Chapter 61 - Chapter 61: The Abyssal Saint Lord Gives a Thumbs Up

Is this really Sister Yue?

Yun Ming instinctively took two steps back. For some reason, the once kind and amiable Sister Yue had suddenly become terrifying at this moment.

In Yun Ming's memory, Sister Yue never had the best temper. That much was obvious from how she had once stormed into the Spirit Transferring Pagoda and slapped the Pagoda Master several times.

But even so, could she really be this extreme?

Wait… maybe she actually could!

Although Long Yeyue had always been a part of Shrek Academy, her style of doing things could hardly be described as noble or upright.

That much could be seen from her title, "Light-Dark Douluo." It wasn't just a description of her martial soul—used to describe her as a person, it was just as fitting.

And now, Long Yeyue was over two hundred years old, and had spent just as many years being a part of Shrek. To her, Shrek was her home! And for the sake of her home, there was nothing she wouldn't do!

Yun Ming had actually realized this a long time ago, but he had simply chosen to ignore it. After all, even though Sister Yue had a fiery temper, she should still be someone who sees the bigger picture. She wouldn't go this far… right?

Crap. Yun Ming suddenly realized—he wasn't so sure anymore!

"Yue-jie… don't tell me you want me to go and… with that girl…"

"Of course!" Long Yeyue answered as if it was the most natural thing in the world. "In the entire Shrek Inner Court, only you have the best chance of getting close to Heita. If you don't go, who will?"

Seeing her so serious, Yun Ming even suspected that if Long Yeyue were a man, she might have gone herself…

"But… I already have Yali!"

"So what? A man having three wives and four concubines is normal. Besides, that girl is so beautiful—aren't you even a little tempted?"

"But she's just a child! And I can't betray Yali… I'm sorry, Sister Yue. I can't agree to this. And please… don't ever bring this up again."

Yun Ming immediately turned around and walked away from Long Yeyue. But his face was filled with pain, as if he were heartbroken by what she had just said.

Meanwhile, Long Yeyue simply stood there, watching him go. A long while later, she let out a cold laugh.

"Heh… looks like this world isn't as rotten as I thought after all…"

A trace of ominous black energy flickered over Long Yeyue's body, but in the blink of an eye, it vanished without a trace. No one noticed anything unusual.

"Long Yeyue, oh Long Yeyue… I had thought everyone in this world was as outrageous as you. But it turns out… there are still some impressive individuals around. I really shouldn't underestimate this world."

By all appearances, this was the same Long Yeyue from Shrek Academy. But that fleeting black aura—did not belong to her twin sacred light-and-dark dragons.

Or rather… that was not power from this world!

"Douluo Plane… who would've thought such a massive change would occur…"

And indeed—it was just as suspected. The one now controlling Long Yeyue was not any lifeform from the Douluo Continent, but someone from a foreign realm trying to invade the Douluo Plane—

The Abyss!

Long Yeyue was a Level 99 Limit Douluo, and also a Four-Word Battle Armor Master. To control someone of that level of power, at the very least, one would need to be a Quasi-God.

And to do it completely silently? That would take nothing less than a True God. Even within the Abyss, there weren't many who met this standard, and such a feat would require their personal involvement.

But what if they had the help of a Super Divine Weapon?

Then all of those conditions would be satisfied.

And the identity of this person became clear—the Lord of the Abyss Realm, wielder of the Super Divine Weapon "Heavenly Holy Abyssal Halberd"—the Abyssal Saint Lord!

However, the Abyssal Saint Lord himself hadn't come in person. Instead, aided by the Super Divine Weapon, he had projected a consciousness clone into the Douluo Continent.

Three years ago, even with the Super Divine Weapon, such a feat would've been impossible—even for the Abyssal Saint Lord. But a lot had changed in those three years.

For instance, the Holy Spirit Cult, which had once worked closely with the Abyss, had suddenly begun cutting back its collaboration. This drastically slowed the invasion.

And yet unexpectedly, the barrier between the Abyss Realm and the Douluo Plane grew thinner!

When the Abyssal Saint Lord discovered this, he was overjoyed. While his subordinates kept the forces of Douluo busy at the front lines, he used the power of the Super Divine Weapon to send a sliver of his consciousness through the weakest point in the barrier, invading the Douluo Plane.

Upon passing through the barrier, the first thing he saw was an ancient golden tree. Atop it stood an elder of great strength—none other than Long Yeyue!

The Abyssal Saint Lord easily took control of her, now positioned at the very top of power, and in doing so, gained deep knowledge of this plane—its power structures, top figures, and more. He immediately hid his identity and began plotting.

After stabilizing his presence, he still felt puzzled. The energy from that golden tree was clearly extraordinary. Normally, this should be the area with the thickest barrier…

Unless… the Douluo Plane was losing energy rapidly!

Though the reason was unclear, the Abyssal Saint Lord was thrilled. This was a huge blessing—for him and for the Abyss!

Shrek Academy was the most influential force in the Douluo Plane. With the right plan, it could become the Abyss's breeding ground and its most effective invasion point.

The only problem was Sea God Pavilion's Pavilion Master—Sky Transcending Douluo Yun Ming.

That man had already touched the realm of gods. If Long Yeyue, under control, used abyssal power, he would notice immediately. So the Abyssal Saint Lord had been laying low this whole time.

If it were his real body, he wouldn't be afraid. But since only a consciousness fragment was here, his odds of defeating Yun Ming were too low. And this might be the best chance the Abyss ever had to invade the Douluo Plane—he couldn't afford to waste it.

So the Abyssal Saint Lord chose strategy over brute force. He would subtly reshape Shrek Academy from the inside until he could destroy the Douluo Plane—making it a part of the Abyss.

But just as he was preparing to act, someone arrived who changed everything—

Heita.

From Long Yeyue's memories, the Abyssal Saint Lord quickly realized how terrifyingly gifted this girl was. Even as a child, she was already stronger than Yun Ming!

If she were allowed to grow, she would become a great threat to the Abyss.

So he must not let Heita leave Shrek Academy. He had to keep her tightly under control.

If possible, the Abyssal Saint Lord even wanted to possess Heita. But something deep and instinctual told him—she was a mortal threat to him. That fear stopped him from making a move. Instead, he schemed from the shadows to weaken her.

Whether it was manipulating the conflict between the Spirit Transferring Pagoda and Shrek, or influencing Shrek's attitude toward Heita—he was behind it all.

If he could trigger a civil war within the Douluo Plane, its strength would further diminish!

"Heh… I really owe you one, Long Yeyue!"

The Abyssal Saint Lord had worried that any bold move he made would expose him to the experts of this world.

But who would've thought Long Yeyue was this insane? Many of the things he did recently were ideas she herself had thought of or done before!

"So no matter how ridiculous the action, as long as I say 'for the sake of Shrek Academy,' it all makes sense…"

If the Douluo Plane were ever destroyed, Long Yeyue would definitely deserve part of the credit.

**"This round… the advantage is mine—the Abyss!"
