Lux didn't slow down.

"Consider it proof. I wasn't bluffing. I was on vacation. And from the looks of it…" He adjusted the collar, letting one of the more vivid crimson kiss marks peek out. "…a pretty good one."

The aide's mouth opened. Then shut. Then opened again. "But the …um— the optics. Some of the cameras are high-focus. They might—"

"Good," Lux cut in. "Let them zoom. Let the whole damn realm see what a rested executive looks like."

He paused just outside the door, hand on the biometric pad. "Count this as my recovery outfit."

The aide looked like she might faint.

The door slid open.

Conference Room A was sleek, cold, and humming with power.

Glass panels lined the back wall, overlooking the Infernal Exchange down below, a churning lavaflow of magic data, contract seals, and demonic economic charts. The table was obsidian. The chairs were ergonomic spellsteel.

And the cameras?

They were everywhere.
