Chapter 7 - Chapter 6: Rookie

"That rookie"

Watching Ryuta leave, the receptionist, Eina Tulle turned to look at the documents she had just helped the man write-

"Ryuta Takehara… is he from the east perhaps?"

She muttered, her words catching the attention of a pink haired receptionist coworker of hers who leaned in and looked over her shoulder-

"Oya~ Did that rookie catch your attention, Ei-na-san"

"Misha, instead of teasing me, how about you finish your work instead?"

"Oh~ come one~ I wanna know! I wanna know! Who's the lucky kid who got Eina-san's attention!"

"Y O U R W O R K"

"... yes…"

The two women had such an exchange, one that was not out of the ordinary but a few keen eared adventurer's heard the two talk which led to a flurry of hushed conversations.

"Another kid got the attention of Eina-san huh?"

"I dunno whether to call him a lucky or unlucky bastard! HAHAHAHA!"

"Look, it's a rookie and Eina-chan took a fancy to him, we all know where this is going-"

"..."

"DUNGEON LESSONS!!!"

They all laughed as they bonded over the knowledge only veterans knew off.

Eina ignored the idiots who were laughing as her thoughts wandered to the man who had just left-

"He gave off the feeling of a rookie, an idiot who can't even write… but- the confidence he has is far from a rookie who just got falna… he was like a veteran…"

She had mixed feelings as she recalled the man, on one hand, he looked unreliable and full of weaknesses but at the same time, he showed a certain level of confidence and ability that made her question whether her eyes were deceiving her or not.

Unfortunately for Eina, this thought bothering her would lead her to do something crazy in the future-

A crazy act that would make Ryuta wish he chose the werewolf lady instead…

Finishing his registration, Ryuta headed for the dungeon-

'Still, to think that I had to fill up forms… ha~ I thought it would be some easy shit, like name, affiliation and all that but why did it look like I was applying for a university? Also! JAMES BARTHOMELOI!!! I am a magus! Why the fuck do you give me an understanding of language but not writing? Is this a joke? Want me to look illiterate after showing off? FUCKING BASTARD!! Ahem- '

'Anyway, why do they even need an address… for what?! Home visits? What is this? Middle school?'

'Good thing I asked for that church- well I asked for a place to stay and got a church… meh- its the same thing anyways~'

Ryuta thought as he walked towards the Dungeon.

Observing his surroundings, he found that most people around him wear dressed for light combat. Wearing light armor that protected small parts of their body-

'They're all dressed like archers… some have "heavier" armor but… yeah- they all look like standard adventurers'

His observations in the guild made him think that adventurer's dressed a lot more- seriously when going into the dungeon but his observations made him roll his eyes.

There were men entering the dungeon like they were going to a party-

Women who looked like they were going to a cosplay convention-

'All that's missing is the high ranking adventurer wearing "bikini armor" that has a defense bonus of 1mil…'

Ryuta mused, the variation in clothing was pleasant to the eyes but when he thought about the dangers in the dungeon-

'Miss magician… your large puffy dress is better used for parties- of the luxurious kind not being in a party of adventurers…'

His eyes looked at all the women, the men were fine, who cares if they went in topless, a little scars would help them look cooler but the women?

Ryuta turned towards an assassin who was dressed… lightly- is already an overstatement-

'Is that an assassin? I understand dressing lightly but who does she think she is? Loli-ripper? Nah… all it takes is an opponent that could attack indiscriminately- maybe a poison type and she's donezo- now that I think about it… god are those designs awful'

He turned his eyes towards a beastman, they exists in this world but he never thought that they'd be- Japanese themed…

'That… miko? Foxlady… shrine maiden clothes are cute and attractive but- what other purpose do they serve except attracting the desires of men- also… is that? No way… she didn't wear panties?! AND SHE CUT WORE A MINISKIRT?!"

His eyes went wide and as he looked at all the other adventurer's he couldn't help but sigh-

'Hm… women in this world are quite… courageous… no… that Loki familia group… now that I think about it- if the clothes they wore then were the same used in the dungeon… yeah an all female party works best I guess…'

Recalling his time in the nasuverse-

'Really… if only the boss and the others would dress like them…'

His imagination ran wild for a moment before calming down, he turned to look at his own clothes-

'In some ways, my style is not that- weird… at least compared to the guys who look like they came from "The Mummy" not as the humans but as the Mummies'

Ryuta mused as he continued towards the dungeon, his eyes staring at the tall tower at the center of the city-

'Babel… is it just another insert of myth that the author used to make the story have a "mythic" vibe or does it have a deeper, more important meaning…'

Coming from the Nasuverse, Ryuta was always wary of names and designations. After all, in that verse, a name was enough to curse somebody.

Power comes from mystery and mystery emerges from History, knowledge and human thought-

The power of this world, it came from the Gods-

God's had descended and gave humans power through Falna-

God's when killed return to their world, they do not persih but the Falna they distributed will be lost.

'Babel is the tower created by man, it was the symbol of humanity's weakness and strength- through a united humanity, the tower of Babel, one that threatened to reach the heavens was constructed but- before it could be completed, God had cursed mankind with conflict-'

Ryuta looked around him, adventurers, bearer's of falna, coming from different familia's, following different God's-

'Seeds of conflict arose when different languages were given, confusion and misunderstanding erupted- the united human front had turned on each other. The tower of Babel, the symbol of humanities Glory- stained in blood, collapsed, never to be restarted, never to be made again- humans had been cursed- unable to reach the heavens- for the God's spoke'

A mysterious light flashed in Ryuta's crimson eyes, his gaze profound as he asked-

"Is this a God's blessing to man? Or is it their curse to mankind?"

He muttered as he entered the dungeon, his words like a whisper were heard only by the wind as he entered the tower.
