Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: The Value of the Flame Breath Seed and the First Pot of Gold

Jack used his identity as a "Dragon Merchant" to intimidate and the other party's information gap caused by fear to dominate the negotiations. He deliberately remained mysterious and indifferent, and let the kneeling soldier (named Glenn) be the messenger. The leader (Harlock) was silent due to his injury, and the injured (Brent) was simply treated.

Jack asked for a lot of money. In addition to the cost of repairing the gate and wall (converted into the universal currency of the alien world, "Mithril Coin"), he proposed to exchange "Flame Breath Seed" (lighter): a large amount of easy-to-store, high-energy alien food (such as "Rock Lizard Jerky", "Luminous Moss Bread"); basic magic materials (such as a small bag of "Salamander Scale Powder", "Moonlight Moss"); and books about the basic information of that world (history, geography, currency, power system). He emphasized that the use of "Flame Breath Seed" requires the consumption of "rare fuel" (butane gas) and is "disposable" (implying that the lighter will run out).

Glenn was shocked by the "basic supplies" Jack asked for. In his opinion, these were far less valuable than "Flame Breath Seed". He was more convinced that Jack was a generous (or unfathomable) businessman. He reported to the outpost with fear through a rough metal piece engraved with runes (similar to a low-level communication stone), describing the majesty of the "Dragon Merchant", its terrifying strength (focusing on Brent's leg and Harlock's injury) and the other party's "generous" trading conditions.

The outpost was obviously shocked by the news of "Holy Gold" and "Dragon Merchant". Sir Thorin responded personally, with excitement and awe in his voice, and agreed to all the conditions without hesitation, and gave an additional small bag of "pure magic crystal fragments" (low-level energy stones) as a sign of respect, and begged to establish long-term contact. The supplies will be sent to a fixed point through the outpost's small teleportation array (coordinates required).

On the floor of Jack's apartment, Glenn carved a simple micro-array (one-way reception) with magic crystal fragments and scale powder. After the light flashed, a pile of supplies in rough leather bags and wooden boxes appeared: dried meat and bread with a strange aroma, glittering moss, colorful powder, several old animal skin scrolls, a small bag of shiny fragments (magic crystals). There was also a small bag of heavy mithril coins.

Jack handed the lighter that was almost out of gas (emphasizing that there was little fuel left) to Glenn, and "mysteriously" reminded him of the "taboos" of using it (don't let it get wet, don't drop it, and it will be useless after use). Glenn was as excited as holding a holy object.

Jack pointed at the door (the hole) with a fire axe and signaled them to leave. Glenn supported Harlock and dragged Brent, who had a broken leg, and retreated in a mess but respectful manner. Jack immediately hid the supplies.

Jack couldn't wait to try the food from another world. The dried meat was tough but full of energy, and the moss bread had a strange taste but a strong sense of fullness. He flipped through the animal skin scroll (the text was simply translated by Glenn), eagerly absorbing the basic information of the alien world (Eredar continent): countries, races (humans, elves, dwarves, etc.), arcanists (magicians), warriors, magic beasts, magic crystals, enchantments... a magnificent and dangerous world unfolds.

Jack stroked the bag of mithril coins and magic crystal fragments, looked at the remaining traces of the teleportation array on the ground, and then looked at the pile of alien supplies in the corner. The hunger disappeared, replaced by unprecedented excitement and ambition. "Holy Gold" turned between his fingers, he walked to the window, looking at the dawn of New York: "Eredar... mithril coins... magic crystals... this is just the beginning."
