"Let's go!" Kyla yelled at the top of her voice as she helped Ava to her feet with the rifle in hand. "We need to leave this place before they get to us!"
Walter quickly ran over to take the rifle from Ava's grasp. He smirked. "Pretty sure you did a really good job."
Ava's brows furrowed in a mixture of anger and nervousness. "Shut up."
"Seriously, Walter! Now is not the time!" Kyla announced as she rushed down the stairs with the both of them close on her heels.
"Can we still make our way back to the gala?" Ava asked as they ran.
"Of course not, dumbass!" Walter spat. "The police are coming from that direction, how exactly do you want us to go back?"
Ava looked like she wanted to retort but held her tongue. She let out a breath. "But Vince and Coyle are back there!"
"You know both of them." Kyla said breathlessly as they ran past the entrance and into the empty, dark road. "They'll make it out however they can, we just need to catch up with them."
She started to examine their surroundings frantically as they sprinted. "Look around, find something we can use!"
Ava's head went back and forth for a moment before she shouted, "There!"
Just a few meters away from them, a middle aged man was just about to board a rickety, old car. What he was doing on this empty, abandoned street by this time of night was a mystery to all of them.
The middle aged man jerked fearfully when he noticed three masked people running towards him. He took a few cautious steps back, trembling.
"Thei–thieves!" He cried. "Wha–what do you want?! Lea–leave or I'll call–"
"Shut up!" Kyla commanded before she rammed her elbow into the bridge of his nose, knocking him unconscious before he could blink.
She then snatched his keys and got into the driver's seat of the car, waiting a few seconds for everyone else to get in before she smirked and said, "We're quite lucky tonight, aren't we? We managed to find an escape before–"
Before she could finish, a group of uniformed men appeared from the darkness, pointing annoyingly bright flashlights and guns in their direction.
Ava's lips twitched. "Looks like you spoke too soon–"
"Step on it already!" Walter yelled in panic and Kyla didn't hesitate.
She immediately started the engine and stepped on the pedal, speeding towards the group of policemen who already had their guns at arm's length.
But the car sped toward them without hesitation and they weren't quite ready to die yet, so they quickly jumped away before the vehicle ran them over.
"Haha!" Kyla laughed as she swerved the steering wheel. "What a bunch of cowards!"
"We're not out of it yet." Ava blurted. "We still have to meet with Vince and Coyle."
Just then, the Walkie talkie on Kyla's hip crackled to life once again. "Kyla," Vince's voice sounded. "You there?"
"Copy." Kyla responded.
"Good, it means you've escaped." Vince said with a hint of a smile. "Take the others, go to the rendezvous point, change your clothes and come to the gala. We're not done yet."
Kyla frowned. "We have another mission?"
"...Yes." Vince answered, hesitantly. "But I won't say anything until you arrive."
"...Alright. We'll be there in a few minutes." Kyla answered before the walkie talkie went dead.
"But we'll first have to ditch this car." Ava suggested.
"Of course, Cookie." Kyla smirked. "And we'll ditch it somewhere completely unrelated to where we're going."

"Were you able to get a hold of them?" Eitan asked, a phone hoisted up to his left ear.
"...No, Sir…" A dejected masculine voice sounded from the other end. "They escaped before we could do anything."
Eitan's brows furrowed slightly. "I see…" He said. "Well, that just proves that the information wasn't false."
"Yes… is there anything else you would like us to do, Sir?" The policeman asked.
"...No, there's nothing else." Eitan said curtly. "You may take the rest of your men and leave. The security at the gala will be more than enough."
"...Of course, Sir." The policeman answered with an audible wince. "Till next–"
Before he could finish, Eitan hung up.
"Is the police force just full of wussies now? Surely those murderers shouldn't have been so difficult to catch!" A tall man standing right beside Eitan spat with a frown.
He had a head full of rusty brown hair held tight in a man bun and his eyes were stormy grey, filled with anger.
"It was an urgently gathered force, Jan." Eitan said without so much as a shift in expression. "This was bound to happen."
"Tsk!" Jan clicked his tongue.
"Looks like I was quite lucky to be alive then." A shaky female voice sounded somewhere from behind them and they both turned their heads to face her.
She was a beautiful, petite lady with golden brown, wavy locks and bright hazel eyes.
But at the moment, she looked terrible. Her skin was sickly pale and cold sweat dripped down her forehead occasionally, only to be dabbed away with a handkerchief by a worried looking woman seated beside her.
A white bandage covered the top of her right arm and spots of blood were visible from the outside but other than that, she was fine.
As fine as she could be in this situation, that is.
"Thank you, Eitan." She said shakily. "You saved my life."
"Evie…" Jan started.
Eitan shook his head slightly. "It was nothing." He said. "I just did what I wanted to."
"Hah… You're as stoic as always." Evie shook her head slowly before she drew in a long shaky breath. "I believe I've had enough of partying for one night. I would like to go home now." She announced. "Vanessa?"
"Of course, Miss!" The lady beside her quickly stood up when she heard her name. "It's most certainly no more suitable for you to remain here!"
Evie nodded and let Vanessa help her up as they slowly walked towards the door.
"I'm heavily indebted to you, Eitan. I'll surely repay this debt." She added before she left the room, leaving the door to close slowly after her.
