Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Honest Guy Tang San

[Congratulations, Host has acquired the skill: Divine Light Eyes.]

"???"

What kind of skill is that?! Where's the description?

While Suifeng was still lost in confusion, he suddenly blacked out—and a vivid memory fragment began playing out in his mind.

The sun was shining brightly, flowers blooming, and lush greenery surrounded a peaceful scene.

A handsome monk stood with hands pressed together, a look of serene compassion on his face as he addressed a young man:

"Benevolent one, your home harbors a pair of thousand-year snake spirits—one white, one green."

The man's eyes flickered with uncertainty, but he quickly hardened his expression and shouted,

"So what? I love women! Baldy, mind your own damn business!"

"Stubborn fool," the monk's face darkened. "No use talking sense. Today, I shall reveal their true forms!"

Two breathtakingly beautiful women stepped from the house—one in white, one in green. Their elegance was enough to captivate anyone. The moment they saw the monk, their faces paled in panic.

"Bold demons, I saw at a glance that you are not human!"

The monk pressed his fingers to his brow. A golden radiance burst forth as his third eye opened—holy light swept across the land like an Arhat descending to judge evil.

"Ahh~! N-nooo~!"

The two women shrieked as they struggled to block the light with their sleeves, but to no avail.

Before long, their true forms were revealed—indeed, they were snake demons.

"Hmph! You dare linger after knowing I'm here? Clearly you hold no fear of me. Prepare to be exorcised!"

The monk formed a Buddhist hand seal.

"Great Mighty Heavenly Dragon! Flying Dragon in the Sky! Rebel against heaven and you'll find only death! Seducers of mortals—deserve punishment! Om mani padme hum—Banish!"

Suifeng was dumbfounded. This skill's insane! "Great Mighty Heavenly Dragon"? "Flying Dragon in the Sky"?! That's some real power.

"Shake the mountains, churn the seas—mighty waves crash down!"

The snake demons weren't giving up—they danced with their sleeves, conjuring towering waves to drown the monk.

It looked impressive… but the monk deflected it casually, sneering,

"That's all you've got? Such pitiful tricks… And you dare challenge me? Great Mighty Heavenly Dragon—Banish!"

---

After what felt like ages, the memory finally faded.

[Memory integration complete. Skill acquired: Divine Light Eyes. Please refer to system interface for details and cultivation method.]

"Let me see… Divine Light Eyes. Description: Unknown.

Cultivation method: Stare directly into the blazing sun to absorb its light energy, thereby enhancing ocular strength."

Suifeng stared blankly at the screen. …Excuse me?!

"System, are you sure this isn't a mistake? Don't mess with me just because I didn't finish school. Every teacher I've had said never look directly at the sun or you'll go blind!"

[Host, did your teacher ever tell you not to transmigrate either? You're in a fantasy world now. Please stop thinking like an ordinary person.]

"Wow… You're mocking me now. You've changed, system."

The Invincible Myth System remained silent. Suifeng, feeling ignored, decided to test the skill anyway.

Following the cultivation method, he focused his energy into his eyes. Soon, his normally clear and expressive eyes began to glow faintly golden. Mysterious light swirled in his gaze. He slowly looked up at the sun.

Ow. That stings!

He couldn't keep his eyes open—the searing pain forced him to shut them tightly. He was completely blinded.

"Holy crap, how am I supposed to train like this?!"

Despite his frustration, he was stubborn. If someone else can do it, so can I!

With sheer force of will, Suifeng pried open his eyes again, forcing himself to stare into the sun.

Gradually, his golden pupils turned slightly red—signs of damage. Tears streamed from the corners of his eyes.

Don't ask me why my eyes are filled with tears… It's because I love this land so deeply.

That was the only thought echoing in his mind.

He held on for an entire hour.

Eventually, he felt a faint, mysterious energy—something like light itself—flowing into his eyes from the sun. It was nearly saturated.

By noon, the harsh sunlight had weakened somewhat. Suifeng slowly shut his eyes.

And immediately collapsed.

The hour felt like a century. Every moment had been torture.

The eyes are the most sensitive part of the body—well, for men, maybe the second most.

It was like pressing his eyeballs to a frying pan and searing them for an hour.

Compared to that, ancient torture techniques were child's play.

After some time, his mind cleared. Groggy, he sat up and cautiously opened his eyes.

"Phew… thank god I'm not blind."

Even though it was a system-approved skill, he'd still been worried.

If he had gone blind, what would he do? Start training in "Power of Perception" like some sewer rat?

Honestly, he'd rather go back to the village and collect scrap metal.

Maybe he could score some decent stainless-steel basins.

[Are you questioning the system's integrity? Everything produced by this system is top quality. That is non-negotiable. Though I did forget to mention… Ideally, you should've started training in the morning sun. But no—you chose high noon. Very bold. I salute you.]

"You… didn't say anything!"

[You never asked.]

