Chapter 448 - Chapter 448: The Reincarnator Under Attack

Liam Young felt a sudden darkness sweep across his vision, followed by an intense wave of weightlessness.

When he opened his eyes again, he found himself standing in an unfamiliar place—Hell's Kitchen, inside the Marvel Universe.

He scanned his surroundings. Dozens of reincarnators stood scattered throughout the area, dressed in a strange mix of modern, futuristic, and even ancient clothing. Some stood silent and composed, others sat cross-legged in thought, while a few kept watch with sharp eyes, scanning every movement around them. Each one seemed immersed in their own strategies and plans.

The sight made Liam curious. According to the typical rhythm of the Main God Space, reincarnators should be deployed individually or in smaller teams, actively carrying out missions. Why were so many gathered here in one place at once?

Still, he didn't act on his curiosity.

He understood that among reincarnators, true trust was a luxury. Most preferred to work alone, guarding their strength, secrets, and pride. Mutual suspicion was the norm.

So, he simply suppressed his questions, quietly preparing to leave the crowded square to begin his own mission.

Just as he turned to go, a loud, boisterous voice suddenly rang out from behind him. "Hey, kid! Lucky you—you get to join my team!"

Liam turned to the voice and saw a large, muscular man walking toward him with a grin full of confidence and arrogance. He was a reincarnator too, one who exuded a powerful presence that made even Hell's Kitchen seem to tremble under his boots.

"I'm Li Kuang, the 100th-ranked reincarnator—also known as Iron Fist Li Kuang," the man introduced himself, puffing up his chest. His voice carried both pride and condescension. "Try not to drag me down. And for god's sake, don't die right away—I really don't want to waste time explaining the rules of this place again."

Liam's heart trembled slightly. He didn't expect to encounter a top-ranked reincarnator right at the start.

Taking a deep breath, he steadied himself. One day, he would stand among the elite too.

Li Kuang crossed his arms and continued, "Let me brief you. We're currently in the second phase of the main quest. We've been teleported to a new version of Hell's Kitchen. And the person we're after… is Alex Ray."

The name hit Liam like a lightning bolt.

"Alex Ray isn't just strong—he's dangerously smart. Ruthless. He's the key target of our mission. We find him, and we eliminate him," Li Kuang said grimly, his eyes narrowing.

Liam nodded silently.

He understood now: this wouldn't be an easy mission. But since he had arrived, there was no turning back.

"This Hell's Kitchen isn't the same one we've heard of in the Marvel Universe," Li Kuang added. "It's crawling with unknowns. If you want to live, rookie, you'd better be careful."

With that, Li Kuang turned to leave.

Before he could walk away, Liam called out, "If it's that dangerous, why are you all still here? Waiting for someone? Gathering intel?"

Li Kuang rolled his eyes. "Open your panel. We're in a restricted state. Happens every time you travel between multiverses. There's always a temporary cooldown—no combat allowed. You just happened to arrive during that window."

Liam opened his system panel and saw a countdown timer: two minutes and thirty seconds remaining.

"If it weren't for the mission, I wouldn't bother explaining any of this. Just don't die too fast. If you get overwhelmed, lure them toward me—I might help you once as a temporary teammate."

With that, Li Kuang turned away and ignored him.

Clearly, if the Main God hadn't assigned them to the same task, Li Kuang wouldn't have spared Liam a second glance.

Liam stood in the so-called static space, observing the bizarre and tense environment. Although it was supposed to be a frozen period, they were still physically within Hell's Kitchen—an area known for its chaos, unpredictability, and danger.

The air was thick with anticipation, and yet Liam felt calm.

He looked up. The sun hung high above the skyline, its rays far more piercing than usual—too bright, too unnatural. Something about it made his instincts stir.

There was something wrong here.

Hell's Kitchen had always been gritty and dangerous, but the sky above him now felt… foreign. Ominous.

It was as if the sun itself was watching them—silently whispering secrets he couldn't quite grasp.

But this unease was intangible, too faint to analyze. He chalked it up to gut instinct—an intuition that something deeper was at play.

Still, Liam understood the rules of survival. Overthinking in a place like this would only get you killed.

He shook off the thoughts and focused. The countdown ticked on, each passing second a reminder that the mission was about to begin.

All around him, reincarnators began bracing themselves—drawing weapons, whispering incantations, or adjusting gear. Their eyes gleamed with a dangerous hunger. Some were even grinning.

Points. Kills. Survival.

The countdown hit zero.

With a flash, a shimmering barrier dissolved around them—Pandora's box had been opened.

Dozens of reincarnators surged forward like unleashed hounds, their roars echoing across the crumbling ruins of Hell's Kitchen.

"Charge!"

"Earn those points!"

But just as the wave of reincarnators charged into battle formation, disaster struck.

The sky lit up with a blinding flash—followed by a barrage of magical and elemental attacks.

Beams of scorching energy, crimson flames, spears of ice, and bolts of electricity rained down from above like a meteor storm.

It was a massacre.

"Defensive spells, now!"

"Damn it! Ambush!"

Smoke erupted everywhere. The stench of ozone and burning flesh filled the air. Bodies were torn apart by the blasts—some reincarnators lay twisted and broken, others screaming in pain.

Liam, who had hung back out of caution, stood still and unharmed. But his face was pale. This wasn't just a skirmish.

It was an execution.

The mission was wrong—everything they'd been told was wrong. This wasn't a simple hunt for Alex Ray. It was a trap.

Suddenly, a second wave of attacks hit like a divine punishment.

Flames erupted, lightning exploded, and frost crawled across the ground like a living organism. The sky cracked with thunder, and the echo of arcane chanting rang out like the voice of death itself.

"Avada—eat the big melon!" someone bellowed from above. A streak of green light shot down like a guillotine.

"Flames blazing!" another shouted. A pillar of fire erupted beneath the feet of several unlucky reincarnators, incinerating them instantly.

Spells—real, deadly magic—swarmed the battlefield.

The surviving reincarnators scrambled to counterattack or retreat, but the flood of enemy firepower kept them pinned down.

"Disperse!" a veteran reincarnator shouted.

Without needing a second order, many turned and fled in all directions. Liam was among them, running with every ounce of strength he had.

But even retreat was dangerous. A lightning bolt struck a tree beside him, hurling him to the ground with the shockwave. Dazed, he scrambled up—grateful he hadn't been hit directly.

What the hell is happening?!

The mission was supposed to be a coordinated strike. A straightforward hunt. So why were they being decimated from the moment the fight began?
