from its ashes, I will forge a new one. A universe without pain, without hatred… without war. Only peace. Only gratitude."
His eyes burned with zeal. He placed his helmet back on with finality.
The Avengers didn't need to hear more—they could feel the shift.
This wasn't the Thanos they had fought before.
This one was ready to obliterate everything.
"A universe built on blood?" someone scoffed.
Thanos' head turned toward the voice.
"I don't need your understanding. I don't need their understanding. But you..." His eyes locked onto Alex Ray. "You, outsider from another universe… you should understand me."
