Vizreel finally spoke again.
"You are changing the balance of power faster than either realm predicted."
Lux hummed thoughtfully. "That tends to happen when systems evolve."
"You are not just evolving systems," Vizreel said. "You are rewriting them."
Lux smiled faintly but said nothing.
Vizreel watched him carefully, suspicion and respect tangled together.
Then the Archon leaned back and gestured toward Lux's plate.
"You are not eating enough."
Lux blinked. "I am literally eating leaves."
"You usually eat like you are trying to offend nature."
"I miss meat," Lux admitted mournfully.
Vizreel snorted. "You will survive two hours."
Lux sighed dramatically. "I survived limbo. I survived abyss lords. But this… this is cruelty."
Vizreel rolled his eyes.
Lux glanced toward the glowing ceiling where celestial constellations ticked closer toward conference time.
