Chapter 40 - Chapter 40: Return to The Boys

Chapter 40: Return to The Boys

At this moment, Xia Shang was following behind Goto, watching him carry out a massacre.

"You humans are truly interesting. Seeing your companions fall one by one before your eyes, aren't you angry at all?" Goto was on the rooftop of the Building, tearing off the head of the last SWAT member and throwing it down. After doing this, he turned to look at Xia Shang.

"They're just pests that only destroy the environment. Once they're all dead, I can establish a new world, a new order."

Xia Shang said calmly.

"You are very good." Goto was very satisfied with Xia Shang's ambition. Only people like this were qualified to live in his presence.

"Then let us change this world."

Goto spread his arms, standing at the very edge of the rooftop, looking down at the entire Tokyo.

Until Xia Shang pierced his heart with a palm.

"Who are you!!!" Facing this sudden sneak attack, Goto roared in anger. He cut off Xia Shang's hand at an extremely fast speed. "You think destroying my heart can kill me, you foolish fellow."

"Explode!"

Xia Shang took two steps back and softly uttered the word.

Instantly, the arm that had pierced Goto's heart exploded. Countless blades pierced his body from the inside out.

"Today I will make you understand what an invincible existence is." Goto raised his hand and reached through his chest, digging out the countless blades. He crushed them in his hand, but he didn't notice that some reflective substance was mixed in the fragments. His other hand turned into a liquid-like existence, drilling into his chest, trying to replace the position of the heart.

But just as he was about to succeed.

A strong sense of weakness came from his body. Immediately after, Goto's facial skin rapidly wrinkled, and his hair turned from black to white. His eyes were sunken, as if he had lost all vitality. He could feel that all the tissue in his body had been destroyed, and it was irreversible.

"Wh... what is this?" Goto asked before he died.

"Hydrogen Cyanide."

"No wonder..." Goto's corpse fell from a high altitude, finally landing in a pool of blood.

"It's over." Xia Shang stood where Goto had just stood and said indifferently.

A gentle breeze blew, and his body dissipated into countless points of light, as if he had never been there, never appeared.

The moment Goto died, Migi said in horror, "Goto is dead, I can't sense his brainwaves anymore."

Along with his voice, Shinichi Izumi's mobile phone rang.

Shinichi Izumi took out his mobile phone, and on it was a message from Xia Shang.

"Shinichi Izumi, let's part ways here. We'll meet again if fate allows."

...

In a brightly lit Room, countless points of light emerged. As the points of light condensed, Xia Shang's body slowly materialized.

"After returning, even injuries can't heal directly, bah! Trash Panel!" Xia Shang complained, looking at his right arm which was missing a hand.

To be honest, that last moment was truly dangerous. If he had taken a single wrong step, he would never have survived.

Fortunately, he won in the end. As long as he could achieve his goal, the means didn't matter to Xia Shang. Only single-minded fools would choose not to use external force and fight to the death. Unless they had the Protagonist's Halo, the outcome for such people was usually tragic.

"Despicable? Is sneak attack shameful?" The corners of Xia Shang's mouth gradually turned up.

"It looks like I won't be able to go to work for half a month."

Xia Shang came to the desk, picked up his mobile phone, and asked his superior, Or, for leave.

Or readily agreed, provided that Xia Shang paid half a month's salary as compensation. Since the time flow rate between the two worlds was 150:1, Xia Shang's trip to the Fantasy World only took one day.

To prevent anyone from noticing anything unusual, Xia Shang specifically chose clothes with pockets before going out. He put his hands in his pockets, so no one could tell he was missing a hand.

Walking on the way to the Walmart Supermarket, Xia Shang unexpectedly saw a couple passionately kissing. They were kissing so intensely they couldn't bear to part, completely disregarding the feelings of the bystanders.

As the saying goes, show off your affection, die faster.

Just as Xia Shang was about to quicken his pace and pass by the couple, suddenly, a chill spread across the surface of his skin. He instinctively turned his head and prepared for combat, but instead, a strong wind came towards him, followed by scattered liquid splashing onto his face.

Xia Shang wondered where the liquid came from since there were no puddles by the road, until he smelled the familiar scent of blood.

It was human blood.

The scene that unfolded before his eyes next perfectly overlapped with a certain memory of his.

The woman was directly smashed by A-Train. Blood mist filled the air. As A-Train stopped, a splatter of mangled flesh mixed with shattered bone hit the ground with a splat.

"I can't stop, I can't stop."

A-Train put his goggles back on and left in a hurry.

Only Hughie remained, clutching his girlfriend's severed hand, still not having reacted.

"Too tragic." Xia Shang wiped the blood from his face and shook his head. If the couple hadn't been kissing so close together, maybe he could have recognized Hughie. Unfortunately, everything was the arrangement of fate.

He was actually curious how much Fantasy Value the Panel would give him if he saved Hughie's girlfriend.

Now it seemed there was no chance.

Afterward, he went to Walmart and bought some daily necessities. The surface of these necessities was basically printed with Superhero, and among them, he saw an energy drink printed with A-Train.

Finally, when checking out.

On the TV screen behind the cashier, a promotional video that Xia Shang had participated in was playing. Queen Maeve in the video was even more beautiful than in reality. It was just a shame that by the end, his screen time was cut down to only three seconds.

"Damn director."

As soon as Xia Shang finished checking out, he saw the cashier put a flyer in his bag.

"What's that?"

"It's a flyer for the Superhero audition. It's been very popular recently, and they say a lot of people are participating. I actually went too, but I didn't pass the interview," the cashier explained while putting the goods into the bag.

"These past few days, our Supermarket has a joint promotion with Vought International. You get a 10% discount on Superhero goods, plus a flyer."

"So that's it."

Xia Shang picked up the bag and walked out of the Supermarket.

In this world, Vought International was truly pervasive.

He took the flyer out of the bag and read the activity details carefully. The activity deadline was half a month later. If nothing unexpected happened, Starlight should be successfully selected for The Seven.

"Change the plot or kill the main characters from the source material to gain Fantasy Value." To be honest, Xia Shang already had killing intent towards Hughie. Compared to Superhero, Hughie, as an ordinary person, was clearly an easy target.

However, after some hesitation, Xia Shang decided to give up.

Once Hughie died, God knows what the plot would turn into. Before having the strength to control the overall situation, this approach was extremely foolish. Xia Shang didn't plan to take risks, and even if he did, he would wait until he had strength comparable to Homelander's.
