I was walking back home, hands stuffed into my pockets, my bag slung lazily over my shoulder. Matsuda and Motohama had practically begged me to swing by for one of their late-night hentai marathons, but I refused. I had enough weirdness in my life already.
Besides, something about my body had been feeling... off lately. Restless. Like there was energy simmering under my skin that I didn't know how to vent.
The evening air was cool, the streets mostly quiet aside from the hum of passing cars and the occasional bark of a distant dog. I thought maybe I could just enjoy a peaceful walk for once.
But then I saw her.
She was tall. Really tall. The kind of tall that made you straighten your back just to look her in the eye. A buxom figure that made the air feel suddenly too warm.
Her long navy-blue hair shimmered under the streetlights, one eye hidden behind her silky curtain of bangs. But the one that was visible — brown and sharp — locked onto me like a hawk spotting prey.
She walked right past me. I held my breath, hoping she hadn't noticed me, but then she stopped. My stomach dropped.
Slowly, she turned around.
"Hey. You," she called.
My heart skipped a beat. I froze mid-step, the hairs on the back of my neck standing up. I turned to face her.
"Yes?"
My voice cracked slightly. When I got a proper look at her face, I felt a jolt go through me. I knew her. Kalawarna. One of the Fallen Angels. Part of the same group that killed Issei.
Panic surged through me, but I held it back. Did she know I was a devil now? Was she here to finish the job?
But what happened next wasn't what I expected.
She stepped closer. Close enough that I could see the gleam of her necklace, the way her chest rose and fell with each breath. And then, she leaned in and took a long, deep sniff of me.
Her eyes fluttered shut, and a soft moan escaped her lips.
"Ah~~~"
I blinked, stunned.
What the hell?
"Um... are you okay?" I asked, stepping back slightly.
Her eyes opened, now glowing faintly with an odd glint. "What's your name?"
There was a hunger in her tone that sent a chill down my spine, even as something inside me stirred in response. It wasn't normal. It felt like she was looking through me, *into* me.
"Issei," I answered hesitantly. "Hyoudou Issei."
She tilted her head, her lips curling into a sultry smile. "Issei... that's a nice name. You smell amazing. Almost... irresistible."
I frowned. What kind of line was that?
"I—uh... thanks?" I said awkwardly, still on edge. My instincts screamed that something was off, but not in the way I had assumed. This wasn't the approach of a predator. This was...
Something else.
Kalawarna stepped even closer, close enough that the scent of her perfume mixed with something more natural and far more potent filled my lungs. I staggered slightly, feeling lightheaded.
"What are you doing out so late?" she asked, voice thick with something I couldn't name.
"Just... heading home. Long day," I mumbled, trying not to stare too obviously at the ample cleavage her trenchcoat was doing a terrible job of hiding.
Kalawarna took a step to the side, letting her finger brush along my arm. I flinched at the contact, my body responding faster than my brain could process.
"You know," she said softly, "there's a love hotel not far from here. Just around the corner, actually."
My mind blanked.
Wait, what?
"I was thinking," she purred, "maybe we could go there. You and me. For a little... fun."
My mouth opened to protest, to tell her no — to remind myself that this was a Fallen Angel, someone dangerous, probably part of some trap.
But what came out instead was:
"...Yeah. Sure."
My eyes widened.
What the hell?! I didn't mean to say that!
Kalawarna giggled, a low, sultry sound that made my spine tingle.
"Well then, come on, Issei. Let's go have a good time."
She wrapped her arm around mine and began to lead me down the street like we were some sort of couple. I glanced up at the sky, half-hoping lightning would strike me for my stupidity. But no, the stars just blinked above like indifferent gods.
I tried to speak again, to tell her I changed my mind. But every time I opened my mouth, my tongue felt heavy, my throat tight. Like some invisible thread had tugged at my words and twisted them.
What's wrong with me?
I could still feel the heat radiating off her body, the scent she inhaled from me lingering in the air. It didn't make sense. Why would a Fallen Angel — one of the beings responsible for Issei's death — suddenly want to jump me like this?
I thought maybe she was just horny. That was the only logical explanation I had. After all, she did seem the type.
As we turned the corner, the glowing sign of a love hotel loomed ahead. My steps slowed.
Kalawarna turned to me, eyes half-lidded and lips parted. "Second thoughts?"
"Y-Yeah," I managed to mutter.
But even as I said it, she leaned in, her lips brushing close to my ear.
"Don't worry, Issei. I'll make it worth your while."
