Chapter 4 - A Thunderclap

This made Rheo make a disdainful expression, even Raizen let out a low screech.

After some moments, the men in black suits became victorious, blocking the reporters completely from the youngster's view.

Seeing the young youth with a bright future beside him, they all wore happy expressions and started offering many contracts to him immediately.

Like ants to sugar, these men brought out many paper documents and started telling the youngster about their contract with sugar-coated mouths.

The youngster raised his hand in objection, clearly not wanting to hear anything anymore.

The representatives were adamant and kept pestering him, however, this attitude melted away as a terrifying growl erupted from the Thunder Kong.

The sound was spine-chilling! Making them shuddered in fear, they became spooked immediately, clearing out like intimidated rats!

Then the flashes of the camera began, raining down on the youth. He wore a completely arrogant expression, and a smile curled up the corner of his lips.

"It seemed he wanted those cameras, spotlight freak" Seeing as the youth smiled brightly in front of the camera, Rheo spatted.

Many girls were already going crazy over him.

Many reporters began their questions.

"Shen, as the first son of the Qing family, how do you feel about your rank?"

"And what guild do you plan to join, if any, or do you plan to be a free agent with only academic pursuit?"

All the reporters were trying to get their questions answered first, while the association security was preventing them from getting too close to the youngster.

Becoming a C-Rank monster ranger at such an age, even Rheo could feel jealousy well up deep inside of him.

This means higher perks from the government, if he joined Ranger guilds, he would have exposition to many lair secrets and even access to high-tier monster lairs.

Being ranked so high at such a young age also means he had received a powerful talent from his monster pet after getting contracted and he had even awakened it.

"Such a genius" Rheo gnashed his teeth.

Rheo eyed the playful monster.

The Thunder Kong was flexing its muscles in front of the cameras, it was seriously striking different poses, getting so excited by the flashes of the camera, it then went on to beat his chest multiple times.

Hitting the last beat, a loud thunderclap erupted!

Making everyone in the vicinity frightened, the reporters even shuddered and backed away, clearly terrified by the sudden clap of thunder!

Rheo could hear Raizen's low and sharp screeches, as a monster of the same type, the steel-feather thunder falcon was obviously irritated by this show of power.

But this monster must be at least a commander-grade monster. Or how else would the youngster be ranked so high?

With those powerful hands, Raizen steel-feather wings would definitely be torn to shreds if a fight broke out.

This fact was made clear when the Thunder Kong turned his gaze to Raizen.

"Did it overhear Raizen's irritated screeches? What sharp senses!"

Rheo heart skipped a beat.

The bird monster screeched frightenedly again and flew back immediately.

There is no bird of prey in front of a superpredator!

Raizen was shuddering while hovering behind Rheo.

Rheo lifted his hand in submission and called Raizen back.

The Thunder Kong gave him a freaky wide smile with its yellow teeth as if telling him that ~ good boy, don't you mess with your elders again ~

Rheo turned his head to the entrance like a robot, then dashed into the association building.

"Damn! I was scared back then"

He didn't want to remember those eyes.

Back then, Rheo felt like a prey about to be preyed upon.

Walking into the inner premises, a security man approached Rheo as if he had been waiting for someone.

He had a little monster pet with opened fashioned mouth of jagged white shinny teeth like the edge of a saw, but these teeth were longer, as if they were grown to give the deadliest cut and bite. This monster, about the size of a pillow, looked like a grey furry stuffed toy with a round body and tiny black eyes, bouncing after the security man.

As the man reached where Rheo was, the bouncy monster stopped.

"Are you one of the aspirants?"

The man asked with a questioning look.

At first, Rheo was in a daze, what he just witnessed was somehow weird.

Because this bouncy monster just made the same questioning expression that the man wore.

The man's face relaxed, and he smiled a little, clearly understanding why.

At the same time, the bouncy monster's face also relaxed, it was as if it were mimicking all of its master expressions!

"It's alright lad, Bouncy Devil might look weird but it is the best breed of monster for security because of its alertness"

For Rheo, that was so uncool, he couldn't even imagine how it would look with a broad smile on its face.

"If you are an aspirant, move to the contract hall, the ceremony is going already"

The security rushed away to the entrance after saying this.

As Rheo entered the contract hall, there was already a large number of aspirants, with monsters of all shapes and sizes, but this hall was quite big so there wouldn't be any problem for the crowd outside when they came in.

He quickly found a space in the crowd to merge into.

At the front was a slightly raised platform with a large runic circle sculptured on it, and near it were a few military officials.

"As the aspirants of New Pearl's Ranger Academy.

Anyone who manages to awaken their talent will be licensed here, however, if you don't, you must awaken the talent power before resumption, the association will forward your license to your school when you resume, be informed that not everyone will receive a talent, it depends on your monster type"

This man who just spoke had a monster pet beside him, it was a black-colored praying mantis, or more like it was covered with dark shadowing aura.

A Shadow Mantis, it towered just above the man, it stood fixed beside the man like a statue, and I knew that without doubt, this pet was at least a high-tier commander-grade monster.

"When you hear your name, just step out into this circle with your pet"

The man's voice was thick and commanding, and every word he said, he didn't repeat.

The hall was silent, with only the man's voice echoing loud and clear.

"Gao Lin"

A girl stepped forward from the middle of two black-suited and towering bodyguards, her dark hair was like a silken waterfall and she had long legs, with her dress obviously accentuating her perfect curves.

Everyone's eyes caught this beauty, walking with her pet, a grey wolf with jaws made of steel, the Steel-Jaww Wolf.

She stepped into the contract circle, a culmination of runic symbols found on monster drop stones.

When her pet stepped into this magic circle, a low hum was heard as the contract circle activated, glowing with a deep purple light.
