Chapter 24 - Seriously Injure One First

The 'Big Brother' Cultivator's heart grew anxious as he saw his 'little brother's' injuries worsen due to the activation of the small shield Magical Artifact.

However, Shi Jiu did not stop his actions just because the previous attack hadn't worked.

He formed a hand seal, and suddenly, the ground beneath the two of them began to writhe in an extremely bizarre manner.

Both sand and trees were abruptly sucked downwards into the earth, and the two Cultivators who had ambushed Shi Jiu were startled by this sudden development and flew into the air.

The 'Big Brother' Cultivator, left with no choice, reluctantly let go of his 'little brother' with angry eyes, allowing the suction from underground to firmly pull most of his 'little brother's' body into the earth, leaving him unable to move.

He himself flew several steps through the air, quickly escaping that area.

"It's a Ground Trap Talisman, and you've set up such a large area! When did you arrange all this, you bastard? It's a pity my Divine Thought has only just been Cultivated and can't yet probe underground, otherwise how could your tricks escape my Dharma Eye?"

The 'Big Brother' Cultivator seemed to have blurted out the secret of his Cultivation due to his 'little brother's' severe, dying injuries, and his own dazed state from Shi Jiu's barrage of attacks.

"So it's Divine Thought? To be able to possess the ability for Divine Thought to leave the body before reaching the Foundation Establishment Stage, it seems he's had quite an extraordinary fortuitous encounter."

Shi Jiu muttered to himself in a low voice, not discouraged that the Ground Trap Talisman failed to trap the 'Big Brother' Cultivator, but rather feeling that the man had quite an adventure, having learned that he possessed the ability for Divine Thought to leave the body during the Qi Refining Stage.

The 'Big Brother' Cultivator formed a hand seal from a distance, and the bloody giant banner from before shrunk again, coiling around two unmanned silver daggers, returning to his hand in a blink of an eye.

Shi Jiu was slightly annoyed by this; he truly lacked combat experience.

If he had enough experience just now, he would have first retrieved those two unmanned silver daggers, otherwise, they wouldn't have been so easily taken back by this 'Big Brother' Cultivator.

However, Shi Jiu temporarily had no time to reflect on his combat insights, because the 'Big Brother' Cultivator opposite him was once again fiercely throwing the bloody small banner towards him, and countless vengeful spirits and malevolent ghosts danced wildly, roaring and rushing towards him.

Shi Jiu's expression immediately changed drastically. This bloody small banner clearly seemed to have been refined using some malicious secret technique. Although the vengeful spirits and malevolent ghosts within didn't appear strong, every single one of them was incredibly fast.

He had to treat it with caution. At this moment, Shi Jiu could no longer afford to hide his true Cultivation, and his Qi Refining seventh level strength erupted with a roar.

Shi Jiu thought for a moment and pulled out a shimmering golden talisman from his Storage Pouch.

He quickly and softly chanted a few incantations, then infused spiritual energy into his fingertip, and the talisman began to emit Buddhist chants. Along with the chants, countless brilliant golden lights burst forth.

And those vengeful spirits and malevolent ghosts in the small banner, upon hearing the chants, seemed to have encountered their nemesis, and they all scrambled to hide back into the small banner.

However, only a few managed to hide, the rest were illuminated by the golden light from the talisman. For a moment, like snow melting in the sun, their figures dissipated in the golden light.

"My Hundred Ghost Banner! That's actually a high-level Buddhist demon-subduing talisman! Where did you get so many diverse talismans, you bastard!"

The 'Big Brother' Cultivator hadn't expected that Shi Jiu, besides using a Water Mirror Talisman to evade his and his brother's initial ambush, then used a Cold Blade Talisman to directly gravely injure one of them.

He then used an unknown number of Ground Trap Talismans to successfully trap his 'little brother', and now suddenly unleashed a Buddhist demon-subduing talisman to purify the vengeful spirits and malevolent ghosts in the banner, instantly causing his painstakingly refined Hundred Ghost Banner to suffer heavy damage.

What shocked the 'Big Brother' Cultivator even more was that they had always thought the small Cultivator they were tracking was a Qi Refining fourth level Cultivator, but he was actually a Qi Refining seventh level Cultivator, just like the two of them.

His combat skills seemed a bit rusty, but he was incredibly insidious and cunning, with a wide variety of tricks that made it impossible to guard against him.

Shi Jiu was no longer willing to entangle himself further with the 'Big Brother' Cultivator at this point.

He had just won by surprise. By feigning weakness, he had gravely injured an opponent, and now, relying on the power of the talismans he bought during the day, he had caught the other person off guard.

However, he truly lacked profound combat experience. Although his Cultivation was higher than the two opponents, each of them possessed several Magical Artifacts, and he was purely relying on talismans and the magical power of his Five Elements Cultivation Technique to resist the enemy.

Although he had calculated against the two opponents in advance, he truly had no good way to kill the 'Big Brother' Cultivator for a while.

So Shi Jiu's eyes shifted, glancing at the 'little brother' Cultivator who was trapped and unable to move. Instantly, a golden ray shot out from his hand, aiming at that Cultivator's head.

Shi Jiu intended to kill that person first, lest he somehow escape with some hidden means, and then it would be two against one, catching him off guard.

Upon seeing this, the 'Big Brother' Cultivator let out a low roar, put away his bloody small banner, and incredibly, took large strides, clenching his fists, like an iron tower, he blocked in front of the 'little brother' Cultivator.

At this moment, a yellowish light also lit up on his body. With a 'ding' sound, it blocked the golden ray that Shi Jiu had shot out.

"Oh, it's actually an Earth Armor Talisman."

When Shi Jiu saw the yellow light appear, he immediately recognized the talisman the 'Big Brother' Cultivator had used.

Shi Jiu had also bought one of those talismans. The reason he hadn't bought more was that although the Earth Armor Talisman greatly enhanced physical defense after use, it significantly affected one's speed. Shi Jiu found it somewhat useless, which is why he hadn't bought many.

The 'Big Brother' Cultivator, seeing that he had blocked Shi Jiu's insidious move, understood that this treacherous fellow wanted to use the immobile 'little brother' to tie him down and restrict his movements.

Fortunately, this insidious fellow seemed to truly be a rookie who had just emerged from some Family, as he hadn't used a single Magical Artifact so far in the fight, otherwise, the two of them would probably have already perished in the Yellow Springs.

However, despite this, a hint of bitterness still appeared at the corner of the 'Big Brother' Cultivator's mouth.

If he had known they would encounter such an insidious and tough opponent, he and his brother should never have thought of killing people for their treasures.

It seemed he had to use his ultimate Magic Treasure, otherwise, the two of them would probably be slowly worn down to death by this fellow.

Thinking of this, the 'Big Brother' Cultivator seemed to have made some kind of decision. He put two more Earth Armor Talismans on his body, making the yellow light on his body even more dazzling.

It looked like he had made up his mind that no matter how Shi Jiu attacked next, he would tough it out with these Earth Armor Talismans.

Afterwards, his expression suddenly became very solemn, and he even pulled out an azure gourd-shaped Magical Artifact from his Storage Pouch, holding it horizontally with both hands.

Then he aimed the mouth of the gourd Magical Artifact at Shi Jiu, his lips rapidly opening and closing, softly chanting an obscure incantation.

But how could Shi Jiu allow others to prepare like this? This gourd Magical Artifact clearly wasn't an ordinary item, and the solemn expression of the person opposite him surely meant he was brewing some big move.

He certainly didn't dare to stand still and let the 'Big Brother' Cultivator calmly finish chanting the incantation, and then try to see if he could withstand the move.