"...…"

[Don't be discouraged. Sticking with it will pay off. Noon actually provides the strongest results. If you don't believe me, check your stats.]

"Open status panel." Suifeng, skeptical, pulled up his interface.

So it had entered the "Beginner" tier?

That pain hadn't been for nothing after all.

Despite how trollish the system was, it hadn't lied to him. Let's see what this thing can actually do.

Suifeng activated Divine Light Eyes.

He didn't grow a third eye like in the memory fragment. Instead, his pupils turned faintly golden, and his mischievous aura was replaced with something noble and mysterious.

The world around him snapped into sharper focus. Green mountains and flowing rivers looked more vivid. Even the birds flying overhead—he could tell at a glance which ones were male or female.

And the women washing clothes by the riverside…

Their curves, their smiles, even the accidental glimpses of spring beneath their sleeves… all laid bare before him.

Ahem. Truly a divine skill. Like a 15x zoom scope.

Unfortunately—it didn't grant x-ray vision.

Still, Suifeng felt it had limited use.

If this were PUBG, he'd be sniping heads with a red dot sight.

Too bad the Douluo Continent didn't host battle royale events.

Shaking off those idle thoughts, Suifeng glanced at the westward sun.

Time for his daily "friendly sparring session" with Tang San.

---

"Hey, Xiao San, I'm here!" Suifeng waved cheerfully at the meditating Tang San.

"..." Tang San took a breath to steady his inner power.

Ever since he started sparring with Suifeng, he had unintentionally unlocked a new talent: resisting qi deviation from being interrupted while cultivating.

What could he say? Experience is the best teacher.

"Xiao Feng, when's your birthday? Mine's in January. I bet I'm older than you."

"Pfft, don't sweat the details. How about this—I'll call you big bro."

Suifeng gave a sly grin.

Tang San paused, thought for a moment, and nodded.

Having a little brother like Suifeng didn't seem so bad.

Then Suifeng added, "And in return, you call me 'Dad.' That way we're even!"

Tang San's face darkened. "You're asking for it."

He lunged forward, his movements sharp and elusive.

Seeing him charge, Suifeng's expression turned serious. He stilled his mind and sensed the incoming threat from the right.

Divine Light Eyes—activate!

His playful black eyes turned to shimmering gold.

"Got you, sweetheart," Suifeng whispered with a smirk.

He could see everything—Tang San's posture, his movements, even the energy coursing through his Mysterious Jade Hands.

But… so what?

He had no offensive skills. All he could do was dodge the moment Tang San attacked.

The strike missed. Tang San spun mid-air and swept his leg out—missed again.

Landing swiftly, Tang San grabbed three stones and hurled them in a triangular pattern.

Still no hit.

"Too slow~" Suifeng yawned, taunting.

Tang San narrowed his eyes. Something felt off. Suifeng had always been slippery, but he usually relied on reactive dodging.

Today, it was like… he was predicting everything in advance.

"There's no need to act smug. The real fun's just beginning."

Tang San resumed his assault. After all, no one expected Suifeng to go on the offensive. Right?

---

Thirty minutes later—

"Still acting cocky, huh? Huh?! Who's your daddy now?"

Tang San sat on Suifeng's waist, grinning as he pinned him down.

"Ack… I give up! You win, Big Bro San, I was wrong!"

Suifeng flushed. He'd thought that with his new skill, he could at least go toe-to-toe with Tang San.

He never expected… to lose from sheer exhaustion.

He had been training recently, but compared to Tang San's two to three years of consistent cultivation, his progress was barely anything.

Man, he thought bitterly, am I the most pathetic transmigrator ever?

Everyone else is probably collecting ten-thousand-year soul rings by now—

And here he was, getting pounded into the dirt.

Tang San, also panting slightly, felt just as frustrated.

Sparring with Suifeng was mentally exhausting. Whenever his attacks missed, he'd hear—

"Is that it?"

"Is that your speed? How did you even win the race to be born first?"

Tang San decided—no more sparring with Suifeng. It wasn't just tiring—it was emotionally draining too.

He'd just pinned Suifeng down and was about to finish punishing him, when—

Suifeng instantly went full adorable mode. Big watery eyes, pouty face, clinging to his knees like a helpless puppy.

Tang San hesitated. He was a boy too, but beating up such a cute little face… didn't sit right.

Seeing this, Suifeng smiled subtly.

As expected—Tang San's too soft. Just act pathetic fast enough, and you won't get hit.

"Ah! You really hit me!" Suifeng cried out dramatically.

Tang San closed his eyes and gave him one hard whack to vent his frustration.

"Whew… that felt good."

Standing up, Tang San left Suifeng curled up in a pitiful ball, hugging his knees and questioning his life choices.

Looks like I really can't mess with the "honest ones."

Actually, screw that—Tang San's not honest at all!

"One day… One day, I swear I'll be the one to reign supreme!"

Suifeng clenched his fists and swore silently once more.
