Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Prison Break (Part 1)

Warden Silas POV

The scratching of his pen echoed in the silence. Paperwork. Schedules. Incident logs. Warden Silas sat in his stone-walled office, overlooking Eden's security systems.Dozens of cells. Dozens of problems. But one in particular made his grip tighten on the pen.

Adrian.Too clever. Too calm.He hadn't caused chaos in days. And that worried Silas.

"He's planning something. I can smell it."

He leaned back, eyes narrowing on the monitors.

10:59 p.m.Almost lights-out.

Then, darkness.

Total blackout.

Screens cut to black. Lights died. Not even the red emergency strips along the floor came online.

"What the hell—?" he muttered.

He grabbed the intercom.

Silas: "Status. Report."

Guard (static): "Sir—systems down! Backup's not activating! Power's just… gone!"

Then came screaming. Metal crashing. Doors forced open. Powers flashing.

Silas moved to the window and looked out.

Anarchy.Prisoners rioting. Guards getting overrun. Fistfights. Fire. Shadows. Smoke.

His lip curled.

"No… no. God damn it."

He punched the wall beside him—BOOM.

The reinforced concrete cracked like glass. A spiderweb of fractures spread across it before a chunk crumbled away.

"WHO DID THIS?!"

Adrian POV

Adrian crouched low, pressing the walkie-talkie to his lips.

Adrian: "Alright. Just remember the plan."

Cassie (crackling): "I'm waiting."

Bobby: "Go time, yeah?"

He nodded and moved fast. His fingers flicked—smokescreen burst around the corridor.

Guard 1: "I saw him disappear in the smoke—he's got some kind of… teleportation trick."

Guard 2: "Yeah, but it's short-range. He pops in and out but never far."

Guard 3: "So what is he doing? Blinking through walls?"

Guard 1: "Hell if I know—but it ain't normal. He's making fools of us."

Adrian used the cover to sprint forward, then phased through a wall using Permeation, unseen.

From the smoke, Bobby leapt forward—hands glowing with spatial energy. He sliced open space itself, but non-lethally—redirecting his cuts to walls, armor, or flooring.

"Let's dance, assholes."

He cut one guard's boots off at the ankle. Another dropped his baton as Bobby teleported behind him, elbowing him out cold.

Adrian: "Bobby—hold 'em. I'm going for Cassie."

Bobby: "Do it. I got this."

He formed shimmering spatial lines around his forearms—his signature cutting Sword hand—while breathing deeply to conserve stamina.

Adrian smiled, then vanished again, using smoke and short bursts of phasing to move unseen.

Guard Station – Confused Chatter

Guard 1: "I saw him—he teleported!"

Guard 2: "It's not regular teleportation. He's short-range only. Always leaves that smoke behind."

Guard 3: "Whatever it is—keep your distance. He's playing tricks."

Cell 13 – Cassie's Cell

Footsteps. A familiar presence.

Cassie: "Adrian?"

Adrian: "Yeah, it's me."

Cassie: "Prove it. What's the password?"

Adrian (grinning): "When the fuck did we ever make a password?"

A pause.

Cassie: "…Correct password."

BOOM.Shadows erupted from under her cell door, slicing the lock in half. The shadows twisted up her limbs like armor.

She stepped out with a grin, shadows clinging to her fingers like claws.

"Ahhh. Fresh air. Finally."

Cassie: "So, what now?"

Adrian:smirking back

"Now? We escape."

Bobby POV

Bobby breathed hard, spatial lines fading and recharging around his hands. He'd disabled three guards, dodged a fourth, and teleported past a fifth into cover.

"Come on... don't burn it all too early…"

He sliced the floor under a guard's feet, sending him down into a utility shaft.

Just as he stood straight—

Cassie and Adrian appeared at the end of the corridor.

Bobby: "Ah. There you guys are."

Adrian: "Time for phase two. Ventilation shaft. Then we—"

BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.

Footsteps. Heavy. Thunderous.

Warden Silas emerged from the smoke and rubble, dragging a bloodied mutant prisoner behind him like a ragdoll.

He dropped the body.

Warden Silas:

"So… you're the one behind this mess."

He cracked his neck. His skin shimmered with built-up force.

"You took down guards. Broke cells. Turned off power. All with that weak little teleportation smoke trick?"

He smirked.

Warden Silas:

"I'm impressed. But not impressed enough to let you leave."

He stepped forward, the floor cracking beneath his boots. His power was swelling—fed by every impact he'd taken… and every beatdown he'd given.

"You won't walk out of here in one piece."
