Chapter 12 - Creation Arts

After all three of them chose their spells, they stood on the side.

Yugong thought about something and went back into the sutra hall.

Behind him, the elders looked but paid no more attention, as more disciples came to register their arts, techniques and spells.

Yugong looked for a spot somewhat away from everyone else and said "Production Arts".

Many jade slips flew towards him.

He looked at them and saw that the name wasn't much different from what he thought, they were called Creation Arts.

Then he thought for a moment and said "Anything to process beast materials".

This time, the formation seemed to be a bit slower, but slowly, many things were removed.

Yugong still saw many things in front of him, split into three different categories.

Treasure crafting – everything that was about crafting things, including weapons, armour, leatherwork, weaving, and so on. The given inheritance used beast resources as materials instead of ores, woods and other things.

Talisman crafting – the inheritance focused on processing beast blood into ink and making beast fur and leather into paper. There were corresponding techniques, spells and books that explained the relationship between the beast and the talisman.

Spirit Cooking – this was an uncommon but still important creation art. Comparable to the Spiritual Doctor, who is rare but a very important spiritual art. Spiritual cooking processes beast meat as well as herbs to produce nourishing food.

These three arts were immensely important for Yugong – if he could learn them, he would have enough resources for his path of cultivation.

After all, everyone knew that raw materials were always cheaper than processed ones.

This is why spiritual farmers rarely grow spiritual plants and rather focus on trees – trees produce spiritual fruits. Fruits are like naturally grown pills. Any further processing will only damage the purity and spirituality of the fruit, which is why fruits are eaten just like that.

Yugong didn't want to be a hunter who had to sell his prey short.

Who knew how much profit he misses by doing this!

Not to mention – everyone needs weapons and talismans.

Spiritual cooking can also replace the normal consumption of pills – only special pills that are made from rare plants are of higher quality… but eating the meat of a beast higher than his level will have a similar effect anyways.

To master these means being self-sufficient and stronger than other people.

'Although I can't learn you just yet, I will make sure to learn the initial points, such as proper skinning, the first stage of processing and finally the preservation of materials, so that I can use them later.'

Yugong felt that as long as he learned these first things, he would be able to gather a lot of materials for him to learn the creation arts he chose.

Cost? What cost is there?

He's hunting them on his own, processing them on his own, and probably also using them.

There simply is no cost – the only difference might be in profit.

He looked at them longing, then turned around.

For now, he just wanted to know whether they were available.

As for asking the elders for a favour – this was impossible.

It's fine if they offer it to him, but he dare not ask for things.

That would be presumptuous and not conductive to their further communication.

When he returned, he saw that basically everyone has chosen his spells, only a single person was still being problematic.

Yugong listened and heard from two whispering boys on the side that the boy wanted an additional spell, but he didn't have a quota anymore, so he asked a girl who hadn't use all her quota's to get it for him, promising he would return it.

Right then, he heard "I will also need the quota! Why would I give it to you? Stay away!"

The girl was unhappy.

Which idiot would ask for a quota among his peers who had just joined?

Clearly, he thought she was a girl and weak, so he wanted to ask her.

No way!

Every swordsman had a strong personality and would not stand injustice – especially against themselves.

The boy tried to persuade her "It's just a quota, I promise I will pay it back!"

When the girl heard this, she looked even more stubborn "Who cares about paying back? The quota allows you to take anything you want.

If I were to use it, of course I won't waste it on some cheap spell!

By the time you can pay for me, I will also be able, so why would I need to give you my quota now?"

Yugong nodded at her reasoning.

The spells he got might seem basic, but in fact, he got the top-notch things.

The simpler something sounds, the more advances it is.

Just looking at the two sensing spells he learned of – they had simple names, but one could sense any and every kind of spirituality around the user, even going as far as using it to track down the spirituality.

The other could track down a person across thousands of miles with the help of their blood!

They are strong and in any sect, they might be inheritance secrets only the top leaders can learn.

Although these disciples were core disciples expected to reach the third stage and become an elder, this didn't mean they actually had the rights to such things!

This library was clearly introduced as the place for elders and core disciples to get their inheritance from – but where would the higher things be?

Of course these things were mainly used by the supreme elders, stored in the secret library, with entrance to it being a rare reward.

The quarrel seemed to continue, but Elder He wasn't bored enough to watch, so he stopped them.

"Since grandniece doesn't want it, there is no need to force it!

If you still continue persuading, I can send you down to the inner disciple ring as punishment!"

The boy finally deigned in, becoming quiet.

But anyone with proper eyes could see the resentment hidden in his eyes.

Yugong shook his head 'You might have the determination of a swordsman, but you don't have the spirit of righteousness.'

He himself doubted whether he had it – but he wasn't a swordsman, so it didn't matter to him.

Hunters didn't care about these intricacies – there in only thing in their eyes.

Their prey!

"Alright! I will now take you to the Merit Hall, where you will get your badge as well as various resources."

Elder He bowed farewell to the sutra elder, then left together with the disciples.

Riding on his sword, he became quiet, flying in a semi circle around the mountain.

Yiye and Lingyue were in front of Yugong again, chatting about things.

"Brother Yiye, do you think the girl should have given him the quota?" Lingyue asked.

Yugong had his eyes closed, but in his heart, he reacted 'This is the typical test of morality given by girls! Boy, you better don't fail my teachings!'

Although at this age, they might not know many things, but feelings were a common concept one would learn in their childhood, so they knew very well of these.

Lingyue felt empathy for the girl – if she hadn't met Yugong, she probably would've kept her quota's too, so she could look later into it.

Only half the people had chosen things, the rest kept one to four quotas.

Everyone chose the weapon heart core art.

After all, no one knew just yet what they would need in the future, only this important art would be taken by all.

At least Lingyue didn't know what she would need in the future, so she would just take the necessary things and come back later.
