Alicia's POV
—
It used to be my freedom, my life tied to this man. The same man who had become the most important person in my world.
I walked up to him, my feet dragging shyly against the floor, especially knowing we had just been intimate minutes ago.
Anthony smiled, brushing a strand of hair from my face before leaning forward to kiss me tenderly. He tasted of wine, and now I love that taste. Red wine has become my favorite flavor in the world.
He pulled back without saying a word. That's when I saw the tears lingering in his eyes. He tried to hide them, but in the short time I've known him, I didn't need anyone to tell me how to read him.
I took his hand and squeezed it gently. "What's wrong?" I whispered.
Was he regretting being with me? A man from a world so high above mine—could he even stay with me? But all my doubts shattered when he looked at me. Right now, he seemed devastated, so full of pain.
