"Baby… why would you say that?" her voice cracked as she spoke, trembling like her world had just been shaken.
And maybe it had.
Honestly, I wasn't surprised. I saw it coming the moment she kept calling herself "Luna" when she hadn't even been mated to him. She was too loud, too proud, and too sure of her place in his life. But now? That confidence was fading fast.
Then, Alpha Soren said it again.
Like he wanted her to feel it deep in her chest.
"What made you think I was going to choose you as my Luna?"
My heart stopped for her.
And he wasn't even done.
"Who really are you that would make me leave better options and pick you?" he asked, his voice laced with nothing but disgust.
For a moment, I forgot who I was. I almost felt the urge to defend her. Yeah, I hated how she treated me. Yeah, I wanted to slap. But this?
This was humiliating.
Nobody deserved to be talked to like that. Not even her.
